A Playfulness of Dolphins.

Our hotel room with a view, afforded us a splendid vista of the Indian Ocean, and Sunday was a good day for dolphin spotting.

Isn’t it true that the sight of even one dolphin fin, can bring a smile to our faces? Where there is one, there are sure to be more.

Dolphins are very social creatures, and a joy to watch as they frolic in the waves, with not a care in the world.

DSCN9139“Man has always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much … the wheel, New York, wars, and so on … while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man … for precisely the same reason.” ~ Douglas Adams

“The happiness of the bee and the dolphin is to exist. For man, it is to know that, and to wonder at it.” ~ Jacques Yves Cousteau

  1. Jacques Cousteau said it so well Sylvia. I love dolphins! These are great pics hon. Thanks for sharing. 😀 ♥ hugs ♥

  2. Oh, yes. I would smile if I see one. In Fl, I always looked for them in the Indian river. People often spotted them in a clan. I think I only saw them once or twice the most.

  3. Perfect quotes, Sylvia, and lovely shots of dolphins at play. I find it hard to photograph them, but you obviously clicked at the right time. 🙂 Between your sunsets and dolphins, I”d say your weekend away was ideal. I can only imagine what the cuisine is like…:)

  4. Wonderful creatures, and anyone who drills for oil or gas near them needs to be … well, I won’t say what I’ll do (just think it) … but dolphins are mega sensitive to sonic disturbance. No time for play under such circumstances. They just swim away fast in a terrible state of upset and never come back to that part of the sea again. They can even pick up the sonic disturbances caused by fracking for shale gas just a little inland near the coast.

I love both of those quotes from two men who ‘are’ in possession of wisdom.
