Jude is asking for benches at the beach for her May Bench series. Here are a couple from my beloved Umhlanga Rocks beach in South Africa. Hoping to be back there quite soon for a brief stay.
If my title stirred a musical memory from the 1960’s, here it is.
Brings back great memories for me.

I’ve already sung this one with Sherri 🙂 Come on- let’s sing it again!
Lovely shots Sylvia. Is he doing crunches on that hard surface???
Thanks, Madhu. I’m not sure what he was doing, but it looked so uncomfortable. Maybe he sleeps on a bed of nails at home. 🙂
Great memories, and this film was a riot!
Oh yes, I so enjoyed the music video. Hubby and I really laughed out loud. 🙂
Ahh dear Sylvia, we are definitely on the same wavelength…A Sunny Afternoon it is for us both today 🙂 xx
Actually it’s been raining most of the day, and the pool party is going to be inside. I don’t mind though, as at least the mosquitoes can’t get me. 🙂
Such a wonderful bit of sun at the beach…Such a special time
Thanks so much, Charlie. 🙂
I’m too old to get very comfortable on a bench to enjoy the summer sun, but those folks seemed to have the technique down rather nicely. 🙂
Yes they do. It must be a South African thing. 🙂
Ah the good old warm days of Durban. Nice photos reminding me of my vacation in KZN.
Glad you enjoyed these, ZL. 🙂
Just yesterday I listened to some Kinks :D. These are fun captures. It does look uncomfortable!
Thanks, Paula. Yes it really does look uncomfortable, but anything for a suntan. 🙂
Ah, that was a great song! The benches are great, too.
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed. 🙂
Fingers xx’d for you Sylvia . It feels like an age since you were in SA …. for you too no doubt … Hoping for a Kinks type of afternoon but it’s not looking good Lol
Here’s to you sitting on one of those benches in the not too distant future 😉
Thanks, Poppy. The interview started off a bit scary, but ended well. 🙂
Ah such a weight off your mind Sylvia x … So now just the weight in your suitcase to sort 🙂
That’s true. We still have to wait for our Green Cards to arrive before we can book our trip. 😕
Thank you for that Kinks video. Oh boy did it bring back SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many memories, the 60’s were a wild time…. (and so long ago now… 😦 )
You’re so welcome to the blast from the past, Pauline. Yes I also have many “wild” memories from the 60’s. 🙂
It was a fun time…
Good luck tomorrow and hopefully, “happy travels”!
Thanks, Lisa. It turned out okay. 🙂
Whew, great news!
Oooh, the Kinks! Thanks for the happy visit to my younger years. Good luck with your travels!
Thanks so much for the good wishes, Linda. Glad you enjoyed the blast from the past. 🙂
Interesting capture of these men on the beach. Were the sun not to strong there? I hope they have good sun screen on heavily 🙂
Thanks, YC. Yes I’m sure the sun was very strong. I hope they didn’t burn to a crisp. 🙂
Definitely beach time! 🙂
Absolutely it is. 🙂
I can remember those in Umhlanga Rocks!
Thanks, Aletta. I think these two bench photos are quite different from the usual ones. 🙂
Hope you take some pics of the new, improved life saver’s hut, too. Holding thumbs for your Green Cards. (Are they called green cards because the grass in greener on the other side?? Haha)
Hahaha. Must be the reason why, because the cards are white, not green. 🙂 Yes, I’m looking forward to seeing the new lifeguard station, and will certainly take a few pics.
Oh, yes, The Kinks, with their cool music:-) Although, as far as Mod groups went, I admit to being more into The Who. There was also The Small Faces. And now I’m going to give my age away, as a teenager I saw all three of these groups in concert, but not at the same time!
How amazing that must have been! I never saw any of these groups live. 😦
It was amazing and something I’ll never forget. Fortunately for me, my mother was really into pop music, so took me to loads of concerts.
My parents were the exact opposite. We weren’t allowed to buy or play pop records at home. 😦
Oh dear, that was very strict of your parents D:
We even formed a fun family pop group of our own, with me on the piano, my brother on the drums, my mother clarinet (or singing) and my father on the guitar.
That sounds like a lot of fun. 🙂
love the summer images and music! oh i can’t wait for summer to come, Sylvia 🙂
Thanks, Lola. Something to really look forward to. 🙂
Looks so neat and tidy! I remember the bench with the exercising man, most uncomfortable I would have thought. Hope you get your Green Cards!!
Thanks, Jude. I hope so too. There’s a lot riding on it. 🙂
Fun images of people resting in the sun – and I enjoyed listening to the Kinks. It’s a long time…
Thanks, Otto. Yes a very long time ago, when we were young. *sigh* 🙂
Beautiful and fun scenes Sylvia ~
Thanks, Mary. Glad you enjoyed. 🙂
A Lovely spot to while away a minute or two as I’m sure you’ve done many times Sylvia!
Absolutely have, Adrian. Some very nice memories have been made at that beach. 🙂
I wanna go too! 🙂
I’ll see if I can find a tiny corner in my luggage. 🙂
Hope you get your wish and wind up back at the Umhlanga Rocks beach in South Africa soon.
Thanks, Nancy. It all depends on how our interview with the USCIS goes tomorrow morning. If we’re granted our Green Cards, we may be able to leave here within a week, to see family. 🙂
i wish you a happy reunion, soon. loved to look at this wonderful-haha-clip!
Thanks so much, Sirpa. Glad you enjoyed the song. 🙂
*happy smile*
Ah.. I wouldn’t mind spending like this at all 🙂
I’m sure you wouldn’t, Andy. 🙂
😊😊
Ahh thanks, I loved the Kinks, they were the best 60’s band 🙂
Oh yes, I so agree with you, Gilly. Just hearing them whisks me right back in time. 🙂
That bench laying looks a little uncomfortable to me but the sunshine looks marvelous. Love that song too. 🙂
Thanks, Sue. Yes it does look very uncomfortable, and I bet he has some serious indentations down his back when he gets up. 🙂 Happy you like my choice of song.
I wondered if you were missing the place….
Wonder no more, bulldog. The answer is “yes.” 🙂
