This week’s photo challenge is to share an image that has two clear halves, literally or figuratively.
When visiting my mom in her care home, I went in search of her wheelchair, and in a small rough-bricked alcove, came upon this beautiful stained glass window. I was quite a surprised to see these gorgeous birds presiding over the wheelchairs and walkers parked there.
Wishing you all a really great week. π
How wonderful to have something so lovely in a care home.
Yes, it was such a lovely surprise. π
What a fabulous find in the most unlikeliest of places! Perfect for the challenge Sylvia.
Thanks, Madhu. It was such a surprise. π
What a beautiful window!
Thanks, Zirkie. π
Hallo very beautiful
Thanks, Marylou. π
I love your story, Sylvia, of finding this amongst the wheelchairs; and that you stopped to take a photo is great too. Beauty can be found in so many places, if we are open to it.
Thanks, Jet. Yes, you’re so right. π
A beautiful find indeed … and I hope your week is going well.
Thanks so much, Frank. Yes, quite well. π
Such a beautiful window Sylvia, you couldn’t get any better than this for the challenge, love it π xx
Thanks, Sherri. I thought it fitted the challenge very well. π xx
that is a gorgeous window. Hope your Mum is well
Thanks Ruth. Mom is doing fine. π
Wow, that’s one beautiful window! Where are the days of artisans and their guilds?
Thanks, Marco. I’m sure there are still some such artists around in South Africa.
painting on the stained glass effect…for sure…real stain glass artists…you could probably find one if you dig deep enough.
marvelous!! Beautiful halves!
Thanks so much, Cybele. π
A perfect half but what a pity the residents don’t gain the beauty of it.
Yes I agree with you, Irene. I think that even the people who work there don’t notice it. It’s not in a prominent position at all. π
Gorgeous windows!
Thanks, Trisha. Glad you enjoyed seeing them. π
What a great find for the challenge!
Thanks, Dawn. When I saw the challenge, I remembered taking the photo with my iPhone. π
Heel mooi Sylvia !
Hartelijk bedankt, DellaAnna. π
There ought at least to be someone sitting in those wheelchairs to spectate! Get them to make a note of that, Ad! π They’re glorious!
That would be nice, Jo. Sadly, most of the people there are well past admiring stained glass windows. π¦
Oh dear! Give me a good sharp kick, Ad π¦
No, I won’t do that. You made me smile. π
π
I love how each is a reflection of the other half and the birds seem so graceful as if they might leap up and fly away at any moment.
Yes, it is very beautiful. Thanks so much for your special comment. π
what a wonderful surprise, Sylvia! so lovely and perfect for half and half! π
Thanks so much, Lola. π
What a find. A bit wasted on the wheelchairs, though!
Thanks, Gallivanta. Ah yes, it does seem so, but for those like myself looking for a wheelchair, it was a serendipitous encounter. π
Afternoon Sylvia, what a great challenge and result!
It’s beautiful. Sending you many hugs across the ocean. Paula xxx
Thanks so much, Paula. Sending you hugs back. Hope all is good with you. π xxx
All is well, than you! x
What a stunning piece of art work!
Yes, it is, and very unexpected. π
It is indeed beautiufl and as you say don’t expect it where stuff is stored. It needs to be more in public really!
Thanks, Ute. I think the place used to be a private home before it was converted into a care facility. Maybe it was more visible then. π
Very nice, there is something almost peaceful in this pict. The warmth of the colors, the sun rays through the window. Almost meditative. Great one (again!)
Yes, I see exactly what you mean. Also a sort of timelessness about the image.
exactly!
That’s a wonderful window! And a great response to the challenge. I think the wheelchairs deserve such nice guardians π
Thanks, Helen. π
Lovely!
Thanks, LuAnn. π
Very nice pices of glass. Please have a good week too.
Thanks so much, YC. π
Oh wow, I love that!!
Me too. π
Lovely window and a great response. Maybe those birds are hoping all the residents will be able to use the walkers and wheel chairs to move around. π
Thanks so much, Judy. That’s a really nice thought. π
If there is one thing I absolutely love it’s stained glass windows, Sylvia. I have a friend who does this work and I want her to teach me so I can make some for the RUC (they wont be nearly as spectacular as this though!). π
Well, you never know what you are capable of until you try. π
Beautiful. A great week to you, too!
Thanks, Elisa. Good to see you. π xx
Gosh how unexpected and lovely!
Yes, it was, Gilly. π

Nice contrast!…
Thank you. A really good example of juxtposition. π
Sylvia I love the photo but more where you found it. Beauty lies waiting in the most unusual spots if we keep looking.
So very true, Sue. I love the way you think. π

Gorgeous and a nice reward for those that come to take a chair or walker!
