“As you press on for justice, be sure to move with dignity and discipline, using only the weapon of love. Let no man pull you so low as to hate him. Always avoid violence. If you succumb to the temptation of using violence in your struggle, unborn generations will be the recipients of a long and desolate night of bitterness, and your chief legacy to the future will be an endless reign of meaningless chaos.” ~Martin Luther King Jr.

Devastating. Praying for all… xxx
This is all we can do, Sherri. xx
Lovely quote by MLK, Jr. and the pretty photo of Paris was great. We hope and pray for change, hold onto our Hope for Peace. Healing for this new sad state of affairs. I am glad they caught the guilty parties and may justice be swift.
Thanks so much, Robin. We are all hoping for peace in this beautiful world of ours, but it does seem to be quite elusive. xx
It’s hard not to despair.
Yes it is, but we can’t lose hope.
Thank you very much for this post, Sylvia.
Thank you for reading, Isabel.
Thank you for posting, Sylvia. ❤
I had to post something to show my support for the people of Paris.
don’t have the right words, Sylvia. thank you for posting. i am praying for peace and healing.
Thanks, Lola. Yes, we hope that peace will prevail and that the people who’ve lost loved ones will be comforted.
The most distressing thing of all is the substantial number of people who regard that terrorism as acts of heroism and merit.
Absolutely, Col.
still not quite able to absorb what happened in Paris. truly a tragedy
Yes, I know what you mean. It’s totally surreal and evil.
I have no words. Praying for all the victims and their loved ones.
Yes, me too.
Amen!
Thanks, Cybele.
The existence of this evil needs to be wiped off the face of this Earth. Beautiful quote and quiet tribute to the people of Paris.
Thank you Mary. I so agree. It’s unconscionable that any group that should feel it’s their right to perform such atrocities.
I love this quote, absolutely true.
Thanks so much, Aian.
A poignant and timely post Sylvia, it is a sad time and frightening to think what a few crazy people can do.
Thanks, Pauline. Yes, a very sad time indeed.
A wonderful quote in this ever so tragic situation.
Thanks, Sue.
This is just heartbreaking.
Absolutely.
While I love (and wish I had known) Mr. King, man’s love will not defeat this evil (unless God directly intervenes it to do so)…to believe that it will, well…will eventually make us the ones being killed by this evil. If you have never fought,or even seen these people in person with your own eyes (the radicals, terrorists),you may think that you know, but you really have no idea, you cannot.
I have both fought these people up close and personal (US Army,1991-1995,Airborne Infantryman, served in combat),and have, during my own (extensive) research (of them),read their koran…one cannot coexist with a group whose core beliefs tell them to “kill us (non-muslim) where they find us”.
I do not hate them, but they (ISIS,and other terrorist groups) need bombed off the planet, and pairs of angry boots need be on the ground to deal with any stragglers (BTW,this old Veteran’s boots are pretty angry and wishing to be allowed to rejoin the fight, though still not hate filled towards anyone). You cannot reason with,or appease these people (if you have not spent time up close and personal, you do not know…again, speaking of the radicals/terrorists,not those who live a life of peace),they do not want you to coexist…they want to convert you,or kill you, there is no grey area.
All of that said…I do not hate them,I pray for them,as I pray for everyone affected by this horrible thing,my heart aches, and it breaks for the innocents lost 😥
Thanks so much for your comment, Steve. I understand that you are coming from a place of greater knowledge of what we’re all up against. I’m sure you’re quite correct about there being ‘no grey area’, and that really tough measures are needed to deal with these terrorists. I pray that an answer will be found to eliminate these groups once and for all, so that decent people can live without fear .
I also pray that it can be…not as violent as I fear it will need be. Not everyone who has used violence when called upon is a violent person (me 😉 ).
Wishing you and yours a great weekend,my good friend 🙂
This must stop! No one should be afraid to go out and live their life. Praying for all of the victim’s families and for the people of Paris.
Oh yes you’re so right, Jill. We all have a right to live our lives in peace. I’m so heartbroken for those who have been harmed by these senseless and brutal acts of terrorism.
I’m not sure why the slaughter of innocent people comes into any belief or idea, Sylvia. I have no idea when or how this will stop and I’m sick to my stomach at this tragedy. Unfortunately this is their abhorrent goal – to cause chaos and terror…
Oh, I so agree with you. It beggars belief that anyone can even come up with such evil ideas.
I loved Luther King, Ad. If only there were more like him.
We’re in agreement there, Jo.
Hope love will win. Thinking all day long at the innocent victimes
Oh yes, me too, Marylou. I feel so sick inside.
Our world is becoming smaller and darker every day, when will this end?
Who knows, Gilly? We must just soldier on and live in hope that good will prevail.
This all defies rational comprehension but then it’s not rational. Wonderful quote.
How right you are. Such evil is just incomprehensible.
Few moments touch your soul so deeply as these moments of madness and loss.
Very true, Charlie.
merci! thanx, Sylvia! ❤
Sending hugs and love, Mélanie. x
Beautiful words, Sylvia. I wish we could all live by them.
The world would be a paradise.
No words to comment…..
I agree.
Much needed clarity in Martin Luther King’s profound words on this depressing day. Thank you Sylvia.
Thank you, Madhu.
We are living in a dark time. It’s frightening to think how this could all end.
Yes it is….very frightening.
…
There’s a numbness that prevents any coherent thought. The horror is beyond understanding.
So true, Joanne.
Such a sad sad day Sylvia. Nothing left to say. Praying for an end to all this madness
Absolutely. Kathy.
