Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge: Does your chewing gum lose its flavour?

On our trip to Costa Rica last year, we stayed for a few nights at the Hotel San Bada in the beach resort of Manuel Antonio. In the grounds, we came upon this rather odd concrete sculpture. It looked in need of some finishing touches, and someone else had obviously been of the same opinion, because they’d stuck pink chewing gum in its nostrils.

If you don’t get my title, you’re probably too young to remember ‘The King of Skiffle’, Lonnie Donegan, who had a big hit on the 1950’s with this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6bFTVi0hHs&feature=kp, “Does your chewing gum lose its flavour on the bedpost overnight.”

  1. It looks like the pink chewing has change the whole sculpture’s look. It is a rather ugly piece of art. I don’t like chewing gum – always bite myself *smile

  2. Ha! Yeah it deserves to be a part of this challenge … however sometimes when people stick chewing gum in random places it reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaally burns me out because it usually gets stuck on me. 🙂

  3. I’m definitely seeing it as pink eyes… and now I won’t be able to wipe that song out of my head (what is it they call that — an earbug?) GREAT shot, though. You sure do know how to meet these challenges!

  4. This is hilarious, what a great photo! I suppose it’s better than sticking the gum under a table in a restaurant…gross!! You have a real eye for capturing unusual sights Sylvia, love it 🙂 xx

  5. LOL. This is one odd statue…The person who stuck the gum there was very creative. It turned out to be a very happy-looking statue. To me, it looks like a bit of a monkey 🙂
