Mischievous Squirrel for Ailsa’s Travel Theme

Almost every day, I see two mischievous squirrels chasing one another up and down the palm trees in my backyard.

Usually they’re much too quick for me to get a photo, and are gone again before I’ve had time to grab my camera. Yesterday one of them decided to play a trick on his friend, and raced around the corner of the house to hide behind the barbeque. This was when I got my chance for a quick snap, as squirrel #2 came down the tree and appeared baffled as to where his playmate had disappeared to. He stood still for a few seconds, trying to work it out, which gave me just enough time to capture the mischievous look on his sweet face, before he scampered off in search of his playmate. You can almost see his little mind working away, can’t you?

Wishing you all a splendid weekend, and do try to stay out of mischief. 😉

  2. Haha…so cute, love squirrels. Did you hear that Red Squirrels are making a comeback in the UK Sylvia? I’m so glad as I remember seeing them in the woods when I was little 🙂

  3. I’ve always loved squirrels. When we were younger and we went to Cape Town, my parents would always take us to Kirstenbosch and we’d have loads of fun searching for squirrels and other animals

  4. Ah .. I do find them cute .. often find walnuts they’ve hidden in my flower tubs ! Wishing you a mischievous weekend Sylvia 😉

      • Now that sounds fantastic Sylvia … we’ve been for an early Dinner out and no dancing … well … maybe after another glass of vino 😀
        Enjoy !

  5. City squirrels seem to be so friendly. When I was a child, we lived in Ft. Lauderdale for awhile and we had four palm trees in our front yard. We would spread peanut butter on crackers and stick them to the trees. The squirrels would come down for their snacks. They let us scratch their backs while they munched. This post takes me back to those memorable days as a youth. Thank you!

  6. He looks so cute. Why can’t I like those critters? When I was very young friend of mine had one caught in a cage and kept it as a pet for a while until it got really nasty with him. Maybe that’s why. And maybe he didn’t like the cage.😫
