When we were over in England earlier this year, we visited Sherwood Forest, the legendary haunt of Robin Hood and his band of merry men. Besides seeing the Major Oak, purported to be the outlaw’s secret hiding place, I came upon this carved tree trunk, which I think is perfect for Nancy’s Photo a Week challenge ‘Wood’.

When we went there, we couldn’t find the forest. Thought it had been converted into a housing estate. Glad it still exists.
Hahaha. That’s sad that you went there and couldn’t find it. We also had a bit of difficulty, but persevered.
What have they filed it under?
Not sure, but you probably thought it had been stolen by outlaws. 🙂
Or tucked away by a friar.

I’d get a big fright if I saw this while taking my dogs for their afternoon walk on the farm – but not if I was in Sherwood Forest 😀

There is a little owl on the side near the bottom. There are also a couple of well cut rectangle wholes. I am wondering what does it mean and what the wholes are for.
