Last Christmas, our daughter bought us this beautiful casserole dish, and of course I had to try it out, even though the weather was really warm here in Florida. Some of you in colder climes might appreciate a plate of spicy hot chicken, onion, garlic and red pepper stew.
Footnote:
After the indulgence of the past couple of days, I’m not even thinking about food today, apart from looking at this photo. Well, maybe just a bit of fruit for lunch. π
Oh yum, whether the weather is hot or cold it looks delicious. Great choice for the challenge!
Thanks so much, Tina. π
any leftovers, please?… π so funny that the French term “la/une casserole” means “saucepan” in English… π
Not a chance of any leftovers where hubby’s concerned. π I thought the word casserole comes from the french word casse. π
My mouth is starting to water, and it’s not even noon! What a wonderful gift.
Thanks, Marion. I was over the moon with my gift. My daughter is so generous. π
I could do with that hot meal tonight…lovely take on the theme and we’ve got 13 degrees C below zero.
Wow, that’s really cold! It’s warm here tonight and I’m making baked salmon steaks. π
It’s still a few hours til dinner and I’m sooooooo hungry. This looks too too delish!
Thanks, Gemma. It was. I can still remember just how tasty. π
Great choice for the challenge!
Thanks, LuAnn. π
This post makes me hungry ..wow
Thanks, Jake. π
Such a clever pic for the theme ad. π
Thanks so much. Glad you liked it. π xx
Gorgeous casserole . . . perfect for the theme of warmth.
Thanks, Nancy. π
Maybe your daughter bought you the casserole dish so you’d have an excuse to cook for her π The stew looks amazing.
Thanks, Mabel. I would love to cook for my daughter, but she would have to catch a plane from South Africa to Florida. π
mmm…looks and sounds delicious Sylvia!
Thanks, Heather. π
Yes do send that off to us straight away! It will go nicely with my fleece jacket that I am sporting indoors with wool sleeves underneath. π
I saw the temperatures there today on CNN. They weren’t pretty. π¦
Here’s hoping for mild weather when we leap into the frozen lake on Jan 1st!!
I wouldn’t hold your breath. π―
They don’t call it the ice breaker challenge for nothing!
Looks yummy!
Thanks, Sheila. π
Yum! It looks super tasty. It got a little chilly today so I am ready. π
Thanks, Angelia. Hope your weather warms up soon. π
You really would have known ‘warm’ if you had still been here on Christmas Day! Over 30 in Durbs is a bit of a swelter.
Yes, my sister told me all about the scorcher of a Christmas you were having.
Yum!
π Thanks, Carol.
Mmmm… my favorite sort of dish. I’d take that over all the deserts you’ve been teasing everyone with. π
Me too. Gunta. π
That casserole is one of high quality
Yes it is, and I love it. π
Definitely my kind of dish!!! Recipe??
Pretty much what I’ve told you. Fry seasoned skinless chicken breasts in olive oil for 5 minutes each side. Put in casserole dish. Fry chopped onions and crushed garlic; add a dessert spoon of flour, a few herbs, some cumin and then a pint of chicken or vegetable stock, and bring to boil, add red peppers for a couple of minutes, then put all this on top of the chicken and bake for 30 minutes on 375 F. I might have put in a few chopped carrots too. Sometimes I add a tin of chopped tomatoes instead of the peppers. I usually make recipes up, just using what I have. Hubby never complains. π
WELL DARN! I wrote off a reply… THANK YOU THANK YOU and then left it for a minute to look elsewhere and the reply was gone. lol It was a long one too. π
SO again thanks for writing out the long recipe!! Will be made soon.
Posting before I lose this one. π¦
I know the feeling. π¦ It’s so frustrating when that happens, and it’s always the long replies that go AWOL. π¦
Might have to leave those healthy peppers out, Ad π Nice dish though!
Thanks, Jo. Sorry about the peppers. π
I love casserole π Yummers!
Me too. Thanks, Andy. π
Looks good and definitely should be perfect for any weather.
Thanks, YC. Yes it actually is always perfect, whatever the weather. π
OH, I feel slightly less frozen just looking at that! Yummy…
Best wishes to you from chilly London!
Emma π
Thanks. Emma. Looking at the weather forecast tonight, I didn’t envy you. π
Ooh yes, please, I’ll have a spoonful or two of that (hurries into kitchen to fetch a bowl…)
xx
Hehehe. You’d be very welcome to try it, Jude. π
Looks so yummy!!!
Thanks, RV. It was. π
Could do with some of that casserole Sylvia to keep out the cold here. It’s freezing. Enjoy the Florida warmth and the casserole. Looks delicious! π
Today is a semi-fasting day, and the casserole is long gone, Adrian. I made it when we got back to Florida from New Jersey, last January. π Keep warm.
That casserole looks yummy, Sylvia π
Scheduled for us, later today, is Turkey curry. Unusually, Mister has told me in advance that he wants a small portion! He said this, after eating a huge Stilton cheese and bacon sandwich for lunch.
Thanks, Sarah. Your ‘Mister’ sounds as though he has a good appetite. π
And a round belly to match!
