“Three little kittens” for Jude’s Bench series

I saw this bench in Costa Rica and couldn’t resist a photo. It reminds me of a nursery rhyme which I learned as a very young child.

Three little kittens, they lost their mittens,
And they began to cry,
“Oh, mother dear, we sadly fear,
That we have lost our mittens.”
“What!Β Β Β Lost your mittens, you naughty kittens!
Then you shall have no pie!”
“Meow, meow, meow.”
“Then you shall have no pie.”

I felt so sorry for those poor little kittens, and was always so relieved when we got to the second verse.
The three little kittens, they found their mittens,
And they began to cry,
“Oh, mother dear, see here, see here,
For we have found our mittens.”
“Put on your mittens, you silly kittens,
And you shall have some pie.”
“Purr, purr, purr,
Now we can have some pie.”
Do you have any photos of benches with someone or something on them, for Jude’sBench Series #42?

  1. Ha, this has got to be the funniest entry to Jude’s series this week! πŸ™‚ Love the kittens. And the chipmunk (?) and the bunny on the sill as well.

  2. I remember this nursery rhyme as well. Sylvia, but I always wondered why the word ‘pie’ was used and why they wore mittens. These were very bourgeois cats indeed πŸ˜‰

  3. As a past preschool teacher, I love the happy endings in some nursery rhymes, rare as this happens. Your 3 cats β™‘β™‘β™‘ on the bench are as diverse as siblings are. Adorable bench post, Sylvia!!! Have a happy week!

  4. You find the cutest benches Sylvia, I just love this, kitty lover that I am especially πŸ™‚ And thank you for reminding me of this delightful nursery rhyme, I used to be sad thinking that the kittens would have no pie, and then so happy when everything worked out in the end πŸ™‚ xx
