My sister’s painting of the Umhlanga lighthouse, which she did for my birthday a few of years ago, has survived the trip over from South Africa, and it’s so nice to see it again. I have such great memories of living there, right next to the beach.
Hope you’re all having a great Sunday. Mine can be summed up in two words, “Packing Boxes.” We’re going to the Super Bowl dinner at the club tonight, so that will be a most enjoyable end to the busy day.
Wow! Talent runs in the fam!
It’s a lovely painting. I hope the packing goes well!
Thanks, Otto. 🙂
🙂 I hope you offered her your lighthouse painting for HER birthday? You guys are so talented 🙂
My lighthouse painting was my very first, so I’m definitely keeping it. 🙂 xx
Ah, smart choice 🙂
Your sister is very talented.
Thank you. Yes, I’m so proud of her. 🙂
that is just brilliant. how very talented she is.
Thanks, Sherry. 🙂
Your sister and you have multiple talents. I like the idea of lighthouses and beach scenes in homes. I have a beach scene painted by my brother and a lighthouse by my Dad! 🙂
Thanks so much, Robin. Yes, lighthouse and beach scenes are also a great favourite of mine too. 🙂
lovely work of art!
Thanks, Cybele. 🙂
Beautiful. 🙂 I can imagine how it lights up your life.
Thank you. Yes, I’ll be so happy when I eventually have a wall to hang it on. 🙂
You can always get me with a Lighthouse! Nice image.
Yes, they are a firm favourite with me too.
What a beautiful painting, so many lovely shades of blue in the ocean. How many days before you move?
Ten days until the removals van arrives at this house. Three days until the truck arrives at the new house to uplift all our stuff still wrapped from South Africa and take it to storage, and 5 days until our son, wife and three grandchildren arrive from NJ to stay with us for 4 nights, leaving only the day before we move. 😳
Oh my that is a tight schedule. You may have to put the computer onto the back burner.. Hope it all runs to plan.
Thanks Pauline, me too. I should actually just pack my computer and iPhone, and seal the box. 😀
We would miss you and your daily updates Sylvia if you did that…
Well that’s very nice to know, Pauline. 🙂
Cheers to the safe delivery and to again seeing your sister’s outstanding work. …. but oh the pains of moving.
Thanks so much, Frank. Moving is quite a headache. 😕
I love the vibrant colours!
Thanks so much, Aletta. 🙂
Absolutely beautiful this painting Sylvia. Glad you had a reprieve from the packing, hope your team won 🙂 xx
Thanks, Sherri. No my team didn’t win, but I only chose them because i didn’t like the colour of the other team’s shirts, so I wasn’t devastated. What I know about American football you could write on a postage stamp and still have room to spare. 🙂 xx
Ha! Me too Sylvia. I never could understand the game…I’ll be writing a little about that in my next post 😉
Great composition
Thanks, Derrick. 🙂
That painting is pawsome, Sylvia. Your sister is very talented 🙂 Pawkisses for a Happy Monday 🙂 ❤
Thanks so much, dear Binky. You too. 🙂 xx
Your sister is a very talented artist, Sylvia. Put down those boxes and go out and have fun! 😀

Such a beautiful painting! Happy packing and enjoy the Super Bowl break. 🙂
Thanks Sue. It was a nice evening. Didn’t stay to the end though. Half time was quite long enough. 😃
Quite the performance! I wonder how much that cost? Wow!
I dread to think how much it cost. It was quite a circus. 🙂
It is a wonderful painting, I can see why it is a personal treasure.
Thanks so much, Charlie.
Love the bright colors and the cheerful scene!
Thanks so much, Cindy.
What a lovely, special gift that was. So very glad that all went well with its long travels.
Thanks, Gunta. It’s very special indeed .
Oh what wonderful memories your paintings brought back to me…….isn’t Umhlanga a beautiful place?
When we were there the sun shone every day…and we had lunch upstairs at The Oyster Box on the last day…lovely
Yes it is a wonderful place. We lived there for about 15 years, and I really miss that lighthouse. The Oyster Box was a favourite haunt of ours. 🙂
beautiful.
Thanks, Lisa. 🙂
Such a beautiful painting and view! I bet you miss it but then you wouldn’t have all the birds and all fun stuff in Florida. 😀
Thanks, Nicole. This is very true. Every place has its benefits, and we were lucky to have lived in Umhlanga for so many years. 🙂
😀
Gorgeous. Pride of place in the new house. Happy packing Sylvia 🙂
Thanks, Jude. Yes, I must get a nice frame for it. I also have a couple of other paintings of my sister’s. 🙂
She is extremely talented. I love some of her portraits. But you are not so bad yourself, I expect you have some of your own to hang too. Talent obviously runs in the family. Any more artists among you?
Yes, I’ve got my three up too. I’m not painting at the moment with all the upheaval, but when we’re properly settled into the new place, I’ll probably have another dabble. 🙂
Yes, you should paint more birds. You have a steady supply of posers 😀
Amazing painting!
Thank you. I love it. 🙂
Love this painting…enjoy your dinner!
Such a beautiful painting full of memories for you. Find it a nice place in your home.
Thanks, Marylou. I definitely will. 🙂
