Here’s my entry for Paula’s Black and White Sunday Challenge. This week she suggests the theme, “Beauty in the Beast.”
This gorgeous Cheetah was just a few feet away, as we stopped in our open safari truck to admire her. She looked absolutely magnificent in her natural colours, but I think she looks pretty good in black and white too.

Hahaha. I think you’re quite safe. 🙂
Cheetahs is indeed beautiful cats … And you really have captured that in your photo … // Maria 🙂
Thanks, Maria. They’re so elegant, aren’t they? 🙂
Magestic in B&W!
Thanks so much, Frank. 🙂
I’ll add my voice to the masses. Just as stunning in B & W! 🙂
Thanks so much, Lorna. 🙂
Absolutely beautiful photo, oh how I would love to go on a safari. I’m working on hubby to take me one for our 10th wedding anniversary, year after next. Plenty of time to save, right? Lovely this Sylvia, just lovely… xx
Thanks so much, Sherri. Keep working on him. 🙂 Good luck. xx
Thanks Sylvia…and don’t worry, I will… 😛 xx
Indeed Sylvia, she is really beautiful. Amazing photo shot!
Thanks so much, DellaAnna. 🙂
Beautiful cat and I like that you did it in black and white. How wonderful that the cheetah and you were in the “right place at the same time”.
Thanks, Iris. Yes, it was such a great experience. 🙂
Cheetah is my favourite big cat. I don’t think I have seen one with a black and white treatment though. I usually associate them with the dust of the desert. Works well because of the strong pattern and facial markings and contrast. Nice one Sylvia 🙂
Thanks so much, Jude. Glad you liked this. 🙂
She does look languid and peaceful
Lovely adjectives, Pauline. She was quite content to just recline there and bask in our admiration. 🙂
Beautiful and magnificent creature. A very thrilling experience.
Yes it was, IT. I was so fortunate to have this wonderful experience. 🙂
Lovely photo!! I love how the black spots just pop in the picture!! I think I would be a little nervous getting that close to a cheetah though!
Thanks, Constance. I trusted our game ranger to know that we would be safe. 🙂
What a beauty!
Absolutely. 🙂
Wow!
Thanks, Lisa. 🙂
She looks cool in whatever way she’s presented!
Yes, I’m sure she would, Tiny. Such a gorgeous creature. 🙂
Looks like something your sister would paint. Only she’d color it in. 😀
Nice!
Thanks, Gemma. I agree with you. 🙂
She’s absolutely relaxed. One will recognize a cheetah in any color. The markings are so lovely. 🙂
Thanks so much, Imelda. Yes she was very relaxed indeed, and didn’t move a muscle whilst we photographed her. 🙂
my favourite of all creatures. 😉
So glad you enjoyed, Gerry. 🙂
It’s amazing that you managed to get up so close to the cheetah, you were definitely very lucky that day
Yes we were. She totally ignored us. 🙂
She carries off black and white with such style! 🙂
Yes she does. 🙂
glorious! ❤
Thanks, Cindy. 🙂
You are so right Sylvia. She does look magnificent in B&W! Excellent entry. 😀
Thanks so much, Sonel. 🙂
Wow although she looks very relaxed I am sure she could have a snack in no time! Beautiful in black and white.
I like her pattern in Black & White. What fascinates me that she does not seem too bothered with your presence 😀 Beautiful beast and photo 🙂 Thank you for this entry. xx
Thanks so much, Paula. Glad you like my photo. I think she wasn’t hungry, so was feeling very relaxed. 🙂
😆 which reminds me that I always go to the Zoo way after lunch so I find all lions sleeping. Next time I will go just a bit before to get some exciting shots 😀 Sylvia, you have given me ideas with your B&W entry as I have a pic of cheetah that I am now curious to see in black and white 😀 Thank you 🙂
🙂 xx
I do enjoy your photography, but prefer it when in colour…
Thanks, bulldog. Me too, but a challenge is a challenge. 🙂
I think they are the most elegant of the big cats, so sleek!
I agree with you, although the lion is my favourite. I couldn’t find my pic of Mr. Leo. 😦
Cheetahs have such small heads when measured against their long, sleek bodies. She’s an absolute beauty.
Yes they do, and that long sleek body looks so strokable. 🙂
She certainly is a beauty.
Thanks, Colline. Yes she is. 🙂
What a relaxed pose! Love it’s tail curled so nicely. Lovely this black and white photo, Sylvia. Are cheetahs friendly?
Thanks, Lola. I really wouldn’t know about ‘friendly’. I’m sure that if I went to stroke it, it might react in a not so friendly manner. 🙂
Gorgeous cat!
Yes it is. 🙂
It looks so calm and just makes me want to go and patch the Cheetah.
Me too. 🙂 You go first.
LoL 🙂
I also felt the same, YC, but I managed to restrain myself. 🙂
