For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge, I decided to use some 0f my photos of ‘Woody’ wood stork, who I haven’t seen for quite some time.
Although he doesn’t score too well in the hair stakes being almost bald,Β he does however make up for it, by having an abundance of chest feathers just like some guys as they begin to age.
His back is quite fluffy too, a bit like………(see above) π
HeΒ has very good balance, being able to stand on one leg for quite a long time.
He has a wing span of about five feet, and don’t you just love those black-edged coat tails?
Although he looks slightly ungainly on land, Woody is an excellent flier and can soar thousands of feet up, riding the warm air currents.
Thanks, Woody for being patient with me, and posing so beautifully for your photo shoot. Please come back again soon.
Wishing you all a most enjoyable weekend.
Excellent feathers. π π
Thanks, Cee. π
A super model rarely exhibits the poise Woody shone during your shoot. He’s — and you photos — are a real stunner.
Woody is a truly exceptional poser. Fab photos π
Yes he is. Thanks, Liz. π
Beautiful shots. I’ve never seen one of these. Those dark feathers add elegance to his attire.
Those are very fine chest feathers!
Yes they are. π
Wow Sylvia – up close shots are real stunner. Interesting colors, striking – the pose looking straight on is awesome.
Thanks so much, Mary. He’s a great photographic model but doesn’t show up nearly often enough.
Doesn’t realize he is in demand, lol!
Lovely captures of Woody! They always pose so nicely. Wish I could stand on one leg as long as they can! lol
Me too. I just found your comments, Donna. I hope you weren’t standing on one leg all the time you’ve been in my spam folder. π―
Woody certainly does work the camera! Great post. Thank you. π
Great feathers! Woody posed so nicely for you, Sylvia. If you see him again, please tell him about another modeling opportunity here at the salt marsh π
Thanks, Helen. He seems rather elusive of late. I’ve posted a ‘Wanted’ poster on my FB page. π
Pragtige foto’s
Baie dankie. π
They are such a large bird. I saw a large flock of them gliding high above our home a couple of weeks ago. You can’t mistake them for another bird with their white and black markings.
So true, Karen. How wonderful to have seen a whole flock of them! We only seem to get them in ones and twos here.
It was very unusualβ¦I’ve only seen one or two myself usually.
His feet look pretty powerful too!
Yes they do. Almost like a big hand with black fingernails. π
Amazing photos!
Thanks, Yvonne.
He’d definitely beat me in the “standing on one leg” event at the next Olympics. I can manage about seven or eight seconds, I think.
Keep practising, Bun. It might come in useful one day. π
Well, I do get some practice moving from leg to leg every morning at around the time my elder son is in the bathroom writing his memoirs (or whatever it is he does in there).

This photo series is truly amazing, Sylvia! I felt like I could reach into my cell phone and feel warm, sunny feathers and sense Woody’s calm spirit. He looks like an “old soul” and he is an angel for being such a good model. π Happy Saturday!
Another date to be had. . . π Not a secret now, I let the cat out of the bag the other day, in my blog.
Thanks so much, Robin. Yes, he definitely does look like “an old soul.” I’m really happy for you on the dating front. xx
An amazing creature He is!!! I love watching them when I’m down your way… Their balance astounds me, and those feathers….amazing captures of yet another “(furry” fluffy) friend
Thanks, Kathy. We get some amazing birds here……and scaly critters too. π
Lol for sure Sylvia
beautiful bird, beautiful Fotos, beautiful chest feathers
Thanks, Anand. π
Through the bathroom window? π
Not this time, Derrick. This was at our previous house, which didn’t have a bathroom window. π
Are you stalking the stork or is the stork stalking you?
Or does a stalking stork even know what to do?
If only he could talk …
Hahaha Nice little jingle, Ark. I wish all the critters could talk, although they’d probably tell me to back off from stalking them. π
Hmm losing hair from one’s head only to have it sprout from all sorts of other unauthorised locations.. sounds a bit too familiar Sylvia! Great pictures! π
Thanks, Adrian. Hubby also related to that bit. π

Thanks, Marko. π
Woody looks like a fine mighty bird. Might give Mr GBH a run for his money in the looks and personality department ππ
His beak is definitely more impressive than Mr. GBH’s. π
Love the shots and I’m laughing at your comparisons…which break down quickly once you get to standing on one leg for a long time, something most men I know can’t do.
janet
Haha Yes, you’re right. I did run out of ideas after the standing on one leg. π I can do it, but only for a minute.
Wouldn’t you love to feel his feathers, Sylvia? He looks so soft and fuzzy. Great shots!
I would indeed, Jill. I’d love to feel Iggy’s skin too, as well as stroke Sammy’s soft white tummy. π
I think Mr. Woody look very stylist. Although his feathers around his long neck are not as smooth but I think that is about his style. Ah, it cool too that he can soar high with thermal current.
He is very stylish indeed. I love that ruffled collar he wears. π
Wood storks are fun to watch as they parade in single file . . . they remind me of Groucho Marx pacing back and forth with his cigar.
You’re lucky if you have a few Woody’s, Nancy. I just wish I had even one at the moment. π
Wow that is a hair do!
It sure is. Are you jealous? π
I have such a thin mop so yes I could use a little fluffing up! π
Me too. I don’t really want hair around my neck and chest though. π
Terrible job all that waxing. π
Ha! π Ouch!! π―
He’s beautiful!
Yes he is. π
Such wonderful feathers!
Thanks, Lisa.
Wonderful photos as always! βΊ
Thanks so much. π
oh! seems I haven’t met this one yet! π
He’s definitely worth a mention. π
Ya π
Just excellent!
Wish a happy weekend ,to both you and hubby
Thanks, Anna. π
Well done.Nice weekend
Thanks, Marylou. π
