Sue’s latest ‘Word a Week Photo Challenge’ is ‘Round’, and as I’m beginning to pack up my house here in South Africa, I’m selling off various items which I already have in Florida. There are two weighted Hula Hoops which won’t be going with me. Each one weighs about a kilogram, and as you can see, they are quite large. I thought I’d show prospective buyers that it’s quite easy to do the hula, so I put this pic on the website. No takers as yet.
Of course, it’s much easier with the regular lightweight hula hoops.
If you eat too many of these round delights, you may need to do much more exercise to keep the spare tyre at bay.
I watched this Black Forest cake being made, actually in the Black Forest. As you can imagine, it didn’t remain round for long, but if one eats this regularly, one could easily become very round indeed.
To see more round images, just go to Sue’s ‘Word a Week Photo Challenge’ post.
Don’t tempt me with that Black Forest Cake – it’s my favorite and I grew up with it!
Yummy! We each had a piece in the restaurant after the demo, and it was bliss. 🙂

Wow! I am so impressed that you can do the hula. 🙂
It’s easy when you know how, Imelda. 🙂
Pretty cool idea for the challenge 🙂
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed. 🙂
my word, that first picture of the hula up against the wall made me think of a torture instrument. What are the inner ridges for?
Supposedly to massage away any spare fat, but it leaves painful bruises. I think I overdid it. I started off by doing 1000 rotations in one go, and then wondered why it hurt. 😯
1000 rotations! Wow, that is impressive.
So were the bruises.8O
I’ll be damned …. What can I say? You well join the Circo Caballero family on the road. 😆
Hahaha……..I need to brush up on my circus acts first. 🙂
Sylvia, you must have tons of photos to be able to come up with something for any photo challenge. Love it though especially how varied each persons response to it.
Thanks, Mona. I do my best. 🙂
Great idea using hula hoops in response to the challenge. We sure did have fun with them as kids.
Thanks, John. Oh yes, I also loved my hula, as a child. 🙂
Oh my…those cupcakes just did me in
Really? Then my chocolate cheesecake today, should really kill you off, Jo. 😀
It did…it surely did.
I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a weighted hula hoop. A weighted person trying it – and failing – yes!
Ah well, that just shows how much you know about fitness equipment. 🙂
The equipment I have tended to use has been floating thingies, bicycles, horses, or mountains!
I was fine until I saw this Sylvia, now you’ve got me wanting cake, big time.. Easter Sunday and nothing open.. Hmm! Might have to make one.. 😉
So sorry, Adrian. I made a deliciously decadent chocolate cheesecake for dessert today. There is a piece left. 🙂
The hula hoops must work great, because you look great!! Happy packing and safe travels!
Thanks so much, Sheila. xx 🙂
What a fine looking hula-hooping mama you are Sylvia! Wish I had more room in my RV. I would love to have one of those weighted hulas for a fun approach to exercise.
Thanks, LuAnn. Yes, those big hulas do need quite a bit of space. I have to move some furniture when I want to use them. 🙂
you made me smile with your Black Forest Cake portrait, I couldn’t eat it (Diabetes), but your photo made me happy nevertheless!
Thanks, Frizz. Sometimes, just looking is the healthy option. 🙂
Hula hoops are better than those delicious cakes but who can resist them….
Not me. 😀
Those hula hoops sure are fun Sylvia and love seeing you having fun with them as well. Those cupcakes looks so inviting and delicious indeed. I am not much of an icing fan but I usually give it to hubby. 😆
Great post and selection of photo’s hon. 😀 ♥ Big Hugs ♥
Thanks so much for your lovely comment, Sonel. My hubby also loves the icing the best. 🙂 *hugs* xx
Now I am shivering..hahahaha. Strange how some people love it. My hubby can eat chocolates and icing like I will eat a sandwich. LOL!
Mine too. I actually prefer savoury to sweet, but sometimes I force myself. 😀
Ah, so you do that too? LOL! Yeah, we have to do that so we can stay sweet. hahahaha
😆
Hula Momma’! 😉
Grand-Momma. 🙂
I will stick with the hula hoops ad, and pass on those creamy cakes!
You’re a very good girl, Christine. Go to the top of the class. 🙂
So how many hula hoops would you like me to start with, and how many of my vertebrae are likely to fall out per hoop. Just asking…..like visiting my doctor before starting vigorous exercise. I’ll munch away on some cake while I’m waiting for your advice. 🙂
I think my hula hoops should come with a health warning , GOF. I take no responsibility for falling vertebrae. 🙂
Ummm… Cakes
😛
After eating cupcakes the hola up can help you for staying fit.
This is true. 🙂
I had one of those vicious monster hula hoops with the lumps on the inside. I was showing off like a 12-year-old and trying to hoop around my knees. It slipped below my knee and bit me on the shin. A vein popped up and looked like it was going to explode. Scared me half to death. It’s still a purply mess. So . . . I won’t be buying it! I much preferred your pictures of the cakes!!! 😕
Owee!! I agree that they can be a bit vicious on occasion. I’ve had a few bruises around my waist. Sorry about your shin. 😦
Haha the case of the missing cupcake! Pity you’re not closer. I’ve been looking for a hula hoop!
Of course you have, Gunta. 😀
I used to have a weighted hula hoop too…it didn’t make the move to our new house either. 😉 A great workout but it left lots of bruises. 😦
Oh yes, I also had the bruises at first. I have a hoop waiting for me in Florida. 🙂
I can hula, I must get one!
I don’t know why but I had to re-follow you, it’s funny I was thinking about you the other day and then you appeared but you haven’t been in my reader for ages. I’ve had a nice time browsing back but still missed loads.
Yes I imagine you can, Gilly. Thanks for following again. I’ve missed your presence here, but hoped that one day you might resurface. xx
I never could do that, Ad! Eat cakes, I mean 🙂
Yeah right, Jo. Me neither. 🙂
great rounds…I noticed there is one cupcake gone???
Yes, I also noticed that. A mystery. 🙂
You holding up the hut roof at the time as hula hooping Sylvia ? Now that’s clever !
Everything in moderation 😉 cakes included .
I’m a multi-tasker, Poppy. 🙂
You look like an expert hula hooper! I agree a great work out.
Thanks, Sue. Not an expert, but I can keep it going for as long as you like. 🙂
That’s awesome. Would love to see that some day!
Good pics ~ I’ve lost my proficiency with hula hoops. Great exercise for whittling the waist.
Yes it is, Nancy. I don’t do it as often as I used to. 🙂
I used to love playing with hula hoops. I don’t know if I’d be able to keep it up now though lol
Maybe you should buy mine and keep in trim. 🙂
Do I get free delivery to JHB? 😉
I think the courier charge would be more than the hoop is worth. 🙂
🙂
That black forest cake looks stunning!
I tried hula hooping the other day – unfortunately I can no longer do it 😦
It’s just like riding a bicycle……..well not quite. 🙂
Your hula skills are almost as impressive as those cupcakes.
I’ve eaten Black Forest Cake in the Black Forest too. Cakes like that never stay around for long.
Thanks so much. Yes, cakes never last too long around here. 🙂
I was wondering how long one would have to hula to work off one of those cupcakes? Cute post ad 🙂
Thanks so much. Maybe about half an hour. 😦
The first two “a-round” can keep you in shape. The last two “a-round” keep you out of shape. I guess to balance thing out you do round of the first, second, first, second … a-round.
Great plan, YC. You first. 🙂
I am not sure I like to do the first a-round but definitely love to have the other two a-round 🙂
Good Q Chris…LOL!!!
Chris is just jealous. 🙂
So, what happened to that cup cake? LOL!!!!
Absolutely no idea. Nobody owned up. 🙂
They sure looked delicious….
What happened to the missing cupcake AD 😕
Maybe my grandson ate it. 🙂
