On Friday evening we went to see the Holiday Boat Parade along the Intracoastal Waterway. As you can imagine, it was very popular, but we managed to secure a spot right next to the the draw bridge. No-one was allowed actually on the bridge, because it was going to be opened to let the really tall boats through, which could have been a bit tricky if you were standing on it at the time.
Happy Sunday everyone. It’s warm and sunny here in Florida, and I’m in my shorts, T-shirt and flip flops.
Yes, it’s a beautiful sunny day here in Florida, but I must soon get out my warm winter clothes, as we leave on Sunday, for Christmas in England, where it will be a very different story. 🙂 *hugs* to you my friend. May you have a delightful festive season. xx
wonderful image of the boats- I love that greenish tinge to the clouds.
Lovely long exposure! Sylvia, could you send me a link to one of your old posts – the one featuring your painting of your beloved lighthouse?
Thanks so much, Paula. I’ll see if I can find it. 🙂
Beautiful sight! It’s unseasonably mild here in the UK Sylvia, the daffodils have been out in Somerset since early December but for us, that’s just all wrong… I do hope for those crisp, frosty winter days, I admit… 🙂 xx
Thanks, Sherri, I hope the weather carries on being mild for when we arrive on Monday morning, but I have my warm furry hooded coat just in case. 🙂 xx
How lovely to think you’ll be here for Christmas! Yes, bring your coat incase, you never know with this great British weather as you well remember 🙂 xx
I wouldn’t dream of coming to an English winter without warm weatherproof clothing, and boots too. 🙂 xx
Haha…absolutely!! I always used to have to remind myself of that after living in shorts, tee shirts and flip flops for most of the year 🙂 xx
Seattle is on Puget Sound and backs up against Lake Washington that connects the two bodies of water by a waterway so Christmas is celebrated with boats, lights, and festivities on the water; it is similar and also very special.
Yes, I’ve been to Seattle, and can imagine how pretty it all looks. 😃
Beautiful …. and warm too no doubt LOL #MySundayPhoto
Thanks, Rosie. Yes it’s very warm here. 😃
Nice pictures, Sylvia! Floridians know how to do the holiday boat parade. I’m still waiting for one here on intra-coastal.
Thanks, Helen. It’s the first time we’ve been and it was a fun evening with friends. 😃
This takes me back, we spent our first Christmas together in Florida, that was 23 years ago!
I’m happy that my photo brought back good memories. 😃
is was unseasonably warm in my part of the world, Sylvia. yesterday was in the 60sF but rained all day! love the all-lit palm tree 🙂
Thanks so much, Lola. The lit-up palm trees are at the entrance to where our new house is. It looks purple here, but the lights are actually blue and red for Chanukah and Christmas.
how lovely! 🙂
The photo is nice with those clouds and lights. However, flip flops in winter? I am not sure about that. I now would rather it is freezing in winter unlike when I first moved from hot Zambia. I can’t believe that it is still me loving winter 😉
My body doesn’t like the cold any more. Going to England next week, so I guess I’ll have to wrap up warm. 🙂
Wunderschön wünsche eine gute neue Woche lieber Gruß und Umarmung Gislinde
Thanks so much, Gislinde. Hugs to you too. 🙂
Don’t you just love winter in Florida? All nice and warm 🙂
Oh yes, it’s the best. 🙂
Sylvia it could have been quite the adventure story had you stayed on .:)
I leave that sort of daring escapade to you, Sue. 😆
Now we just need to come up with a name for it. Bridge clinging?
More like drawbridge dangling. 😯
That has a nice ring to it. 🙂
I knew you’d like it. Next adventure coming up? 😉
Marvelous
Thanks, Lisa. 🙂
Beautiful photo, Sylvia. We’ve been tropically toasty this weekend. I love it! ❤
Thanks so much, Jill. I’m happy that you’ve had a warm weekend too. 🙂
It’s warm here in the tropics too, Sylvia and I’m also wearing my my shorts, T-shirt and flip flops 😉 I love the reflection of the lights on the clouds in your photo – beautiful 😀
Thanks Dianne. We’re so fortunate to have gorgeous winters here. My photo was taken with my iPhone and I was pleased it turned out okay. 😃
So jealous! We have frost here, but your pictures cheered me up.
Thanks, Anabel. You have my sympathy. 🙂
Fabulous capture!! While I really can’t complain about our weather ( no snow) it’s been very warm here .. For dec.
I look forward to my upcoming vaca in sunny fl ;)!!!
I’m sure you are. It’s terribly windy at the moment.
Yes I see there’s s beach hazard up in Clearwater , but it’s 81. Where it’s gray and 45 here
It’s a no-brainer then. 🙂
I like the sound of your version of warm … even while I enjoy our version at 8C /46F 😉
Haha. Well, some people have to put up with warm winter weather. 🙂
Wonderful nighttime shots, Sylvia, in this picturesque and warm corner of Florida. Toasty! 🙂
Thanks, Jet. Yes, it’s certainly very toasty, if a trifle windy. 🙂
Haha. shorts and flip flops. I wore a down coat, sweatshirt and t-shirt underneath, along with warm pants, wool socks and shoes. And I live in sunny CA. What’s up with that??? Your pictures are lovely. Thanks for sharing.
I ordered a down parka online, but when it came, I decided it was more suited to the North Pole, so I got a less downy one from Macy’s, and hope it does the job with a few layers underneath. I always imagine that you never have cool weather in CA. It’s always been hot and sunny when I’ve visited there.
It would be if you came February through October. 🙂 My down coat is very light weight. If feels like a comfy sweater.
Mine was from Cole Haan and I looked like the Michelin Man. 🙄
I see others have commented how they can go off people 😀 All I will say is that I hope you have some thermals for when you get here, even though it is pretty mild still (for us) I suspect it will feel a bit nippy for you! Make the most of that sunshine 🙂
Our daughter has just arrived in England and says it’s dreary, cold and raining. 😦 I have my parka ready to pack. 🙂
Is the whole family going to be in England this year?
Chris’s family all live there, and our daughter and her family from South Africa have just arrived in England. Our son in NJ isn’t joining us. We’ll probably go there next Christmas.
Oh, it is so hard to get the whole family together nowadays. We can’t even manage it with everyone in England! Main issue is no-one has a large enough house to accommodate or feed us all and to rent something at this time of year is so expensive!
There are sixteen of use going out for Christmas lunch at the pub restaurant across the road. Should be fun and no washing up. 🙂
Yes, we usually do that with as many of the family we can get together, but not on Christmas Day. No matter, it is always a fun meal, though heavy on OH’s wallet as he always pays 😀
MiL has deep pockets. 😃
Not short arms I hope… heehee
Definitely not. 😄
This is one of my favorite events down here in south Florida.
It’s the first time we’ve been. It was lovely to watch. 🙂
I have been in the parade, it was such fun, a magical event! I live in Miami.
It must have been so wonderful to be on one of those boats. 🙂
It was so exciting! Thank you for the great pics.
Palm trees and capris
A warm winter’s breeze
Parkas packed away!
Yes, but my parka is coming out to play next week when we leave for England.
Happy Sunday, Sylvia! Great picture. Here we have 39 F…
Yikes, that sounds dire.. 😳
I love the glow of the lights, it’s certainly not that warm here
Thank you for linking up
Thanks so much, Darren. 🙂
Looks lovely there. It’s unseasonably warm where I am in the UK’s SE, but not warm enough for shorts. I wore a short-sleeved shirt this morning under my coat. Normally in polo necked jumpers by now. The weather doom-and-gloom brigade are predicting a sudden plunge in temperatures bringing ice and snow. What I need to install in my garden is a lit-up purple palm tree. Just the thing to cheer my view and surprise my relatively conservative neighbours!
Yes, it’s really warm here, and Mr. A is basking in the sun on the neighbour’s lawn the other side of the lake. 🙂
Ah it is so like our Island here in beautiful sunny Florida-I love to illuminate our home and especially the base of our Palm Trees it is just spectacular! I am wearing shorts and flip flops also! LOL
Hahaha. We’re so lucky, and I can see Mr. A basking in the sun just across the water. 🙂
Yes, absolutely correct!
You can go off people you know! To be honest it isn’t much like winter here yet, but I would like to see the sun 🙂
Aw, please don’t go off me, Gilly. I’m just stocking up on the warmth here, before braving the winter chills in England over Christmas. I’m sure my blood is as thin as a pin. 😯
Well the BBC forecast up to the 22nd is 10-12 degrees!
Forget my first comment. Erm. . .needed my caffeine to wake my brain up!! 🙂 I remember you are meeting your daughter later this month, but thank goodness, I can use the “age card.” Ha ha!
No problem, Robin. We all have ‘senior moments’ now and again. You had me worried for a second. I wondered whether I’d actually been to England and back without noticing. 😀
You are back in Florida? I am slow and missed your return from England. Silly me thought you were using both to show photos! 🙂
We could’ve worn shorts and t-shirts here in NYC this past couple of days! Very scary weather.
Yes, that’s what our son told us yesterday. I’m sure it won’t last for long though, so make the most of it. 🙂
Warm and sunny? Shorts and flip flops? Not a good way to treat friends. 😦
But did like the pic. 🙂
Hehehe I’m not at all nice to know, am I? Wait till I get to England. I’m sure it will be a different story. Boots and Parka will be in order. 🙂
I guess it’s all in the timing.
Just a bit, tricky, that is. lol
Hehehe. I hate to think just how tricky. 😯
