My Sunday Photo: Got the blues in my backyard

Here is the bird I really bought the bird-feeder for. This was taken from my bathroom window yesterday, but today I saw two of them hopping around with four squirrels. I don’t think they’ve been able to use the bird-feeder yet, but we’re making a plan.

In the meanwhile, here’s my  Birthday Boy in blue.

It’s a beautiful day here in Florida and we’re off to meet friends for brunch at the Old Key Lime House restaurant on the Intracoastal. Have a wonderful Sunday.

  1. What a lovely man your hubby is Sylvia, love his smile – wishing him a very Happy (belated) Birthday! 🙂 Blue suits him! And your bird is a beauty…hope your plan worked for the feeder 🙂 xx

    • Thanks so much, Sherri. Yes, he really does look good in blue. The bird feeder is now back inside waiting for another plan. The squirrels are very tenacious and managed to break the hook, knock it onto the ground and shake all the seed out. 😕

  2. Happy B-Day to your hubby. My mom has a dedicated Sammy/ Jay feeder, we use plain peanuts that we get in bulk from a feed store. 🙂

  3. Happy belated birthday to your husband, Sylvia! I always enjoy seeing a bird, even a blue jay! Hope you both have a wonderful time up in New Jersey! Enjoy your time away from blogging, too. ❤

  4. Great shot of the Blue Jay, Sylvia (from the bathroom window? the things we go through for a good shot!) 😉 Hubby looks great in blue, I hope he had a wonderful day 😀

  5. lovely bird, do you know what the name is? We have blue jays here but this doesn’t look like them…Happy Birthday to your husband, hope he enjoyed his special day!!!

      • very interesting Sylvia…the blue jays I’ve seen around here have more blue, of course there are different looks/types for different areas of the world. To be honest I’ve not seen one where I live now, but when I lived lakeside I saw them often out my kitchen window. Sadly I don’t have a photo to show you…if I’m ever fortunate enough to take one I’ll post it for you.

  6. the birdie is a beauty… and those grey squirrels are a pain in hte neck! if you hang the feeder out will that stop them getting in?
happy birthday to the boy in blue!

    • Yes he is gorgeous. I’m beginning to also think the squirrels are not quite as cute as they look. Yesterday, we bought a 3′ thin metal rod and screwed it into the tree trunk. The squirrels just take a flying leap and cling on for dear life whilst they gobble. 😀

      • they are cute but they are also mental. I’ve seen one eating out a kfc packet once. I hope it was the batter… and they scare away other wildlife as they are so aggressive.

  7. All my best to your handsome birthday boy…I hope he enjoyed the day. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day here in Vero Beach as well.

  8. Happy Birthday to your husband, Sylvia. Blue Jays can be noisy, but they’re so beautiful, aren’t they? Enjoy your brunch.
