6 Word Saturday: Barely Keeping My Head Above Water.

I haven’t spent much time watching my Backyardigans lately, but hubby spotted Mr. Turtle cruising around. I wonder if this is the same one who we had outside our garage door last month. If so, little Terrence has really grown a lot.

If any of you have noticed that I’ve been missing in ‘inaction’ for a while, It’s because I’ve been down with this dreadful coughing flu  ‘adenovirus’. Some days I’ve managed to surface for a couple of hours, and most nights I’ve spent coughing myself silly. My son and family arrive on Friday and I’ll be really busy catching up with chores until then, and also have an article to write for our club magazine, so I’ve decided to take a blogging break for a while. Please feel free to chat amongst yourselves whilst I am gone.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Just tucking myself in here Sylvia as I’m not on WP v much at all as you know but wanted to say brilliant news and splendid to hear you are feeling * heaps better as you put it 🙂 xx love Poppy

  2. Sounds like we’re suffering from the same thing. Although, for the life of me, I can’t figure out how you managed to pass it to me! 😆 I’m on week two and now just primarily dealing with the coughing. Anyway, I hope you’re feeling better.

    • So sorry, Linda. I didn’t mean to pass it on. I’m feeling much better but still have the dreaded cough. One of my friends tried to cheer me up by telling me he’s had a cough for 20 years. 😕

  3. I am so sorry to hear of your illness, Sylvia. I usually fly by the seat of my pants to visit people who comment and fill in with the ones who liked my posts. Easy to forget to stop by and “check in.” Get well and be careful, dear friend. xo
PS. You and your dear husband have created a very special and warm interior of your home.

    • I’m so much better now, and looking forward to a trip to South Africa and England next month. I’ve not been very active on the blogs this past month, I’m afraid, what with being ill and then our family visiting, and now my computer playing up. 😕 This too shall pass though. 🙂 xx

  4. I just popped in to catch up on your adventures only to learn you weren’t up to snuff. Hope you are feeling much better by now. I love the red door, by the way! How lucky you are to have the remodel and settling in nearly done!

  5. oh dear sorry to hear you have been unwell. I can relate to your feeling of just keeping your head above water though, which is why it has taken me so long to pop by. Very much hope you are feeling much better now or at least having a good day today

  6. I hope you feel better and will be ready for the family. Allergies (which are back in full force since my return to the States) have been making me cough, sneeze and have serious shortness of breath.

  7. I am sorry you have been ill, Sylvia. Many people here have had that flu, and my husband and I have been lucky to have not caught it.

I love the turtle head. Always had a fondness for turtles since I was a small child.

  8. Oh, sorry to hear you are not in the best of health, coughing can be dreadful, not only does it stop you sleeping, but also can cause your ribs and chest to ache. I do so hope it disappears soon. [And besides I am missing your lovely neighbours]
    Jude xx

  9. Hope you feel better soon. I had the worst cough of my life when I was in Florida a few years ago. Nothing would make it stop once a coughing fit started. Then I discovered something. Fresh ginger. Cut a small piece and keep it on a saucer by the bed, suck a piece the size of a sugar cube, I swear it stops the coughing. Once the fit has subsided you can spit it out. I really promise it works. xx

  10. Hope you feel better soon. Taking good rest is the key to fight flu or cold.

I think you may need to look into some kind of tagging system to identify back yard friends 🙂

  11. Sorry you haven’t been feeling well – you have been missed!! Thank your hubby for me for bringing the picture of Mr. Terrance Turtle to us.
