We were too busy getting the other house ready to sell. Eric went kayaking a few times recently, but the wind was ghastly and the water was too rough for a novice like me. Hoping I get a chance again once summer is over. Oddly enough, summer brings the nasty winds from the north. Some of our best weather happens in the winter.
Ghastly wind and rough water sounds very hectic! I would probably be indoors. 🙂
We’ve kayaked a couple of times around here, but never in the Gulf. I’d enjoy it . . . as long as I stayed in sight of the shore. I have no interest in paddling for miles with no land on the horizon.
Thanks, Gilly. I saw it on a bumper sticker, and when I researched the origin, found that it dates back to the late 1800’s. A popular verse to put in people’s autograph books. 🙂
What a fabulous saying and great picture to match 😀
Thanks, Dianne. 🙂
Water temps still must be good for activity.
I think the Indian Ocean is quite mild, even in winter. 🙂
Good picture! As for the canoe, I don’t mind some willing idiot paddling it for me, as long as I get to steer it! 🙂
Thanks, Col. 😀
I just see kayaks and paddle boards around here. The canoes are for the lakes, I guess. Great quote, Sylvia. 🙂
Thanks, Lynne. Glad you enjoyed. 🙂
Very nice, Sylvia–a perfect pairing of image and words!
Thanks so much, Naomi. 🙂
Beautiful photo! And a quote that I lay great store by, even when I get lectured on learning to delegate 🙂
Thanks, Madhu. Yes, I can well imagine that you are a person who likes to be in control of a situation. 🙂
lovely quote and photo!
Thanks, Aletta. 🙂
Good words.. and they are so matching the picture.
Thanks so much, YC. 🙂
I love it but my cano is lying in the loods because I have troubles with my back
Oh, that’s not good. Hope your back is soon better.
Love the quote, though these days it’s likely to be a kayak rather than a canoe. 😉
Haha Yes, I guess so. Are you still enjoying your kayaking? 🙂

Both are fabulous!
Thanks, Mary. 🙂 x
Wise quote , completely new for me!
Your photo is fantastic: the colour and the composition are perfect….
I wish I were there !
Thank you. I also love the colour of the water. 🙂
I never heard this quote either…..a very good one!
Thanks, Torrie. Glad you liked it. 🙂
oh the water is so blue! great capture, Sylvia! beautiful quote and picture! 🙂
Thanks so much, Lola. 🙂
Great quote!

Thanks, Nancy. I have been a little way out to sea in one, but as you say, always need to see the shore and the lifeguards. 🙂
I wish I were paddling in one of those canoes right now. 🙂
I wouldn’t mind being a passenger. 🙂
Amazing colors! I wish I am there now!
Thanks, Merlinda. There’s lots of fun to be had here on the water. 🙂
Couldn’t agree more Sylvia 🙂 Although like Gilly I’d not want to be out there like that either !
Thanks, Poppy. I’m with you and Gilly on dry land. 🙂
A perfect quote that I’ve never heard before. I envy people with the confidence to go on the water like that.

Whatever happened to autograph books 😀
I’d completely forgotten about them too. Every self-respecting kid used to have one. 🙂
