Just as Grandpa Iggy decided to go for a swim yesterday, I spotted a beautiful Snowy Egret a little further along the water’s edge.
The rather loud sound of Iggy’s belly-flop, alerted the beautiful Ms. Snowy to possible danger and away she flew.
This is my entry for Charlotte’s ‘Feathers on Friday’ challenge, and is also day #6 of my ‘7 Days of Nature’ challenge; thanks to Anna of ‘Una Vista Di San Fermo’ for inviting me to participate. If you would like to join in, just post a nature photo on seven consecutive days and link to my blog. You can also invite another blogger to take part.
I think the second photo might just qualify for Nancy’s Photo a Week Challenge, ‘A Different Focus’, as I seem to have accidentally got the wildflowers more in focus than the bird.
Wishing you all a very happy and relaxing weekend.

Oooooh! That second shot in mid-flight looks pretty awesome. Great shots buddy.
I was quite chuffed to get the shot. 😀
I love Mr. Snowy’s pony tail! wow, what a great hairdresser he must have, The second shot is great with the focus on the wildflowers – well done, Sylvia 😀
Thanks, Dianne. Love the pony tail too. I wish I could find such a hairdresser. 🙂
Loved your compositions, Sylvia! Beautiful bird and bright colors there. 🙂
Thanks so much, Nandini. 🙂
Where’s Mr. Iggy? Mr. Snowy seems like a wise guy, and I mean that in the nicest way! Have a great weekend, Sylvia. I’ve sent you an email asking a HUGE favor, so I hope you’re still talking to me when the week is over. 🙂
Iggy went for a swim. Ms. Snowy didn’t want to share the water with him. 🙂
great photos…I see these fellows in Key West and Marco Island…got a photo of one this winter. He was simply walking along the sidewalk, without a care in the world. Wasn’t the least bit concerned when my daughter and I walked past no more than 4 ft away.
Thanks, Heather. They are such lovely birds. 🙂
Ms. Snowy is gorgeous in stillness and taking off, too! I love how graceful this one looks, too! You are always brightening my days when I come and visit, Sylvia. hugs xo
Yes, Ms. Snowy is just so lovely to watch, Robin. Thanks for the hugs. 🙂 x
It is the least I can do. . . hugs are free! 🙂
❤
Wünsche ein schönes sonniges Wochenende liebe Grüße Gislinde
Thanks so much, Gislinde. 🙂 xx
Beautiful shot of the egret, it is SO white….. quite a stunning bird. Interesting wildlife you have as always.
What a great composition in the first photo Sylvia!
Love how the wind is blowing the feathers in the firs photo Sylvia. Have a wonderful weekend!
Me too. Wish my hair would blow all the same way. 🙂
forse hanno un parrucchiere molto abile nello stagno per avere così bei capelli i tuoi splendidi esempleri, Sylvie! buon sabato in Florida! 🙂
I think I must find that hairdresser and ask her to so something about mine. 🙂
Love his “hair” in the first one. 🙂
Thanks, Jessica. I’m so envious. 🙂
Looking out for one another, very cute. What a show they always put on for you and your camera, Sylvia 😉
Thanks, Mabel. Yes, they never cease to entertain. 🙂
She’s a beautiful bird. You’re lucky to live surrounded by so many fascinating creatures, even if most of them are trying to eat each other.
Hahaha I think most of the eating part probably happens after dark. I don’t wish to know what goes on. It would spoil the illusion of paradise on the pond. 🙂
Well caught…
Thanks, Pauline. I just got my finger to press in time. 😃
I really like the shot of her (him?) from the back.. It is beautiful!
Thank you so much. 😃
You’ve done it again. Very nice!
Thanks so much, Dan. 🙂
Beautiful, Sylvia! Thanks for joining the challenge!
Thanks, Nancy. My pleasure. 🙂
Such a beautiful bird! The last time I saw a Snowy Egret was a few years ago in the Caribbean.
Thanks, Charlotte. We have quite a few around here. 🙂
Beautiful! I love the first photo particularly of the rippling water as the backdrop to gorgeous Ms Snowy…and then in flight too! I think you have all your creatures, bright and beautiful, ready to pose for you at the ready! You have a wonderful weekend too Sylvia…see you next week 🙂 xx
Thanks so much, dear Sherri. Yes, I love photographing all my creatures. xx 🙂
Beautiful capture of the snowhite egret.
Thanks so much, Marylou. I almost didn’t get the shot. 🙂
great capture, Sylvia. Ms. Snowy is elegantly beautiful! 🙂 have a wonderful weekend, too! 🙂
Thanks so much, Lola. xx
to catch the taking-wing is certainly a great affair, and on the other pic the ripples, like a corrugated plastic sheet on the water bottom, in contrast to the soft feathers, I like this.
Thank you for your lovely comment. I don’t often manage to catch birds in flight, so i was very pleased with this one, even though Ms. Snowy was a bit out of focus. 🙂
as long as you stay on focus the world will go on rotating 🙂
I guess it will anyway, without my help. 😀
From now on I’ll call her “the bride”….
Fabulous photos and great model!
That’s a great name, Anna. I love it. 🙂
Ms Snowy is rather beautiful – beats dear old Iggy!
Oh dear, poor old Iggy can’t even begin to compete in the beauty stakes. 😦
Never mind, I’m sure he has character in spades….
That will really comfort him. 🙂
I do hope so! 😀
Wow, she’s beautiful. I love the taking flight shot, Sylvia!
Thanks so much, Jill. 🙂
Love the developing character line on these bird shots 🙂
Thanks, Liz. Glad you did. 🙂
