Woody’s Feathers for Cee’s FFC

For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge, I decided to use some 0f my photos of ‘Woody’ wood stork, who I haven’t seen for quite some time.

Although he doesn’t score too well in the hair stakes being almost bald,Β  he does however make up for it, by having an abundance of chest feathers just like some guys as they begin to age.

His back is quite fluffy too, a bit like………(see above) πŸ™‚

HeΒ  has very good balance, being able to stand on one leg for quite a long time.

He has a wing span of about five feet, and don’t you just love those black-edged coat tails?

Although he looks slightly ungainly on land, Woody is an excellent flier and can soar thousands of feet up, riding the warm air currents.

Thanks, Woody for being patient with me, and posing so beautifully for your photo shoot. Please come back again soon.

Wishing you all a most enjoyable weekend.

  1. Great feathers! Woody posed so nicely for you, Sylvia. If you see him again, please tell him about another modeling opportunity here at the salt marsh πŸ™‚

  2. They are such a large bird. I saw a large flock of them gliding high above our home a couple of weeks ago. You can’t mistake them for another bird with their white and black markings.

  3. This photo series is truly amazing, Sylvia! I felt like I could reach into my cell phone and feel warm, sunny feathers and sense Woody’s calm spirit. He looks like an “old soul” and he is an angel for being such a good model. πŸ™‚ Happy Saturday!
Another date to be had. . . πŸ˜‰ Not a secret now, I let the cat out of the bag the other day, in my blog.

  4. An amazing creature He is!!! I love watching them when I’m down your way… Their balance astounds me, and those feathers….amazing captures of yet another “(furry” fluffy) friend

  5. I think Mr. Woody look very stylist. Although his feathers around his long neck are not as smooth but I think that is about his style. Ah, it cool too that he can soar high with thermal current.
