“What you see before you, my friend, is the result of a lifetime of chocolate.”
~Katharine Hepburn
I suppose that there are some people who are indifferent to chocolate and maybe even a few who absolutely abhor it, but I’m certainly not one of them. Most of my chosen desserts just happen to contain that delicious substance.
Even a scoop of ice cream is for me best when it’s double chocolate, and to add to the delight, why not sprinkle on a few M&M’s?
My ‘Death By Chocolate’ pie is legendary, and on many an occasion, has been requested to grace my sister’s Sunday lunch table.
This very large chocolate cake was to say “Thank you” to the wonderful staff of Mom’s care home, just over a year ago. The other residents enjoyed sharing it in Mom’s memory.
One of my most popular posts on my old blog, was a recipe for this ‘Decadent Chocolate Cheesecake’ which I made for Easter. Those cute chocolate bunnies and eggs made it extra delicious.

If you also have a penchant for chocolate, be sure to visit Nancy’s chocolaty ‘Photo a Week’ challenge.
Hope you’re all having a delicious weekend. Work is progressing very well here.

Nice quote, and wonderful cakes! God bless ya, thanks for sharing. 🙂
Oh, but what a way to go! Love that opening shot.
My wife has stuck me on a one week detox thingy… No dairy & most definitely no yummy deserts. Your pictures were lovely but hard viewing. 🤐
Oh dear….so sorry, Jim. Never mind, the week will soon pass. 😀
Not soon enough.
Hang in there! 🙂
*sigh* Chocolate.
I really wish I disliked it. My life would be so much easier. And thinner.
Sigh….another chocolate lover on a diet 🙂
Oh, that’s not ideal, Annette. Good luck. 🙂
How can anyone be indifferent to chocolate? Life would be so incredibly boring … 🙂 A delicious post.
I agree with you. Thanks, Miriam.
Glad to hear things are going well this weekend, good luck with today.
Thanks so much, Amy. I’m excited. 🙂
I agree with Jane Seabrook – what a great quote! 🙂
Me too, Dianne. 🙂
Delicious !
Absolutely! 🙂
Well…DEvastating photographic chocks…I just have to have some, right now. Oh, it takes at least an hour to fix something…wait a minute, maby there is an ice cream chocolate cake in the fridge…Sorry I just have to go digging it out…
😅 Good luck with that.
…found it!!! Persuading my husband to have a bit as well. Even if it cannot match your chocolate bombs…After all -it is Sunday ;-D
👍👯
Ah so mouthwatering
Thanks so much. 🙂
Great photos, Sylvia! So glad you joined the challenge!
Thanks, Nancy. I couldn’t resist this one. 🙂
Did you know cocoa is an antioxidant? Yep, it is! I put it in my body butter and it really does work on my skin. And yes I do eat chocolate but in small qualities. I’m not used to sugar any more. 🙂 ❤
Yes, I did know that. We tend to favour the dark chocolate, which is apparently good for you, but as with everything, only in moderation. 🙂
I do eat the semi-chocolate, as it really is better for you. Even with chocolate I try to eat the best. LOL
Oh. My. Goodness!
Sylvia… I… need… chocolate… must… have… chocolate…
Me too, Tom. 😀
I like the pics, but I’m not a big fan of chocolate 🙂
Thanks, Derrick. That’s okay, all the more for everyone else. 🙂
At least those delicious photos don’t add calories on to me. I devoured every single picture 🙂
Haha Very true, Ute. 🙂
Oh how I do love chocolate! and your photos too 🙂
Thanks, Lisa. 🙂
If there’s no chocolate in Heaven, I’m not going either. Unless I can take that chocolate cake with me. 🙂
Haha Me too. 🙂
Mmmm, I almost licked my computer screen. Your cheesecake looks divine.
Thanks, Carol. 🙂
Yummy! 🙂
Absolutely. 🙂
Very tempting.. 🙂
Haha 🙂
Chocolate? Hmm… yes, I can think of many worse ways to go. 🙂
Me too, Bun. 🙂
Ohhhhh. The days when I could eat such wonderful this… These last look so good!
Thank, Jessica. Ah yes, the good old days. 😀
Picture perfect! Off to hunt for some chocolate
Good luck! 😃
My mouth started watering from the first photograph.
They all look extremely pleasing to the eyes and palate.
YUMMY …!!!!
Thanks, Issy. I wish I could send you a taste. 😅
Me too … 🍰
I would kill for any one if those …& I’m trying to go slow on chocolate … So don’t tempt me! (Is your recipe for ” death by chocolate” online?)
I don’t know whether it’s a good idea for you to make the chocolate pie if you’re trying to “go slow on chocolate.” 🙂 I did have the recipe on my old South Africa blog, but that site was taken down a couple of years ago. I just found this recipe on another site http://www.food.com/recipe/romany-chocolate-cream-pie-332237 (Romany Creams are South African chocolate cream sandwich biscuits containing coconut. Maybe you have an Australian equivalent.
It looks devine! I’ll keep the recipe for a special day! There is always a time for chocolate! Thanks!
Salivating!
Hehe I just had a chocolate protein shake. 🙂
I’m not one of them either! I find it hard to believe that there are people among us who can resist eating the screen of this post! Floating on a chocolate cloud…. 😉 xx
Haha Your comment made me laugh, Marina. It conjured up a very funny picture. 🙂
Sorry, I can’t talk right now. I’m drooling all over your delicious photos, Sylvia. Yum!
Hehehe….that’s okay, Marion. 🙂
I’m drooling on my keyboard. Yum!
You too, Jill? 😀 I could eat some of them myself, right now. 🙂
There’s more to life than chocolate . . . but it’s a great start!
Agreed, Nancy. 🙂
yummy! for a dash of happy, one always have some chocolate. 🙂
It always does the trick. 🙂
My name is Marina and I’m a chocoholic too… I admit it🍫🍩🍪
😅💩
OMG, these are to die for 🙂 Your chocolate cheesecake takes the price! Luckily I still have some treats I bought from my last trip….went a bit overboard…if you can do that with chocolate ?
Thanks, Helen. Those treats also sound yummy. 🙂
Oh my word! I’m feeling virtuous now that I only had apple pie and icecream -vanilla 🙂 – for afters today. One of my 5 a day, you know 🙂 Happy indulgent weekend, Ad! You need the calories with all that work going on at yours.
Don’t usually eat dessert at home, but we have Tiramisu with Chocolate Wine for teatime. 🙂
Chocolate wine!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 I need a small sample. (or better still, a large one 🙂 )
It’s delicious sauce indeed. It’s called Europa Chocovine, a combination of Dutch chocolate and red wine. 😛
I might just have to Google it for suppliers 🙂
What a way to go….
Agreed, Rebecca. 🙂
Is there another flavor for dessert besides chocolate? Not for this woman who grew up next door to a candy store. 🙂
Hahaha No, I don’t believe there is, Judy. 🙂
Yum,yum! Dark, please.
janet
My favourite too. 🙂
What would be life without chocolate?
No kidding, for me is a real remedy…besides I love its taste!
Delicious cakes in your pics……
I agree with you, Anna. One of life’s pleasures. 🙂
oooohhhhh now ‘chocolate’ says it all 😀
As Forrest Gump said, “Life is like a box of chocolates. ” 😆
Wise words lol 😀
AND – on the edge
Haha. Yes, for sure. 🙂
Hmm, these pictures make want to get a bar of chocolate and eat the half of it … aggrr. They look so delicious. Oh, Jane Seabrook’s quote is a serious stand on the substance 🙂
Only half of it? Well, I suppose it depends on how big it is. 🙂
Half may already be too much for me, unfortunately.
what a way to go! Love this, love chocolate.
Thanks, Holly. Me too. 🙂
🙂 ❤
Yum. Mouth presently watering 🙂
Mine too, Sarah. 🙂
