I saw our similar double-crested cormorants yesterday sitting on pilings at a local marina, they were drying their feathers just like this. From a distance they looked like Batman logos on top of each one, lol.
Thanks Gilly. I’ll pass on the compliment. She seems to favour this spot at the moment. I don’t mind having her on our side of the water. Mr. A can stay the other side, which is where he is at the moment. π
Thanks, Indira. She’s drying her wings in the sun. I don’t know for sure that she’s a ‘miss’, but I like to imagine that such a graceful and elegant bird must be female. π
Superb photograph Sylvia! π
Thanks so much, Adrian. π
Just beautiful…!
Have a great day!
Arcane owl
Perfect Sunday shot Sylvia… π xx
Thanks so much, Sherri. π xx

Thanks, Cybele. π
This immediately came to mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNhvqPPDyI0
Hahaha. Loved it, Frank. Lucille Ball was such a hoot. π
I knew you would love this one. π
They broke the mold after they made Lucille. Never another like her. π
Oh yes … quite the overall talent.
What a poser but so beautiful, if you’ve got it flaunt it…
Absolutely, Pauline. π
Lovely photo, I just love the detail on his wings.
Thanks so much, Gerrie. Yes, so beautiful. π

They are so amazing, aren’t they?
Yes they most certainly are, Charlie.
This is an absolutely stunning photo, Sylvia π
Thanks so much, Dianne. It was an easy shot. π
how big is she? She looks enourmous. quite magnificent though
I would say that she’s about a metre tall, and the wingspan is just over a metre.
wow, that is pretty big
Yes, but not as big as the Great Egret or the Great Blue Heron………and then there’s always the alligator. π (We have two of them now!)
Love how birds do that. I wonder if they get tired sitting like that.
Well, I know I couldn’t sit with my arms outstretched for so long. π
Gorgeous and when is he dry …tima to take off again.
Thanks, Marylou. It’s all part of his day. π
I adore these birds, cormorants. I know they are hated by fishermen everywhere, but still. I think they are enigmatic. Great shot!
Thanks so much. Anhingas and Cormorants are closely related, but there are some differences between the two.
Oh wow I can already hear “I am ready for my close up” lol!
Hehehe Yes, you’re right there, Andy. π
A cracking Pose that you caught so well
Thanks, Scott. π
Amazing capture, love the details
Thank you for linking up
My pleasure, Darren. Thanks for the visit. π
After seeing the tornado damage in Sarasota and Manatee Counties, I’m happy to still have a roof over my head.
Crazy weather this winter!
Yes, some people had it very rough. Glad you’re okay though. π
Love to watch these birds. Great shot, Sylvia.
Thanks so much, Jane. π
I’m in my big floppy robe and if I stretch I am sure I resemble some kind of bird. π
Haha. I can just imagine. Hope you’ve taken out your hair curlers though. π
Curlers out and hair net on.
You think I think you’re joking, don’t you?
I don’t think you think I think you’re joking. Your thinking is just as clear as my thinking. π
Hehehe You win. π
Awwww, you know she feels good in those rays! π Love your capture, Sylvia! π
Thanks, Donna. She did look extremely content, turning her head this way and that to dry her neck feathers. I loved watching her. π

Thanks, so much, Mary. π
What an absolute beauty!
Yes, she’s so lovely. π
The Anhingas are so beautiful when they spread their wings! What a great shot, Sylvia!
Yes they are. Thanks, Helen.
She is beautiful! For some reason I thought the anhingas were in South Africa, perhaps because you haven’t posted any photos for a while?
Thanks Gilly. I’ll pass on the compliment. She seems to favour this spot at the moment. I don’t mind having her on our side of the water. Mr. A can stay the other side, which is where he is at the moment. π
May we feel the same freedom and joy!
Oh yes, Rebecca. π
Gorgeous beautyππ
Yes she certainly is. Thanks, Stacey. π
Perfect captured… π
Thanks, Drake. π
She’s gotten a nice tan, too. What a beauty! π Happy Sunday.
Yes she certainly has. Happy Sunday to you too, Marsha. π
Beautiful. Is she dancing. How do you know it is miss? Is there any difference like cock and hen? Just curious dear.
Thanks, Indira. She’s drying her wings in the sun. I don’t know for sure that she’s a ‘miss’, but I like to imagine that such a graceful and elegant bird must be female. π
Just gorgeous S- x
Thanks, Cheryl. π
