Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Alone

I haven’t done one of Cee’s Fun Foto Challenges in a while, but when I saw this one, I thought I might be able to find a few pics for it, and I was right.

Here’s one of my favourites, taken at SeaWorld in San Diego. Nap time for this adorable baby Polar Bear. For now, he’s just so cuddly, but can you imagine that one day he will weigh well over 350 kgs?

This pic reminds me of Leonard Cohen’s classic song “Bird on the wire.”

Shamu, the amazing six ton Orca is probably singing, “Wow, look at me now!” as he does his solo act for the adoring SeaWorld crowds.

Another very formidable creature, is the Bison or American Buffalo, seen in Yellowstone National Park. These animals can weigh anything from 318 to 1,000 kg, so you really don’t want to get too close.

A little smaller, and a far less deadly opponent, is this cute seagull, spotted in Cornwall England. I wonder which “little dickie bird”  he is, Peter or Paul?

This Red Cardinal, is making the most of his time alone with the bird feeder here in Florida.

This Red-Eyed Tree Frog in Costa Rica, looks very comfy as he naps on a cool green leaf, oblivious to all the tourists snapping his pic.

  1. A very nice collection and response to the challenge. Those bison are something, aren’t they? Imagine thousands of them stampeding across The Prairies. What a sight that must have been.

  4. Well chosen Sylvia !
Love that bright red cardinal 🙂 wish we had some birds.. any birds in the garden .. very few to be seen at the moment .

  5. Six tonne…how does he jump like that. I’d be flat out on the bottom at that weight….just amazing the orca can still be so agile. Lovely “alone” shots all of them. They remind me of that song……”All by myself”

  6. Ha! Good to see you around lady. I like that bison and seagull shot. It’s funny you were my 800th follower 🙂 Glad you followed me twice. Hey what happened to your other blog?

    • I shall aspire to 800 followers on my new blog. I was almost at 900 on my old one. I decided to start afresh, in the hope that I could lose a couple of followers who I couldn’t get rid of any other way. I suppose it was a bit drastic, but worth it. 🙂

  7. love your pictures! the red cardinal looks sharp. reminds me of one who comes and visits us in the springtime. i wonder though if it’s the same red cardinal that comes each time. 🙂

  8. I have a cat that looks like that polar bear. Seriously, she is an all white cat and rather… how should I put this? Weightly? If I put her in with a polar bear and it’s cubs mom would probably just adopt the cat thinking it looked about right. 🙂

    • Hahaha. I think the mommy Polar Bear would get suspicious when your cat didn’t grow at the same rate as her other babies. I also suspect your cat would object to the cold, and the lack of a sofa or bed to recline on. 🙂
