A Sunday Morning Outing

The Duck family looked so serene as they came gliding past my backyard. They always make it look so effortless, but then I remembered what Michael Caine once said: “Be like a duck; calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath.”

The dinner/dance last night was really wonderful.  Delicious food, scintillating company, and great music to dance to.

Happy Sunday to you all.

  1. Ducks really are a marvel, aren’t they? Aside from the “effortless” swimming, it’s a wonder those short little wings can get that body up into the air. Yet they do and can carry the birds far distances.

    • No, didn’t even take my phone with me. I guess I could have gotten some photos of the amazing woman who played every type of wind instrument you could think of. She looked a bit like Dolly Parton, so you can use your imagination. 🙂

  2. I liked your Michael Caine quote. I am grateful to know good people may make things “look easy” but usually they are “paddling like crazy!” 😀 The water and ducks were beautiful, Sylvia. My three grandies who slept over got up, dressed, went with me to feed three mallards (before going to eat breakfast) and I wondered out loud, “Wonder why the girl ducks aren’t here?” Marley, age 7, without hesitation said, “Maybe they like to sleep in, Nana!” 🙂

  3. I spent most of my teaching life feeling like a duck! Great that you had a good night, I don’t think you can beat good food, good company and definitely good music!

      • I think I meant to say peaceful. I think the word that’s on there looks terrible.
Anyway, YAY … for the cupboards. I just had a walk-in tun installed. The hammering and dust everywhere had me unnerved. Hope uou can manage some outings to avoid the noise. It will all be worth it when it’s all done. I’m very happy for you. 😍
