Jude’s October bench series is almost over, so I’m going to show you a whole lot of benches with things on, to be found at the amazing Ammazulu African Palace Hotel where we stayed for a few days in September.
Every bench was different, both the carving and the cushions.
This place was truly a bench addict’s dream.
I went around the place, avidly snapping up benches for all I was worth. Had to take this one from the other side of the gallery.
What an absolute bench bonanza!
I wonder where the owner and designer of this palatial hotel, found so many beautiful benches.
I think this one looks even better from above, flanked by the two of the forty exquisite, beaded and mosaiced pillars, which dominated this stunning creation.
Out on our balcony which overlooked the picturesque Kloof Gorge, there were three more benches.
Are you benched out yet, Jude?
I’m sure there were even more benches there to which I didn’t have access. Maybe next time.
You have only one more day to post your benches for Jude, which are occupied by something or someone.
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww quanti divani! deve piacere stare molto comodi alla gente che vi abita! naturalmente i colori sono stupendi e originalissimi gli arredi!
Wow! Love these Sylvia, so rich in colour! 🙂 xx
Thanks, Sherri. 🙂 xx
This was a fascinating post with unique and ornate benches. Lovely of you to share with all of us! 🙂
Thanks so much, Robin. It was such a privilege to stay there and see all the wondrous benches, as well as the artwork in this amazing place.
amazing collection of benches, Sylvia! and the place so lovely and colorful! 🙂
Thanks, Lola. We were so fortunate to be able to stay there. 🙂
What an amazing collection. Perhaps a little hard on the posterior, though.
Thank you. Yes, I imagine they wouldn’t be comfortable for very long. 🙂
These are truly beautiful! Fit for any palace!
Thanks, Helen. 🙂
What a lot of benches they have there
Yes, there’s no shortage. 😃
Hey S – these are some awesome benches and the art and colors were fun – my favorite shot was seeing the down view of the bench that you took from above – added to the variety – have a nice day xoxo
Thanks so much, Yvette. There was so much to photograph there, it was hard to put the camera down and just enjoy being there. 😃
I know exactly what u mean- but glad u did not put the camera down right away – the colorful pillows and nice woodwork reminded me of a place in Golden Colorado called Table Mountain Inn –
What a great collection Sylvia ! They suit the surroundings well . The balcony benches would be my favourite .. possibly because of that view you describe 🙂
Thanks, Poppy. It’s the most amazing place. 🙂
Wow, the benches are stunning!
Thanks, Zirkie. 🙂
What a beautiful collection! Such workmanship. And the colors in most were so perfect for the season. And I love the pillars too. Magical.
Thanks, Lisa. Glad you enjoyed seeing these. 🙂
If you played baseball, you probably wouldn’t mind getting benched! You went bench crazy in that wonderful place. My husband loved pictures of benches. He collected bench pictures before we got married. The only problem is that we don’t have enough wall space to display all of them. 🙂 Love yours!
I don’t think I’m about to take up baseball at this stage in my career, Marsha. 🙂 How interesting that your hubby has a bench fetish. I’m sure you weren’t jealous though. 😀
It looks gorgeous! … especially the photo looking down on the bench with the 2 pillars. No – I meant the hallway in the 2nd photo with all the art work on the walls. …. what am I saying? It’s just such a beautiful place 🙂
Thanks, Joanne. I think you would really love to visit this place. 🙂
That place is a bench haven indeed. Are they comfortable?
I only sat on the ones on the balcony, and they were okay for a while. 🙂
What an amazing place.
Thanks, Debra. Yes it certainly is. 🙂
The second one is my favourite, although I think they would all need a few more cushions for me to sit very long!
Yes, I think those wooden benches would start to feel quite uncomfortable in a very short while, unless one had lots of inbuilt padding, which I don’t think either of us has. 🙂
What an amazing place… and great shots too!
Thanks, Roslyn. Glad you enjoyed. 🙂
Gosh, I don’t know which one to pick, they’re all wonderful and excellent craftsmanship!
Have a great Halloween!
Dina & Co
Thanks so much. Hope your Halloween is a scary one. 🙂
Aha I like these!
Glad you do. 🙂
You’re bound to win ‘bench post of the week’ with these, Ad! They’re gorgeous 🙂 Not so keen on the zany walls but I could face away from them. All those lovely cushions too! I feel a snooze coming on. Happy weekend! 🙂
Thanks so much, Jo. Happy weekend to you too. 🙂
Impressive, love them all… 😀
Thanks so much, Drake. 🙂
Cool place and benches. Love the vibrant colors in the first shot.
Thanks, Nancy. 🙂
oh wow all so cozy too 🙂
Thanks, Andy. Yes, very cozy to curl up on. 🙂
Indeed 🙂
wow, these photos make me want to see more of this villa:) just lovely Sylvia
and id love to have even one of those benches:)
Thanks, Kathy. This place would just blow your mind. The benches are the tame bits. 🙂
Lol I had a feeling Sylvia. And they were awesome
Wow, what a beautiful hotel. :). Lovely photos Sylvia.
Thanks so much, Lisa. 🙂
Amazing benches and photos!
Thank you. 🙂
You must have been in heaven, Sylvia. What an amazing place!
I would have loved to stay there for much longer than three days. Maybe next time we’re over there. 🙂
Every bench is so fancy! Did you sit and relax on any of them, Sylvia? The walls and pillars are works of art, too.
Thanks, Geralyn. We sat out on our balcony, which was spacious and with a gorgeous view. I think the ones dotted around everywhere, were more for show than for relaxation. 🙂
Aren’t they beautiful? Such workmanship, I wonder where they came from? The entire place looks so photogenic, I bet you didn’t know where to look. Thanks for all these lovely sofa benches – I quite fancy the one you had to take from the other side 🙂
Thanks, Jude. Some of them I couldn’t take nicely, without hanging from a chandelier. I knew you wouldn’t want me to put my life at risk for the sake of a few bench photos. 🙂
Oh, I don’t know, it would be amusing to see you swinging from a chandelier – I’m sure your hubby would disown you though so best not.
😆 He would never disown me, although I might have given him a few reasons to in the past.
😀
Sylvia I can’t imagine how long it would have taken to create all these amazing benches not to mention the pillars!
I read that the place took forty years to put together, and I can quite believe it.
I can certainly believe it Sylvia!
