Here’s my entry for this week’s ‘Mundane Monday Challenge‘. Ms. Anhingaย eyes Mr. Ali-baba from the safety of a tree branch.

My blog friend and author, Sarah Potter always posts a Monday Morning Haiku. Check out her beautiful Spring haiku and image here.
Wishing you all a very happy week. Hubby is on the scaffold putting up ceiling timbers in our living area. Hopefully one day soon we’ll be able to move out of the bedroom.

I always say this….but there’s nothing mundane about your wildlife Sylvia๐
I believe you could be right, Seonaid. I suppose it’s all a matter of what one gets used to. ๐
Indeed….your mundane….well what can I say as a lass from Scotland?๐
๐
Nice Haiku Sylvia you are a lady of many talents. Do you think Hubby will be finished before you go away?
Thanks, Pauline. No I’m sure he won’t be finished, but we won’t go away until we can at least bring everything out of storage and Into the house, because it needs to be in an air-conditioned environment during the hot and humid summer. The storage unit doesn’t have air conditioning.
The logistics of it all when you live on site are quite overwhelming.
Yes it’s quite a thing. ๐
Love your illustrated haiku! Not mundane at all ๐
Thanks so much, Helen. ๐
Your haiku suits your photos perfectly. A lovely combination. ๐
Thanks so much, John. So glad you enjoyed. ๐
I’d hardly call your backyard “mundane,” Sylvia ๐
Well, my tongue was firmly in my cheek, Carol. ๐
Oh, I’m so glad to hear that!
The image of the water is almost mystical!
Yes, and there’s the magical Ali-baba beckoning me in. ๐
Don’t do it, phone a friend!!!
Being as you’re a counsellor, I’ll take your advice. ๐
It seems gators like following you around.
I’m a ‘gator magnet. ๐
Beautiful image and Haiku, but I don’t see anything mundane about a backyard with a scaly hunter! Wishing you a speedy exit from your bedroom Sylvia. I actually expected to find you out already ๐
Thanks so much, Madhu. I guess it’s just what one gets used to. I never imagined that I would have an alligator swimming just outside my house, but now it seems like the norm. ๐ It will be a few months yet until the living area is finished. The place is big, and hubby has actually had to gut the whole inside of the house and rebuild ceilings and walls. He’s done a great job with the bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry. Now he’s working out the ceilings for the other rooms. It’s all going to be quite fancy, so takes lots of thought and precision. It will all come together suddenly, I have no doubt. ๐
Einen schรถnen Dienstag wรผnsche ich tolles Foto mit dem Krokodil liebe Grรผรe von mir und Umarmung Gislinde
Thanks so much, Gislinde. Happy Tuesday to you too. ๐ xx
Another resident alligator, or one just cruising by..?
This one lives here and we’ve also seen a second one. I wish they would show themselves more often. ๐
Inspiring… ๐
Thanks, Drake. ๐
So sorry to picture you living in the midst of the construction. Hoping you get it all settled soonest and can enjoy your amazing looking home.
Thanks, Gunta. It’s all good, and although the living area still looks like a construction site, I can see the light at the very far end of the tunnel. It will all be worth it. ๐
The bird looks lonely. The hunter looks calm.
I think that the bird and the hunter should never meet. ๐
You’re backyard is quite interesting indeed. Good to see your entry again. Hope all the ;cute backyard dwellers’ are doing good.
Thanks so much, Jithin. Yes, all is well in the zoo here. ๐
Good to know that ๐
Your hubby is great, Sylvia. I wish mine had more incentive, but that’s a story for another day ๐
Yes, he is and to say that he’ll be 72 next month, his energy and creativity knows no bounds. I think he’s really awesome. ๐
Both a safe distance away from each other, Sylvia!
Yes indeed, Tom. They each know their place. ๐
la preda e il cacciatore…due immagini straordinarie per due nomi bellissimi, sto ancora pensando alla tua anagrafe ha ha
ma il maritino quale premio avrร per tutto quelgran lavorare?
๐
Thanks so much, Annalisa. I didn’t quite understand your last question. Google translate didn’t make sense. ๐ xx
Said it before – you have a very different form of mundane from mine!
Hehehe. Bet you aren’t you jealous. ๐
A bit!
๐
I could never get used to a life where alligators are close neighbours, Ad. I might have to stay in bed! ๐ฆ
๐ I never imagine life with alligators until I got here. They’re just there, so I’ve gotten used to them being around. ๐
Sounds like it’s more fun in the bedroom Sylvia. ๐
Lovely shots of these beauties. Love your Haiku. ๐ โฅ
Thanks so much, Sonel. Glad you enjoyed my haiku. Two down, many more to go I’m thinking. xx Hehehe. I’m going to be naughty and say that it’s no fun in the bedroom if hubby is up on the scaffold. ๐
Well, you’re very good at it. I won’t even try. LOL!
hahahaha! No fun at all. ๐
Hi Sylvia! Great shots but what is that bird? (Hope I didn’t miss it if you have already said what it is!) ๐
Hi, Liz. This is Ms. Anhinga. These are also known as Snake Birds because of how they swim with just their head and long neck sticking out of the water. Here’s a much better photo which shows the beautiful wings drying in the sunshine. https://anotherday2paradise.wordpress.com/tag/anhinga-drying-wings/
Think I’d stay on that branch. Amazing photo.
Safest place to be, Victoria…….if you have wings. ๐
Well, I see you didn’t take the easy way out this time and scope out a gator-free zone (do those even exist down there?). What sort of bird is that? Never seen anything like it!
I don’t think there can be any ‘gator-free zones here if you want a lake view. This is an Anhinga, also known as the Snake Bird because of how it swims with just its long neck and head above the water. Here’s a nice picture showing its beautiful wings. https://anotherday2paradise.wordpress.com/tag/anhinga-drying-wings/
I did see that pic you posted before but didn’t put these together as the same bird. Thank you for the education! As far as lake views….I think I’d skip that to be gator-free….told you before…you are a brave girl!
Well, the bird in the tree isn’t very clear and if I didn’t know what it was, I would also be puzzled. ๐
he is not myfavorite
I know that, Marylou. ๐
I always wonder who is going to stop by your place today. You have the most interesting friends.
Me too, Rebecca. Never a dull moment. ๐ x
Hi Sylvia-Happy Monday!! Cheryl x
Thanks, Cheryl. ๐ x
xx
Ms. A can’t go any safer than where she is ๐ nice to see Mr Ali-baba and we’ll see what he’ll be up to in the days ahead! ๐
Thanks, Lola. Yes, I hope Ali-baba comes around often. He’s not as big as Mr. A, but I’m sure he’ll grow. We have lots of huge fish in the lake. ๐
Don’t you just wonder what that alligator is thinking?
Great post. Thank you for sharing. ๐
Yes, I can see that he’s got his beady eye on something. Probably me. ๐
Sylvia is this a new Mr A? Good luck to your husband and the building progress. As much as one might like to spend the day in bed it likely grows a bit tiresome after a few weeks or months or…. ๐
Hahaha…… I could never spend the day in bed. Too much living to do, even if it’s only gym, sweeping sawdust, blogging and stalking our wildlife. ๐ Yes, Ali-baba could never replace Mr. A, but he’s a nice substutute. ๐
Oh nice to see a new Mr A. Happy living!
Thank you for the kind mention, Sylvia ๐ You definitely have some interesting wildlife where you live. I like the way your haiku ties your two pictures together. And your scaly hunter definitely has the look of the predatory dinosaur about him!
My pleasure, Sarah. I always enjoy your Monday Haiku. Yes, there is definitely something dinosaur-ish about these guys. ๐
Happy Monday to you Sylvia!!
Thanks so much, Mary. ๐
Happy Monday!
Thanks, Nancy. ๐
Pleased to see an Ali on your photos again. Our Monday is very mundane, it’s chucking it down now, so we’re all huddled inside.
Yes, I’m always happy to see an ali roving around……in the water, that is. ๐
It’s quite dull here today and I think we’re also in for some more rain. Hope you find lots of interesting things to do on your rainy day. xx
Mr. Ali-baba doesn’t look too happy that it’s Monday.
Maybe he had a rough weekend. These alligators really know how to party. ๐
A new scaly guest? ๐
Yes, Ali-baba is the resident alligator in our new backyard. Can’t live without an alligator. ๐
I know right?? you seem to be a popular stop for these guys ๐๐
Didn’t you know….I’m an alligator magnet. ๐
