Almost every day, I see two mischievous squirrels chasing one another up and down the palm trees in my backyard.
Usually they’re much too quick for me to get a photo, and are gone again before I’ve had time to grab my camera. Yesterday one of them decided to play a trick on his friend, and raced around the corner of the house to hide behind the barbeque. This was when I got my chance for a quick snap, as squirrel #2 came down the tree and appeared baffled as to where his playmate had disappeared to. He stood still for a few seconds, trying to work it out, which gave me just enough time to capture the mischievous look on his sweet face, before he scampered off in search of his playmate. You can almost see his little mind working away, can’t you?
Wishing you all a splendid weekend, and do try to stay out of mischief. 😉

That sounds like fun, Annalisa. Those cheeky squirrels are everywhere. 🙂
Haha…so cute, love squirrels. Did you hear that Red Squirrels are making a comeback in the UK Sylvia? I’m so glad as I remember seeing them in the woods when I was little 🙂
That’s lovely, Sherri. My MiL in West Sussex, has red squirrels who raid her bird feeders every year. 🙂
Ahh, Sylvia, how wonderful 🙂 My Granny lived in Chichester for 35 years and as you know my boys live in Lewes and Brighton so West Sussex is a place very close to my heart…so lovely to know red squirrels are still seen there and what a delight for your MiL 🙂
Thanks, Sherri. Yes they are great entertainment, as she watches them from her seat by the window. 🙂
How funny.
They are fun to watch. 🙂
I`m focusing to this one , I never seen a true squillers in my life 🙂
Really? That’s amazing, Jake. I’m glad you like him. 🙂
True .
I’ve always loved squirrels. When we were younger and we went to Cape Town, my parents would always take us to Kirstenbosch and we’d have loads of fun searching for squirrels and other animals
Yes, they’re such cute little rascals, aren’t they? 🙂
Wunderschöne Fotos wünsche ein gutes und schönes Wochenende lieber Gruß Gislinde
Thanks so much, Gislinde. Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂
His mind is clearly in high gear, planning his next trick, I’m sure
Absolutely, Tiny. 🙂
That squirrel totally looks like it is posing for you – kind of like it is modeling and showing you its best side!
Hahaha. Looks like it. 🙂
Such wonderfully playful creatures 🙂
Yes, they certainly are fun to watch. 🙂
He seems to be puzzled by the photographer. I think you must look very curious to him 🙂
I don’t think he could see me through the glass door. 🙂
Ah 🙂
Very well captured and what is he cute!
Thanks, Marylou. 🙂
Aww, that’s smashing Sylvia! Well captured! 🙂

Ah .. I do find them cute .. often find walnuts they’ve hidden in my flower tubs ! Wishing you a mischievous weekend Sylvia 😉
Now I want to come searching in your flower tubs, Poppy. I love walnuts. 🙂 Going dinner dancing tonight, but I’ll see if I can make a bit of mischief. 🙂
Now that sounds fantastic Sylvia … we’ve been for an early Dinner out and no dancing … well … maybe after another glass of vino 😀
Enjoy !
I know that look… see it in the mirror quite often. 😉
Hahaha. That made me laugh, Gunta. 🙂
sooo cute and sweet… I LOVE these “critters”! 🙂 while in Houston, TX, they would come in our yard and would eat our cat’s dry food… 🙂
Thanks, Mélanie. They are such naughty little sweeties, aren’t they, but you can’t help loving them. 🙂
City squirrels seem to be so friendly. When I was a child, we lived in Ft. Lauderdale for awhile and we had four palm trees in our front yard. We would spread peanut butter on crackers and stick them to the trees. The squirrels would come down for their snacks. They let us scratch their backs while they munched. This post takes me back to those memorable days as a youth. Thank you!
Now your putting idea into my head, Marcy. : The neighbours would probably think I’d gone crazy. 🙂
My neighbors already think I’m a little crazy— they are probably right. 🙂 Seriously, how many adults do you know that play with Orples? And I love squirrels. I can watch them playing in the trees for hours.
looks like he’s up to something; so cute! have a wonderful weekend, Sylvia! 🙂
Thanks, Lola. yes he does look like a naughty little boy. 🙂
We have a few squirrels that were very mischievous and ate my bird seeds. My birds weren’t very happy with them. They do have the biggest eyes which makes them look innocent. 😃
Yes, I would love it if my eyes were bigger. 😃
It looks lovely and warm there Sylvia 🙂
Yes it is, Jude. Today it’s about 26C but quite breezy. 🙂
I’ll take breezy 🙂
He looks so cute. Why can’t I like those critters? When I was very young friend of mine had one caught in a cage and kept it as a pet for a while until it got really nasty with him. Maybe that’s why. And maybe he didn’t like the cage.😫
I can’t imagine that a squirrel would like being kept in a cage. No wonder it got nasty. I would too. 🙂
Throw me in a cage with a good book, a bottle of wine and some art supplies and I’d be happy for a long time. 😉
Just kidding, sort of…
😀 Until the wine ran out.
Aww, he is adorable! A great weekend to you too Sylvia 🙂
Thanks, Madhu. 🙂
Aww, cute! Have a great, mischief free weekend yourself!
Thanks, Sue. I’ll try. 🙂
Enjoy the weekend, Sylvia. I’ll TRY to stay out of mischief. 😛
Thanks, Nancy. Hope you don’t try too hard. 🙂

Me too. bulldog. 🙂
They are difficult to capture, aren’t they? Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks, LuAnn. Yes they’re much too fast for me. 🙂
Your squirrel is cute.
I always enjoy seeing squirrels even when they steal the bird seeds from the feeder. 🙂 Happy weekend, Sylvia.
Thanks, Imelda. Yes, you can’t help but love those cute little faces. 🙂
He’s on a mission! Cute photo, Sylvia. 🙂
Thanks, Jill. He looks full of mischief to me. 🙂
