In February, Jude is looking for Monochrome images which should be loosely garden related.
Here are the palm trees in my back yard. When converted to monochrome, they take on a quite different look.
Whilst on the subject of palms, how do you like my Valentine’s present from hubby?
To make it “loosely garden related”, I photographed it with a bit of my Christmas Cactus showing, a flower on my scatter cushion and a gorgeous metal butterfly ornament. I’ve always wanted a crystal ball, and he found this one on eBay and bought it as a surprise. Now, if someone annoys me, I can really ‘tell them their fortune’.Β If you cross my palm with silver, I’ll even tell you yours. π
Wishing you all a very good week. It’s back to the packing for me.
Your second photo is a prize winner! But I’m sure the crystal ball already told you that π
Very cool gift, and love that you have palm trees right in your backyard!
Thanks, Ruth. Yes, I also love my palm trees and have more at our new house. π
Pretty and thoughtful gift for Valentine’s. Enjoy the day:-)
You too. π
The butterfly is just extraordinary, I love that the image includes a crystal ball.
Thanks so much Charlie. I bought the butterfly for our granddaughters’ bedroom.
Have fun packing! Whew π
Hardly fun, but I’ll try. π xx
Sorry if that came out wrong – and wish I could come over and help even if just to wrap – but when I read my Comment it was not the best – so thx for grace – π but I guess you write so light and rather joyful I might actually picture you doing this with so much joy – pack some- check on the bird crew- pack – take a photo of new baby alligator – pack some more – ha!
Hahaha, You know me so well, Yvette. That’s exactly how I operate. Just came in from taking a photo of Mr. A, Woody wood stork and Rosy spoonbill. π
Hahah – I knew it I knew it! And then maybe a few bites to eat for lunch πΊπΊπΊ
Just made lunch for hubby.
Ha! Pausing for any art?
No, but just spent an hour editing a letter to an art gallery in Florida, for my sister. She’s trying to find an outlet for her paintings in the US.
Well I was correct with some artsy connection! Ha! And best wishes for your sis! Her work is quite good!
Thanks so much, Yvette. You can see some of her best paintings here: http://gallery4africa.com/shop/
Wonderful work and wow does she have an artsy background –
Thanks, Yvette. π

The monochrome brings out the spiky texture of those palms Sylvia. I’m with Jude I would rather wait and see what fate has in store for me…
Thanks, Pauline. I can’t see myself as a fortune teller. π
Does it make a lovely sound like crystal stemware?
If only we know what lies ahead – the crystal ball does!
Maybe it does, but I haven’t got the time right now to learn how to consult it. Queen sera sera. π
Fun with the crystal ball and the reflections on it – and the photo of palm trees is beautiful. π
Thanks, Otto. π
Every couple of years I dress up as some form of Gypsy for Halloween and I keep thinking that I should get a crystal ball! I just really want one, and using it every couple of years for Halloween would mean the investment would pay off, right?!? π
Yes I guess it would, and it’s a beautiful ornament. π
Can you please read me my nice future even if I am thousands of miles away from you? Those are nice photos.
Thanks, ZL. I could try. π
I like the palms in monochrome, Sylvia, and I really love the crystal ball your husband gave you as a Valentine’s gift. What a great present. I’ll be happy to “cross your palm with silver” to get my fortune. π
Thanks so much, Cathy. I think the crystal ball will be just an ornament, but one never can tel what might happen in the futurel. Maybe I’ll buy a caravan and some big gold hoop earrings. π
I think you’d make an excellent gypsy, Sylvia! π
π
Packing….:(
Are you experiencing the high wind today?
Yes, not a nice job, Suzanne. Those gusty winds are really something else, aren’t they? π―
They kept me up all night…worried that the Gulf was going to be in my living room. 80
Yikes! Not a pleasant thought! π
I’ve had nightmares about it many times.

Thanks so much, Gislinde. Hugs to you too. π xx
What a thoughtful gift and an early one too!
Thanks, Sue. Hubby bought it for me so I don’t have to try and fit the one in our clubhouse foyer, into my purse. π
He’s trying to keep you out of jail. So romantic. π
Hahaha Love it! π
I like your monochrome photos! The crystal ball is an interesting idea!!!
Thanks, Aletta. There is one in the foyer at the clubhouse, and I’ve often said how much I love it, so hubby bought me one of my own. π
I love your monochrome photos, the palms look completely different. Well, I’ll be interested to know how much you will be able to see with your crystal ball ….great present!
Thanks so much, Gerrie. I’ll have find out what I’m supposed to be looking for in the crystal ball. π
Love your crystal ball, hubby did good! π
Thanks, Donna. Yes he did. π
The monotone palm trees look great! I looked deep into the crystal ball and can see a person holding a camera.. What does that mean?
Hahaha. You’ll have to cross my palm with silver to find out the meaning. π
WunderschΓΆn wΓΌnsche eine gute neue Woche liebe GrΓΌΓe und Umarmung Gislinde
Thanks so much Gislinde. Have a wonderful week. π xx
I love your crystal ball ~ and your photos!
Thanks, Carol. π
Oh, Sylvia what a beautiful gift! Now you can foresee all the beauty to come! π xx
Thanks, Marina. Yes indeed. π
Love the crystal ball, Sylvia. It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day gift! Great photos!
Thanks, JIll. I love it too. π
What a gorgeous and unique Valentine’s gift Sylvia π Your monochrome photos are beautiful. Thinking of you as you pack…xx
Thanks, Sherri. Yes, I’m a lucky girl. π xx
PS I love your Valentine’s Day present from Hubby π I usually only get a card!
Thanks, Sarah. I shall expect a card as well. π
Lovely pictures, Sylvia. I wonder if the palm tree in my English garden will grow that tall eventually! Better than all those annoying fir trees that people plant (probably old Christmas trees that have turned into giant conifers over the years).
Thanks, Sarah. How tall is your palm tree now?
About 10 feet. Just a baby still. My mother has one twice that height.
B and w always changes a photo dramatically…some one told me it takes away the distractions leaving what the photo is all about. π
Actually, that’s very true, Heather. π
I do agree…
As long as there’s a Christmas cactus everything will be all right!
Beautiful pic of the palms. I like your Valentine’s Day present . . . which should give you more prescience.
Thanks, Nancy. Yes, definitely so Now I can see what’s about to transpire instead of waiting to see what transpires, as my Gran used to say. π
Palm trees have such a distinct shape and you have captured yours beautifully, nice composition. As for reading my palm – mmm… I think not. I prefer surprises π
I like the photo of the crystal ball (and stand), Sylvia — so much going on in there.
You captured that crystal ball perfectly! there wasn’t even a reflection of you on there π
So you make your garden special and with a tropical view
How interesting the reflections on the crystal ball…
God bless your packing!
