Yesterday we had a lot of rain, and through my bathroom window I spotted the drenched and bedraggled Snowy Egret, standing in quiet contemplation at the water’s edge.
If you have photos of any feathered friends, pop them over to Charlotte’s ‘Feathers on Friday’ challenge.
Tonight we’re invited to a cocktail party at our friends’ house, and on Sunday I’ve organised for us to meet for dinner with two lots of new neighbours. Hubby is working away on the renovations as usual and there are encouraging banging noises filtering through to where I’m sitting. Wishing you all a happy weekend.
hope you had a fun weekend!
The rain and the spacey look from the egret certainly makes this a unique and beautiful shot. It almost sent me into a trance while eating breakfast… or perhaps I was just struggling to wake up.
questo tuo instancabile maritino Γ¨ una persona davvero speciale! la diamo a lui la corona del castello di Frederiksbogr?
ha ragione chi ha definito la tua immagine surreale…io aggiungo anche ” evanescente!
π
I love the word ‘evanescent’. I shall add it to my vocabulary. π Hubby says to thank you very much for your generous award. xx
Beautiful photo of a beautiful creature
Thanks so much. π
They don’t mind the damp these birds, do they, Sylvia?
Not at all. It’s like water off a duck’s back. π
that’s an almost surreal photo…I have a fondness for some reason of egrets…he looks huge!
Thanks, Badfish. I agree with you about the ‘surreal’. π
The egret was nice enough to stay in remain to allow you to take the pic.
Yes, wasn’t that kind of him? π
I have feathered friends, but not so still positioned like yours. A woodpecker using the starling box, for instance. I only hear his cackling cries in the evening and in the morning I see sticks and feathers in the pool. What shall I take a photo of? His bird’s droppings, haha?
Beautiful friend of youors. Have a nice Weekend, Sylvia.
Thanks for the smiles, Anand. π
A beautiful send off to the weekend, Sylvia! Today must be the day of Egrets as the salt marsh was studded with about 30 of them tonight, like white candles in a huge green cake π Have a fun weekend learning to know new neighbors!
Thanks so much, Helen. You really paint a beautiful word picture. π
I think of birds sometimes as winged messengers. In his wet, white feathers with the rainy misty photograph, I dream angel like Michael the Archangel. I am not at all being preachy, just have felt this about birds but this is my first time I see his “wings”as other- worldly. β€
Thanks for you lovely comment, Robin. How fascinating that you saw this. Beautiful! xx
I just love that view from your bathroom, Sylvia π
Enjoy your cocktail party and dinner and have a lovely weekend xxxx
Thanks so much, Dianne. I also love the view from my bathroom window. π xxx
He looks like he was wearing heavy coat that was soaked with water. Nice capture. Have a good party time π
Yes he does. Thanks so much, YC. It was a great party last night. π
And to you. Nice picture!
Thanks so much, Cynthia. π
Happy weekend to yo and Hubby, and I hope that Mr Egret gets some dry time!
Thanks, Gilly. It’s raining again no, so not much chance of him drying off. I haven’t seen him today, or any Iggys either. π
I am convinced that birds have extraordinary intellect! Happy weekend, my dear friend.
Thanks, Rebecca. I don’t think we can have any inkling of what goes on in their heads, but I’m sure it’s quite a lot for a bird brain. π
I love how you think!!!
Poor soggy egret! Enjoy your weekend Sylvia. May the noises continue. π
Love the photo. Great view from your bathroom. Have a lovely weekend.
This photo has such a lovely, soft look, Sylvia.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the new neighbors!
Thanks so much, Carol. π
Happy weekend to you too!
This splendid bird could be called “the bride”……
Yes, I see what you mean, Anna. The beautiful white feathers. π
Oh bless! Isn’t he gorgeous? I’ve got a brollie π π
Yes he is, Jo. How kind of you to offer. π xx
Ingedagte
Lekker naweek
Thanks, Tina. Yes, lost in thought. π
Spotted one of these beauties at my park earlier in the week. I couldn’t get as close, though, as it was out in the lake and even the telephoto wouldn’t bring me this close. Have a great weekend enjoying all your activities.
janet
Thanks so much, Janet. I was lucky to have him so close. π
A beautiful atmospheric shot Sylvia! Have a great weekend π
Thanks, Val. xx
Beautiful feathered furriend π Pawkisses for a wonderful weekend π β€

Beautiful shot. It’s magnificent.
Thanks, Marylou. π
That is such a beautiful picture. Quite magical really π
Thanks, Sarah. I thought so too. π
beautiful fellow even soaked! enjoy your social events this weekend!
Thanks so much, Heather. I’m looking forward to the social events. π
Beautifully done, Sylvia. The egret looks like it is contemplating life…or watching out for its next prey π Hope the cocktail party will be fun and good luck with the neighbours π
Thanks, Mabel. Yes, he was most probably thinking about dinnertime. π
What a gorgeous shot, Sylvia. It makes you wonder what he’s thinking. Enjoy the weekend!
Thanks, Jill. He was probably thinking that with the rain, the fish wouldn’t be able to see him, and he could quickly nab one for dinner. π
very nice capture! maybe drenched but elegant still π sounds like a wonderful weekend for you and hubby, Sylvia! have fun! π
Thanks so much, Lola. I wish I could manage to look elegant when I’m drenched with rain. π
oh how i wish, too π π
Beautiful capture, love his look of contemplation. π
Thanks, Donna. Me too. π
There’s a lovely look of surrender in this egret, and wonderful seeing the raindrops on the water too. Have a fun weekend, Sylvia~~
Thanks, Jet. I love your comment.
Our friend here certainly ponders on life a lot π
Apparently so. π
