Thanks to Aletta of ‘nowathome‘, for tagging me to do the 3 days, 3 quotes challenge. As some of you may know by now, I really love lighthouses, especially the red and white one here in Umhlanga. My quote for today is the caption beneath the photo.

“Many people spend too much time trying to be the captain of someone else’s boat. Learn to be a lighthouse and the boats will find their way.” ~ Anon
The rules of the challenge are:
1) Thank the person who nominated you.
2) Post a quote each day for 3 days.
3) Each day nominate 3 new bloggers to take part.
My 3 nominees for today are:
Marylou of ‘natuurfreak’
Geralyn of ‘Where my feet are’
Jude of ‘Travel Words’
(No problem if you don’t have the time or inclination to accept this challenge.)
Great photo !
I love lighthouses as well, but I can’t remember seeing the one in Umhlanga ;-(
I’d rather be a lighthouse anyway since I don’t know how to swim. I’ll stay on land – thank you. 😉
Me too, RoSy. I’m also not a water baby. 🙂
I want to be the captain of my own boat :). I have noticed your love for lighthouses. May I look forward to this one being turned into a painting too? In three week’s time I will have a week holiday right next to the highest lighthouse on our side of the Adriatic. I will take photos for you 🙂
Thanks, Paula. I look forward to seeing your lighthouse photos. xx 🙂
Have you seen the Kommetjie lighthouse in the Western Cape? It’s a small one that not many people visit. Really nice place to go if you don’t want to be surrounded by others
No I haven’t been to Kommetjie, but I just looked at a photo on Google. It’s really cute. 🙂
love lighthouses – perfect quote
Thanks, Scott. 🙂
fantastic Sylvia!! I so love lighthouses too!
Thanks so much, Cybele. 🙂
That photo is stunning! It has such a vintage feel to it. So glad I found time to stop by and see it. Love the quote, too!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, Maddie. I’m happy that you like the lighthouse pic. 🙂
Fabulous photo and quote Sylvia. I can imagine how much you must miss that beautiful lighthouse.
Thanks, Madhu. Yes,I was sad to have to leave the lighthouse again, but I’m sure we’ll be back next year. 🙂
This has a lovely old postcard feel to it Sylvia ! I was looking for rolled up trousers and woven picnic baskets 🙂
Your favourite lighthouse is a fine inspiration for the quote found .
Thanks, Poppy. yes, I think you’re right about the postcard feel. It did turn out rather well. 🙂
It’s easy to understand why you love this lighthouse!
Thank you. 🙂
Good words and good picture! I think a boat still needs a captain to get to the light house too.
Very true. 🙂
Great quote and of course I love this full shot of the lighthouse, Sylvia.
Thanks so much, Lynne. 🙂
I love that quote, Sylvia! But even more, I LOVE the photo. Like yourself, I’m nuts about lighthouses. 🙂

Ahh yes your gorgeous lighthouse, I bet you smiled when you saw it again!
Yes I did, Gilly. I’ll be sorry to wave goodbye again.
This is a great quote and I’ve never heard it before. Very good and one I probably need to learn much better! Also, pic is crying out to be a painting……better get busy on that. 🙂
Thanks, Torrie. Hmm……..I’ll have to get back to my painting when we are back in Florida.
Love lighthouses.
Me too, Nancy. 🙂
Perfect quote to marry up with your photo. We love lighthouses as well.

A fine quote to go with a fine picture 🙂
Thanks so much, Sarah. 🙂
Thanks for the nomination, Sylvia. I’m going to give it a go! The quote’s a great one and so is the lighthouse. 🙂
So happy you like this, Geralyn. Thank you for accepting the nomination. I look forward to seeing your posts. 😉
This looks like a painting? One of yours perhaps? And I love that quote!
Thanks for the nomination Sylvia, I’m not all that good with quotations, but I may give it a go in a week or two, once I have my recent Cornish posts out of the way 🙂
Thanks, Jude. No, it’s a photo I took with my iPhone the other day, but I agree that it would make a very good painting. Look forward to seeing your posts when you find the time. 🙂
