Thursday’s Special Backlit: Almost Chihuly

Paula’s Thursday Special this week is to post a photo with a ‘Backlit’ subject. Here’s one of the many chandeliers at the Ammazulu Palace Hotel in Kloof South Africa, where we stayed in September. It really reminded me of Dale Chihuly’s wondrous glass sculptures, although it most probably isn’t.

Thank you all for your kind anniversary wishes yesterday. Hubby and I had a most enjoyable day and evening. Wishing you all a very happy weekend. I will be packing my cases for our Christmas trip to England. I think it’s going to be fun, once the Miami airport experience and the night flight is behind us.

  1. Sylvia, I absolutely love Chihuly, and would love to own a piece of his work. But expensive and fragile glassware doesn’t really fit into a traveler’s lifestyle, so I’ll just have to keep admiring it in photos. When we lived in London, we spent 3 Christmas holidays there. It’s a wonderful, quiet time. Have a great holiday and trip to England. ~James

  2. Happy to hear this reminded you of Dale Chihuly’s glass sculptures. He does like to place a light source to reflect the beauty in the colors. This was really lovely, Sylvia. Hope you sleep through the travel or find something engrossing on film or reading:) You will be so happy to see your daughter, worth the long trip.โ™กโ™ก xo

      • There is nothing better, in my mind, then family gathering to celebrate the holidays, whatever one’s family chooses. Yes, I saw lots of excitement in your words and send you big hugs, laughter and special (making new and remembering old) memories to continue threading your lives together. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Guess what, Sylvia? I was worried I had missed more posts than I really did. Hope you had a fun-filled time while traveling. . . Here it is now Happy New Year time! ๐Ÿ™‚
