We saw a huge number of flashy sports cars in Knightsbridge, London, but this gold chrome Ferrari 458 Spider, really won first prize in the bling stakes. I chased it down the road, until it stopped at the next set of traffic lights, so I could get a pic.

Dang, that car is hot!
I wouldn’t mind a ride in it. π
DAYUM!
π Love the accent, RoSy.
π
gud chase and caught π
Thanks, Henry. π
Picturing you chasing this down the road… π
Yes, I had to elbow my way through the people on the sidewalk, but I was determined to get my shot before the lights changed. π
Bling is an understatement! Wow! What a find! π
π
This lead me to invent a word. Gaudy. Beautiful. Gaudiful.
That Ferrari is gaudiful!
BTW – it’s pronounced “god awful.” π
π Thanks for the new word, and the pronunciation. π
WOWZA!
Agreed. π
hahaha … that is hysterical. I could see people wondering why you were running. I hope the driver didn’t give you a bad look. It is a beautiful car but a little much for me.
Were the windows tinted? It’s hard to tell. I wonder if a star was driving it.
This post brings up a great deal of questions. π
This Ferrari is definitely a bit too much for my taste π
I agree with you, Inga. A bit too much money too. π
Been there, done that. Too close to the ground for comfort and damned difficult to get in and out of π
I’ve owned 2 E-type Jags, and absolutely loved them, but these days, I feel much safer looking down at other vehicles, rather than up at them. I guess my youthful confidence has dissipated over the years. π¦
Hope you still have those etypes, stored away. Worth a small fortune these days.
Oh, I love fast cars Sylvia and this one is a beauty indeed. Great shot! π
Thanks, Sonel. I’m sure that Simba would look great sitting next to you in this. π
Oh, he would love that indeed. I don’t know if I would look as great as he would, but we’ll try. hahahahaha
can you imagine parking this, there must surely be about 50 guards who surround it. WOW
No I can’t imagine parking it. I always get nervous backing into a space if there are people watching, and I’m sure the ‘carparazzi’ would be out in force. π―
Yes this is an area for those cars… Ferrari… Lamborghini… just down the road in South Kensington is the Lambo Sales room where I saw a bargain last time for only Β£202 000. And it was a frog green Lambo too! π
So why didn’t you buy it? I suppose you didn’t really like the colour. π
yes very true π
Nice one Sylvia. I think when my Mini grows up it could look a bit like that π
Thanks, Anna. Just imagine if it did! π―
I think you might not have to chase down much if you go by Harrods. I saw fancy cars a couple of times there.
It’s certainly the place to be seen. π
I would not cross the street to see it.
Even from across the street, it still hits you in the eye. π―
I absolutely love the fact that you chased it down the road, Sylvia! Great work π
Thanks, Dianne. We bloggers are funny creatures. π
WOW…well, I’m quite lost for words there…
It does defy description. π
When I grow up I’ll buy a red!
π
But I think I have to wait 500 years…
Hahaha. Me too. π
Horrendous beast!
π
br to much traffic for me but great photo.
Thanks, Marylou. π
oh wow if there ever was flaunting lol
You can say that again, Andy. π
π
The number plate tells you where they’re from. Show offs. Nice picture, though π
Toys for rich boys. π
AD we know it’s yours stop pretending… (don’t worry we both wish)
I really wouldn’t own up to it, bulldog. You’d all hate me. π
You think? You might just gain a few more friends lol
So you saw me in my new car then Sylvia π
Hehehe. In your Prada shades? π
Of course π
I would have run after it too…how amazing. I don’t want one, but I am happy to see it.
Thanks, Debra. Glad you liked it. π
WOW! Talk about understated. I am sure the owner is a humble man. π
Tee hee. π
Wow! That car is truly ‘expressive!” π I would not want to be the car that scratches it. π
Me neither, Imelda. π
I can hear that deep vroom, vroom from here! I’d be terrified of scratching it!
Oh yes, it did have a lovely growl, just like my E-type used to have. π I would give a car like that a wide berth, just in case we met by accident.
You think the same way as me π
This left me speechless…
Yes, it is a bit of a, “Well what can i say?” sort of car. π
Hilarious!
The two young guys in the car, looked like they took themselves very seriously. π
Bless them π
Wow now that says FLASHY!
Indubitably, Sue. π
i think they call it “car wrapping”.. instead of using paint, a film like material with your choice of color will be installed or wrapped to your car.. if you got tired of it the material could be removed like a sticker.
Now that’s quite interesting, Elizz. If I see another car like this, I’ll look for the end of the wrapping, and pull. π
hahaha…
I have seen one or two of these. Apparently the young men who own these cars bring them over to London from their Middle Eastern homes for a couple of months just to show them off. They spend the summer driving them round the area, and in the evenings, when the roads are a little quieter, they drive them at speed.
These youngsters are obviously from very wealthy families. I’m sure they can afford to pay the fines, if caught speeding. π
There was one in the last few days covered in swarovski crystals. I bet that caught a few eyes.
Yes, I saw that one in the newspaper I was reading on the plane. Such indulgence! Can you imagine having that sort of money to spend on such ostentatious frippery? π―
Wow …. Maximus bling!
Hahaha. Absolutely “Maximus.” π
Conspicuous consumption at its tackiest! What do you think the vanity plate means?
I so agree with you. I suppose the vanity plate says, “I’m the number 1 wealthiest, young, spoilt kid in Iraq.” π
Like that interpretation!!
Well done for getting your picture Sylvia. I guess if you can affored the Ferrari you can afford someone to polish it! Wouldn’t be my taste though. Something a little more understated would suit much better, a different colour perhaps!. π
Thanks, Adrian. Fortunately the traffic was moving quite slowly, but the pavement was quite crowded. I think a red one would suit you very well. π
