Bougainvillea has large clusters of colourful papery bracts, surrounding its small and insignificant flowers. These brightly coloured flower-like leaves which serve to attract pollinators, are visible all year round in Florida. If you zoom in, you’ll see a cute explorer among those tangled branches.
Peater the green Anole Lizard was having fun playing hide and seek with any insects who might have decided to make their home in the Bougainvillea. I wonder how many of them he managed to snaffle.
Happy Friday everyone and I hope your weekend is a relaxing and enjoyable one.
What to admire more? The flowers or the visitor? 🙂
Many thanks for taking part in the Floral Friday Fotos meme
My pleasure. Thanks so much for hosting. 🙂
I’ve seen the beautiful flowers at the garden center, but a bit too pricy for an annual! They won’t survive winter in our area.
Wow, that guy is downright fancy!
That lizard is truly gorgeous AD. I am, erm, green with jealousy.
Hahaha Saw four of them this afternoon, in fact almost tripped over one when I went out to photograph two pigeons. 😄
Just beautiful, Sylvia. And I think I’m falling in love with Peater!
Thanks so much, Carol. Peater is definitely one of the more lovable rascals around here. 🙂
I love Bougainvilleas Sylvia. A job to keep it neat, but it’s well worth it and I can see Peater made himself at home there. Such a lucky guy to have you there. 😀
Thanks, Sonel. Yes, the Bougainvillea is in my neighbour’s garden and it does need a trim, but they’re hardly ever there. I don’t think Peater minds though. 😉
I am sure you wishes it was in your garden Sylvia. Good for Peater then and you of course. Now you can just take more beautiful shots of him. 😀
I’m so glad your Bougainvillea can survive the icy weather. In the Spring, it will be beautiful and colourful once again. 🙂 xx
That is one colorful lizard! When I see Bougainvillea, I know I’m in the south. Such beautiful plants.
Thanks, John. Peater is very special indeed. He always makes me smile. 😃
Love the way the word flows out of the page-Bougainvillea. How colorful and warm looking your photos are, too.
Happy weekend to yo!
Thanks so much, Ruth. Yes it’s a lovely name. Happy weekend to you too. xx
That unexpected visitor ,so devoted to Bougainvillea , turned this post into an animated one!
Yes he did, Anna. Glad you enjoyed. 🙂
well spotted. Bougainvillea always remind me of SA and this one is really lovely. No wonder he likes to hide out there
Thanks, Ruth. Yes, Bougainvillea grows so well in a frost free climate.
I hope you have a lovely weekend, Sylvia. 😊
Thanks so much, Lisa. You too. 🙂
Mr. Lizard looks happy in his hiding place.
He thinks we can’t see him there. 🙂
Or you are very good at sneaking on him 🙂
Thats a handsome fella, great shots and hava great weekend. 🙂
Thanks so much, Ed. Take care. 🙂
Mr P reminds me of a Chameleon…….especially amongst the Bougainvillea.
Yes, he’s certainly well hidden…..except from you and I. 🙂
I love bougainvillea! Peater looks very happy there.
Me too, Elaine. Peater always looks really cheerful. 🙂
What a beautiful lizard! Love the flowers too 🙂

A Bougainvillea bush – what a wonderfully exotic eatery. 🙂
I like your description, Hariod. 🙂
We’re just beginning to see some spring blooms around Atlanta. I do envy that you are able to enjoy them all year. Love Mr. Lizard taking a peek!
Thanks, Elisa. I think it must be nice to experience all the different seasons though. 🙂
A very cute and very well hidden Explorer indeed 🙂
Thanks, Andy. Yes, but he couldn’t hide from me. 🙂
Exactly 😄
Oh do I ever love that lizard, Sylvia — great capture.
Thanks, Jet. Peater has the cutest little face. Can’t help but love it. 🙂
The best defense is good camouflage!
That’s for sure, especially in the animal world. 🙂
A perfect hiding place! We had a lot of bougainvilleas in Natal!
Exactly so. We had a few Bougainvilleas in Johannesburg too. 🙂
Beautiful Bougainvillea. It’s so cool to find a Lizard in the trees, we don’t have that in our Country 🙂 Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend 🙂 ❤
