It doesn’t seem like a whole week has passed since we were on our way home from a fabulous few days in Key West. Our son and his family were headed to Miami for the weekend, and we all stopped off for lunch at the beautiful resort town of Islamorada, which is about ninety minutes south of Miami.
The waterfront restaurant ‘Marker 88’ looked very popular and the food was excellent. Here’s my scrumptious and super fresh shrimp salad, which I never wanted to end.
We ate inside, because there were no shady tables left outside and it was really hot. Afterwards, the children had some fun with one of the swinging benches. In fact, Max got that bench swinging so hard that we had to rescue the salt and pepper pots. ( I guess this qualifies for Jude’s colourful bench challenge.)
If we’d had more time to spend, and it hadn’t been so stinging hot, we would have sat here for a little siesta after lunch.
Hubby and I are thinking that we should return here for a few days out of summer season. It’s not as vibrant as Key West, but looked far more relaxing and is only half the distance to drive.
Wishing you all a great weekend. Have lots of fun.
We love the Florida Keys! We cruised our boat here from Galveston, TX last month. 1250 miles. We are cruising all over the Keys and the sights are amazing!
Lovely colourful benches for Jude and that salad looks so delicious and healthy…
This places yielded some nice photos, for sure. π
another paradise! hope you had a wonderful time with family, Sylvia! great pictures and a shrimp salad to die for π π
Thanks so much, Lola. Yes it was a lovely few days. π
Beautiful photos. The first one is the best. π
Thank you so much. π
you could be an advertiser for that part of america, you really sell it’s lifestyle and its beauty!
Thanks so much. I do my best. π
First photo looks like paradise.
I agree. π
Best snorkeling in Florida, I had an encounter with a 6 ft Barracuda there, last time I wore a silver dive watch.. π
Wow That must have been an amazing experience! Our daughter caughta 6 ft Barracuda in Umhlanga when she was only 16. π Your watch sounds very fancy.
one word . . . DIVINE!
Mmmm….it was. π
What a stunning place, Sylvia. I’m hungry now I’ve seen that shrimp salad – YUM! That swinging bench is awesome, it would put me to sleep π
Yes it was really lovely, Dianne. I don’t think there’d be much chance of you falling asleep with Max swinging that bench. π
What a beautiful place, I can’t believe that it is so hot as the photos look cool.
Thanks, Linda. Yes, the pics do make it look cool, but it was well over 30 C. π
Great photos Sylvia, two chairs colours…very inspiring. Amazing seasight and… yumi… lekker!
Thanks, DellaAnna. So happy you enjoyed. π

Happy summer photos of a lovely afternoon. Thank you for taking us along x
You’re welcome, Marion. Glad you enjoyed. π
I agree with you there Sylvia. I wouldn’t want that delicious shrimp salad to end either. I love shrimp and any salad. Amazing shots of a wonderful time you had there. π
Thanks so much, Sonel. Glad you enjoyed my photos. It was a great place to spend some time. π xx
Beautiful views. Such clear waters. And that shrimp salad looks fresh from the ocean π
Thanks, Mabel. It was a little piece of paradise. π
Great post– I love the middle Keys. π
Thank you so much. Yes, we have to go back there soon. π
GReat photo’s! The last one is so inviting!
Thanks so much, Aletta. π
The view! The salad! The chairs! I would seriously never want to leave any of that. And the kids are totally too cute, too.
Thanks so much. Yes, it was the perfect combination. π
What a beautiful place to be… Ah, yes, you had a great time!!! Beautiful photos! Happy weekend, Sylvia! π xx
Thanks so much dear Marina. xx hugs
Love the tropical vibe in those shots. We want to visit Key West, but Islamadora (with its swinging benches and siesta chairs) is more our speed.
Thanks, Nancy. Maybe we’ll meet there one day. π
So lovely and easy feeling here.
Thanks, YC. It was a great place. π
Hi Sylvia. I couldn’t agree more about staying in Islamorada instead of Key West. It looks inviting to me, too. The lunch looks scrumptious and those adorable grand kids are growing up fast. Am glad you had an enjoyable time.:)
Thanks so much, Lynne. I would really like to spend a few days there. π
Relaxing and vibrant don’t quite fit together so it sounds like a great idea to return!
I agree, Gilly. Hubby and I will go back on our own. π
I think another visit in the cooler weather sounds like a great idea. I love the photo of the pier/jetty.
Thanks, Elaine. It was really beautiful there. π
Looks gorgeous, you will definitely have to go back when it’s cooler. That shrimp salad looks divine, no wonder you didn’t want it to end! So glad you had such a lovely time with your family Sylvia, and I hope have a lovely weekend ahead. It’s my daughter’s birthday on Sunday, so I’m looking forward to some family time myself π xx
Happy Birthday to your daughter.I’m sure you’ll all have a splendid celebration. xx π
Looks like paradise to me Sylvia. Perhaps not quite so much for the salt and pepper pots. π
Oh yes, I was dying to say something when he got too rough, but I had to zip my lip. π
Wow, I could die for that salad!
Me too right now. It certainly beats cream cheese and gherkin on toast. π
Looks like a nice time was had by all.
Yes, it was a lovely interlude, Dawn. π
I’ve gone all gooey eyed at the sight of that little pier and the bay! You can have my salad- I’m off for a paddle π (I only need to make it to the garden- it’s raining cats and dogs here π¦ )
Glad I brought you some sunshine, Jo. Hope it clears up for the weekend. xx π
That salad looks scrumptious! It’s always so nice to discover new places and make plans to return and this one looks like a keeper.
Yes, I agree with you. π

Now that’s a different way to eat lunch, though I’m not sure I’d want to be eating and swinging at the same time π Love the colourful Adirondack chairs too and I am not going to mention that delicious looking shrimp salad…
Have a good weekend Sylvia, how’s the new house coming on?
Quite a few restaurants with outside seating, have these swings. I’m also not convinced. π Hubby is hard at work as we speak, and will soon arrive home covered in sawdust. π
Time for a photo update π
Delicious food with brilliant view, that sounds perfect day to me! Great images π
Thanks, Indah. Yes, it was perfect. π
The salad looks very delicious! we have stopped there for dinner and the food is yummy.
Thanks, Mona Liza. I would definitely go back again. π
I thought your salad looked nice but the menu on their website came up oddly. Was that the alligator reef salad? Those shrimps look like prawns or scampi to me though! One of their key largo places makes an ‘attempt’ at a veg selection I was pleased to note π
Yes it was. I knew it had a funny sort of name. π No alligators were harmed in the making of it though. Prawns here, however big they are, are called shrimp. π We were originally going to stop at Bayside in Key Largo, but DiL had a change of plan when the kids got restless in the car. This place was really great though.
That swinging bench is huge! looks so cozy too and that salad, wow cravings π
Hehehe. Sorry, Andy. I ate every last morsel. π
Awwww!! π
π
Looks and sounds very relaxing and time with family is always special π
Thanks, Ingrid. It was as relaxing as a meal can be with three boisterous small children. π
The first photo fascinated me for the amazing view…
Then the second , for the super-inviting salade…
Etc etc etc…….
Just a fabulous post!
Thanks so much. I’m glad you enjoyed. π
Such beautiful photos- enjoy the weekend!
Thanks so much, Lisa. You too. π
I’ve been to Key West and Miami but am not familiar with Islamorada. Looks lovely. Those chairs would have beckoned me too!
Thanks, Geralyn. Islamorada looked like a very gentle and relatively uncommercialised place in comparison with Key West and Miami.
Ohh now I wanna go….lol, we have eaten lunch in Islamarada , I’d love to spend a few days there, we have friends, who go fishing there ever year. I agree a good place to go and unwind and still enjoy a few cocktails;). With out all the noise, and people;)))
Absolutely right, Kathy. It really looked like our kind of place. We’ll definitely be back there again. π
Looks a great place to linger, Sylvia! I love blogging, I’ve visited so many new places virtually!
Thanks, Sue. Yes, me too. I’ve seen so many places on the blogs, which I’m sure I’ll never get to visit. π
Lovely pictures.
Thanks, Cathy. π
Great pictures, Sylvia! I’m glad you had a nice visit with your beautiful family.
Thanks so much, Jill. Yes, we made some very happy memories together. π
