I hope you all had as wonderful a Christmas Day feast as I had.
The buffet tables were laden with every delicious food one could possibly think of. There was excellent live piano and saxophone music, playing everything from Chopin, to the Blues and very lively Rock ‘n’ Roll, with even a few Christmas melodies thrown into the mix. People were dancing in the aisles and there was such a happy vibe. That was only lunch, and in the evening, we went to visit more friends for another party and yet more food and drink. There were ten desserts on offer, and this morning it’s off to the gym, for tonight we have an ‘Italian Evening’ dinner, which also promises to be quite calorific. Who was it who said, “Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we diet?” 😕
What a wonderful time you’ve had! The photo is lovely.
Many thanks for participating in Floral Friday Fotos and best wishes for Happy New Year 2015!
Thanks so much, Nick. 🙂
hahah
“Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we diet?”
happy new year S!!
Happy New Year to you too. 🙂
I’m saving any gym activity for after the first – I have to work myself up to the ambition these days.
You could come to our two and a half hour class on January 1st. That should start your year off on the right foot. 😀
Yikes! That would shock my system – 2 1/2 HOURS?
I think that’s the general idea. Start off the year as you mean to go on. 😀
10 desserts? Can I come round?
Well, I’m afraid you’re a bit too late. 😦
Oh no!
Dancing, eating … there, you’re getting your exercise, Sylvia. Ten desserts on offer — what heaven! Knowing me, I’d try a spoonful of each dessert and then go back for seconds of my favourite one. It always pleased me at boarding school that so many of the older girls were on diets, which meant that I got 2nd and 3rd helpings of pudding every day!
Oh my goodness……..boarding school! What puddings did you get? Probably bread pudding and spotted dick with custard. That’s what we got at our grammar school. Oh yes, I almost forgot the frogspawn tapioca! 😯
I love tapioca with cocoa powder sprinkled on it! Puddings at school — yes, spotted dick, jam roly poly, chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce, crumble etc, etc. I never had any trouble with my waistline, other than it being too slim at times. At the moment it’s about right, while most of my contemporaries are fighting the flab, so I still like puddings!
You sound like me. I was always being ragged at school because I was tall and very slim, and my family nickname was “Beany”. I tried at one stage to put weight on after I had my first baby, but it didn’t work. 🙂
I just got skinnier after each of my two babies!
Me too. I had this idea that mothers should be more voluptuous, but thankfully it never happened for me. 🙂
Enjoy!!!! But do tell how on earth you manage to look the way you do with such hollow legs? 🙂
Hahaha. Thanks for the compliment, Madhu. No-one’s perfect, but lucky genes and regular exercise does help a lot. 🙂
oh my word, while it sounds amaze-balls, all that food would have had me hyperventilating, err, sorry, meant to say over-eating 🙂
Hehehe. You’re so funny. 🙂
Wunderschöne Blumen hoffe ihr Weihnachten war schön ich wünsche von Herzen ein schönes ruhiges Wochenende lieber Gruß und Freundschaft.Gislinde
Thanks so much, Gislinde. Hope you’re having a great weekend. 🙂 xx
I’m so impressed you have detailed a session at the gym in the centre of all that decadence Sylvia. I am, quietly, thinking of joining the gym, again, next week to try and get in trim for end of March and the cruise as I’m thinking it will be eat, drink and be merry for 14 days!!!!!!
Thanks, Pauline. Tomorrow morning is Boot Camp, and there’s a New Year’s Day special of two and a half hours of varied exercise which includes everything from yoga to zumba to kickboxing and more. We’re game to try it. 😯
You certainly are game Sylvia. Now I know how you keep looking so young…
Certainly did..enjoyable day it was.
Most enjoyable. 🙂
Eat drink and be merry, then tomorrow we diet, huh? I think I’m going to have to diet the entire month of January to make up for the Christmas goodies.
Here’s hoping your New Year is as good as your Christmas has been. 🙂
Thanks so much, Marcy. You too. 🙂
Beautiful photo! Well, I’m not following the saying – am merry today and I don’t diet:):)
Thanks so much. From tomorrow, it’s back to normal eating. Thank goodness for that. 🙂
I’m feeling quite abstemious with my bowl of cashews, Ad 🙂
I couldn’t eat even one tiny cashew at the moment, Jo. You may have them all to yourself. 🙂
Happy holidays..In this time of the year no diet.Lovely flowers my dear.
Thanks so much, MaryLou. 🙂
I had a feast at the Huddle House yesterday, today I wish I had’nt.. 🙂
That sounds good. Unlike you, I have no regrets. 😀
Beautiful flowers! And I agree no diet at holiday time, we just need to keep moving, jog/run, gym, dance – everything goes 😀
Thanks, Tiny. I agree with you. The trick is to keep active. My Garmin Vivofit which Santa brought, tells me I’ve already done a couple of miles today. 🙂
Happy holidays, Sylvia…..keep that food coming! 😀
Thanks, Sue. My sentiments, exactly. 🙂
What a lovely collection of color! Tom The Backroads Traveller
Thanks, Tom. Yes the table decorations were beautiful. 🙂 Happy New Year to you.
That was a wonderful time! Diet, will do 🙂
Yes it was, YC. I’m enjoying all this festive food. 🙂
Goodness I’m struggling to eat anything on day two and I only managed lunch yesterday!
You obviously don’t have hollow legs, Gilly. 😀
Sounds great 🙂
We ad a peacefull Brunch at home…
That also sounds like a good way to celebrate. 🙂
Very classy … thus fitting for you and hubby.
Thanks, Frank. I do love “classy.” 😀
Happy holidays, Sylvia! Enjoy the mood and all the delights this season brings, and forget about all the diets – you always look beautiful.
Thanks so much, Ese. I was just joking about the diet. 😀
My scales this morning revealed a number in the RED DANGER ZONE . . . I have to dial back on the treats and step up the exercise a bit. HO~HO~OH~NO!
Your day sounds FAB as do your plans for tonight. Our nieces are coming today. Yay!
Hahaha. That sounds par for the course over Christmas, Nancy. Enjoy your time with the nieces. 🙂
Diet? psh it’s two weeks of holidays, there’s no such thing as a diet 😛
Yes, you’re absolutely correct, Andy. Diet, shmiet!
Eeeexactly 😄
