“I’m a dreamer. I have to dream and reach for the stars, and if I miss a star, I grab a handful of clouds.” ~ Mike Tyson
This week’s Sunday Stills Challenge is ‘Clouds in black and white’.
I took this first one through the car windscreen with my mobile phone on the drive back down to Florida from NJ. It looks quite dramatic in B&W, but I think I prefer the original colour version which I posted last year.
The second one was taken last week in Key West, looking out over the Gulf of Mexico from the deck at the Pier House Resort.

The second photo is particularly impressive.
Thanks so much. π
Wonderfully dramatic, love them in B&W π xx
Thanks so much. These are definitely my two favourites. π xx
I love clouds, but these clouds are so dramatic and showy! Bravo! π
Thanks, Lorna. π
Wonderful and dramatic sky photos, Sylvia. I espec. like the second one with the rain. π
Thanks so much, Jet. π
Clouds are such wonderful things, a little vain I think. They certainly seem to like to prance and preen for cameras.
Oh yes, there is nothing modest about clouds. π
This is impressive! What moment that you captured there π Great images!
Thanks so much, Indah. π
WOW! Both stunning, but the last one incredible.
Thanks so much, Ann Christine. π
Amazing shots, Sylvia!
Thanks, Helen.
Terrific texture of the sky π
Thanks, Ady. π
These are awesome. I love that ‘isolated shower’ in the second one. WOW! π
Thanks, Dianne. Yes, it looks quite surreal. π
Fantastic shots. They remind me of me doing the same thing driving to Fl. a few years ago. I did not have such dramatic clouds as these.
Thanks so much, YC. I guess I was very lucky with my clouds. π
The black and white shot is really dynamic, but I find the colour version quite scary!
I found it scary at the time, Gilly. I remember thinking that I must take photo just in case something catastrophic happened. π³
I always prefer the color versions. I wish I understood this desire to turn the world to black and white. Where’s the nuance?
Thanks, Gunta. Yes, I guess if it were meant to be monochrome, we wouldn’t have colour vision. π
These are amazing cloud photos. Wonderful!
Thanks so much, Cee.
I love the extension of rain to the ground in the second shot.
Thanks so much, Joseph.
Impressive images Sylvia! π
Thanks, Adrian. π
Amazing! Yes. I did a double take!
Thank you, Cocoa. I certainly did with the first one at the time. π
High drama in the skies!
Indeed. Thanks, Lisa. π
Stunning!!! Love it!
Thanks so much, Aletta. π
Wow Sylvia – talk about stunning formation! I do love B&W, there is a level of drama and elegance.
Thanks, Mary. Glad you enjoyed these. π
Both are great, Sylvia. Black and white makes them look more dramatic.
Thanks, Geralyn. π
Waou, so impressive! The B&W really gives a dramatic touch, incredible picts that make me want to stay indoor and hide under the blanket (with chocolate and enough green tea)
Hahaha. You’re so funny, Estelea. Thanks. π
Wow. What astounding captures!
Thanks, Torrie. π
Magnificent, really!
Thank you so much. π

Spectacular snaps, Sylvia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kEUS207MHQ
Thanks, Nancy. I had this song in my head as I was doing my post. π
Wow! These are amazing, Sylvia! It looks like rain coming out of the bottom cloud. Very cool!
Thanks, Jill. Maybe there was rain further out to sea. I find clouds so fascinating. π
The second one especially catches my eye, like a floating island :O
Yes, I agree with you, Andy. It’s like another world out there. π
Oh the things one can imagine π
Always. π
WOW! Breathtaking, Sylvia! π xx
Thanks, Marina. So glad you enjoyed seeing these. π
