Ailsa’s Travel Theme this week, is “Illuminated.” On our way back south from New Jersey, I just had to snap this amazing illuminated sky through the car window. It looked like an upside down river that was rushing towards us.ย I only had my iPhone handy, but I think it turned out rather well.

I liked your description of an upside down river rushing towards your car. Lovely in photograph but scary and eerie in reality! Wow! Your phone c as poured this beautifully, too.
Thanks so much for reminding me about this image, Robin. It was a really scary but wonderful sight to behold. ๐
You are welcome (I think it may be safe to breathe a sigh of relief!) and thank you for your comment about new baby. It was a magical day with all sorts of natural forces going on. I didn’t mention the rainbow in poem. Since son saw it and mentioned after I was through with pushing that button to publish. ๐
Amazing!
Thanks, Gilly. It had me worried for a few moments. ๐
Amazing ๐
Thank you, ๐
Superb photograph of an unusual cloud formation. Meteorology is a fascinating subject to study and observe,
Thanks, GOF. I wonder if this actually has a name?
It probably does…once upon a time in another life I knew a little about cloud types……our climatic systems are so different from yours and I’ve never seen streaming strato-cumulus like this in Australia. (It may not even be s-c ….it’s hard to judge it’s altitude from the photograph.
IPhones can take some pretty fabulous shots, and this one most definitely qualifies. Credit where credit is due. The photographer needs to know her stuff, too. ๐
Well that’s so nice of you to say so, Gemma. Thanks for the compliment, but I can assure you it was a pure fluke. ๐
Nonsense!
๐
Yes Ma’am. ๐
Looks like we should be spotting Dorothy and Toto in that sky Sylvia ๐
What a moment to capture … * jealous ๐
Absolutely, Poppy. I didn’t see the red shoes though. ๐

Very extraordinary pic and you captured it so well, iPhones are handy:-)
Thanks, Cocoa. I think I take better pics with my iPhone. ๐
That sky looks quite scary, actually. Illuminates your post well, though.
Yes, I guess you’re right about it looking scary. I didn’t think about it at the time though. ๐
That is quite a scary sky, looks like a tornado heading straight for you
Now you come to mention it, I think it does. ๐ฏ
Love the little frightened smiley Sylvia. How did you do that?
Thanks, Pommepal. It’s just an 8 and a capital O ๐ฏ
Thank you

Lovely – the sky goes on forever….
โThe air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious. And why shouldn’t it be?–it is the same the angels breathe.โ Mark Twain, Roughing It
What a lovely quote, Rebecca! I like that thought. ๐

What an unusual cloud formation… brilliantly captured… one wonders how these get formed…
Yes, this was the most unusual one that I’d ever seen, so I just had to get a pic. ๐
Right place, right time and thanks to your iPhone, you could instantly capture it…and not even get out of the car. Great shot.
Thanks so much, Lynne. ๐
It turned out great. This reminded me of taking a snap shot of the sky while on the road trip to Fl. a few years back.
Thanks so much, YC. Florida skies can be really fascinating. I love them. ๐
