Imagine my delight yesterday afternoon, when pausing for a moment in my unpacking and repacking-for-charity frenzy, I looked out of the window and saw Ali Baba cruising by. He’s not as big as dear Mr. A, but I’m sure he’s still growing.
After all, what use is a stretch of water bordering one’s Florida property, if it doesn’t have at least one ‘gator? I shall give him instructions to guard our place whilst we’re away overseas.
Happy Wednesday to you all.
Great idea Sylvia. Just don’t get too friendly with him … π
Just like he knew you were packing up! Some people settle for a guard dog. Just saying.
Haha Well, it’s nice to be different. π
He would certainly make a great guard dog, Sylvia π
I’d certainly like to have him on my side, Dianne. π
He’s ceratinly giving you the eye Sylvia π
Yes he is. I wonder what he was thinking? π
I am not sure Ali Baba will take you request into considerations. But then I am not from Florida and don’t have alligators as house pets.
Exactly, Otto. Florida has different rules. π
That’s great! I foresee hours of fun going for walks, playing fetch and having tummies tickled. π
Hehehe I don’t think the tummy tickling is going to be on the agenda, Bun. π
Probably right. You might be having a lot of fun but be a little puzzled as to why your arms kept getting shorter.
π³π
Good to see you menagerie just keeps growing Sylvia! π
Thanks, Adrian. I have no say in the matter. π
You couldn’t ask for a better house sitter…watchgator on the job!
Thanks, carol. I do believe you’re right about that. π
Is he an ordinary alligator? he has a slimmer more elegant nose!
Maybe he’s had a nose job. π
Sylvia, I bet your guests don’t ask to go swimming there! π
How did you guess, Marsha? π
hmmmm, let me think… π
Nice to see those eyes peeking out over that water before you leave!
Oh yes, I rest easier knowing that he’s out there. π
Must be a welcoming place for animals. They tend to gather there. π
Just call me Dr. Doolittle. π
Yes ma’am. Via the bathroom window. You could have your own show! β€οΈ
Good to see gators and people getting on! π
It’s the only way, Fi. The alligators have rights too. π
I think you were happy in the past location sharing space with a large ‘gator, so I am sure Ali Baba will fit in and follow the rules of the owners! π Sylvia, he is a handsome guy!
He really is very handsome, Robin. As long as we all follow the rules, we’ll get along together very well. π
Maybe Mr Ali Baba just realised summer is over and came out to catch the last of the warmth π Good luck unpacking π
Thanks, Mabel.
Always nice to see a familiar face π
That’s what I thought. π
I think he looks a bit more younger and seems kinder than Mr. A. π
I don’t intend to find out how kind he is. π
Interesting. You do have a full national park in your garden. Now, I’ve seen crocodiles in Africa (Uganda) they run pretty fast on land. I guess it’s a matter of keeping one’s distances, right? Thank you for sharing.
Yes, we do have quite a variety of wildlife here. I’m hoping that the alligators will just swim around and smile at me. π
And do lock the dogs if you have any. I just remembered cousins of mine in Nairobi, in Karen, who had to lock the dogs inside at night because of the leopards. Leopards loved dogs… π¦
No leopards here in Florida! No we don’t have dogs or cats, only wooden ones. π
Good. I was worried the alligators might come out at night and grab the dogs. π
Having said that, how far is the pond, lake, whatever, where the gators are from your house porch?
Hubby just paced it out for me. From our patio door it’s 48 feet. π
“Metrically”? 16 metres or so? Wow. Watch your step then. π
Definitely, I will. π
Only you would be HAPPY to have a new gator patrolling your new digs…I would’ve been happy to have moved AWAY from that. But I guess the view of free security system on that side of the house anyway is a selling point……
Haha I got so used to having gators around at the previous house, it felt like something was missing when there wasn’t one here. I have a feeling that he’ll only be an occasional visitor, but I may be wrong. π
I think you can count on him being a great guard! π
I sure hope so. He has to earn his free photo shoots. π
Tell them to stick to the water, too. π
That is non negotiable. π
When we first lived in Florida I was so scared of them, then I got used to them, we still treated them with the utmost respect of course, but without quite so much fear
I think I was more fascinated than scared when hubby called me to look at the one across the lake, about 5 years ago. You’re so right about the “utmost respect”. Thanks goodness for zoom lenses. π
Let us hope he’s staying in the water
Yes, that would definitely be the best place for him. π
Glad to see that you are so synched with the world around you.
Haha Thanks, Charlie. Yes, I do like to keep an eye out. π
Welkom terug Mr A
π Must be a relative.
As I don’t see the forty thieves, I’m guessing he ate them! π
janet
Your comment made me laugh out loud, Janet. π
That always makes me happy to read, Sylvia…unless it was a serious comment. I take it you don’t think I was being serious.
Haha I could see the smile on your face. π
I don’t know, he looks pretty big to me, Sylvia. π
Well he’s quite a decent size I guess. π³
Ali Baba cruising by is fun – and will make a great watch gator…. ahhhh #Florida living!!
I agree with you, Yvette. No intruders will be coming in from the water side. π
π
Oh, I’m glad your world is complete now, Sylvia!
Hehe It doesn’t take much to make me happy. π
That’s good!
I hope he’s as kind as Mr. A since he’s the new guest π
Yes, I think he looks kind. You can tell by his eyes. π
As long as you are comfortable with a gator in your backyard. That’s all that matters. π β€
My world is complete. π
