A fabulous anniversary meal and a Christmas walk.

Our Anniversary was celebrated at the historic Sundy House restaurant in Delray. This Queen Anne style house was built in 1902 by the first mayor of Delray, and is set in a tranquil botanic garden with pools and waterfall features. We were seated out on the terrace opposite one of theΒ  Savannah style gazebos, overlooking the ‘Cenote’, a natural freshwater, living pool. It was the perfect romantic setting for our evening out.

The menu was really tempting, and we both decided to have three courses. My crispy calamari appetiser was scrumptious, and hubby loved his butternut stuffed ravioli.

My main’s choice was Cioppino, which consisted of split Maine lobster tail, shrimp, PEI mussels, littleneck clams, roasted fennel, spicy tomato broth and grilled sourdough.

Hubby’s rack of lamb was really tender, and there was plenty of it.

I know that most of you are not at all interested in delicious desserts, but just in case one or two of you might be, here’s my Key Lime pie.

Hubby’s Creme Brulee looked to die for. It was quite small, so I didn’t beg any, but I did let him have a taste of mine. That’s true love for you. πŸ™‚

After our meal, we decided to go into the town to see the Christmas lights. Imagine my amazement when, walking out of the restaurant, I saw hubby’s surprise anniversary present to me; a tangerine coloured Lamborghini! It might sound ungrateful of me, but I would have preferred it in silver, so I’m afraid it has to go back. It was a nice thought though.Β  πŸ™‚

The Christmas tree in the town square was the same as last year and the year before, but still very beautiful.

You can walk right inside it to see the Christmas displays.

(Click on any image in the gallery, for a better view.)

Looking up from inside the tree, this is what you see; a myriad multi-coloured stars.

Outside, was a beautiful nativity scene.

I couldn’t leave without a Santa pic, could I? Doesn’t he have a jolly face?

I had such a sublime evening with the love of my life. Here’s to another great year together.

Wishing you all a superb weekend. You have less than six days left to do your Christmas shopping.

  4. Sylvia, I can not get over how GREAT you look. I can’t believe you have been married almost fifty years. You don’t even look that old. I am so jealous. LOL … are your sure you aren’t telling us an orange Lamborghini story? I also wanted to mention that walk-in Christmas tree — what a superb idea, how fun! As always, you’ve outdone yourself one more time! Thank you for the lovely share. πŸ™‚

    • Well, thanks for the compliment. I think hubby looks after me really well. Glad you enjoyed the Christmas tree pics. It is a great innovation, isn’t it. No wonder they keep trotting it out year after year. πŸ˜€

  5. What a lovely meal Sylvia. I’m pleased that you rejected the car. Hint for a Lear Jet with a hammock slung up in the cabin if I was you πŸ˜‰ ❀

  6. What a lovely evening and congrats again on your special day. Too funny about your present. Now that would have been a surprise!

  7. Happy Anniversary, Sylvia! What a wonderful celebration! Wishing you both many more blissful years ahead! πŸ™‚
Btw, you can send the tangerine L my way! anytime i’ll take it! LOL πŸ™‚

  8. WOW what an anniversary. It will be hard to top that when #50 comes along.
Did you ask for a doggie bag? I don’t know how anyone could have finished what was on your plates. πŸ™‚

    • Yes it certainly would. A bit too ostentatious for my taste, and of course another downside is that people like me would always be taking photos of it. πŸ™‚ The chef, David Cordova, was excellent, and I read that he is self taught.

  9. Happy Anniversary dear AD, seems that you had a wonderful time and your gift is amazing πŸ™‚ Thank you I loved all photographs, but especially these little things πŸ™‚ Love, nia

  10. Sounds like a good time was had by all – nice one! Ai such a pity that the colour was wrong – but you can’t go driving it’s not right – the way things are, hey? 6 days of shopping? No thanks…staying FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR away from the crowds this year…
