Magical clouds at sunset

Yesterday evening whilst having dinner, I looked up at the setting sun and saw this fantastical figure riding through the sky. Can you also see the cherub face and the fluffy wings?

Did you know that there is name for the phenomenon of seeing faces and other images in the clouds? It’s called ‘Pareidolia’. If you also ‘suffer’ from this happy condition, you’re not alone.Β  There is a cloud appreciation society which has over 8,000 members.

  2. Hi S – just saw this video over on forthemo’s blog and the “pareidolia” in it reminded me of your post here….

  3. Cloud Appreciation Society! I hadn’t heard of it, I would have been a great member in my youth when I had time to lay down on the grass and stare at the sky. Great picture!

  4. I couldn’t see it for a minute and then it practically jumped out of the sky. Who knew the ability actually had a name, and a club! Thanks for sharing Sylvia. Learned something new today that’s for sure.

  5. I saw Elvis until you pointed out there was a cherub – and I saw it! Maybe the cherub has Elvis hair. πŸ™‚

As children, we would lie in the field next door and stare up at the sky and see something/someone in every cloud that floated (or blew on the windy days) by.
