Not sure which poem you’re referring to but i found this verse from one which pretty much sums him up.
“Then swooping straight down, without a sound
I wrap my talons, so tightly around
The slow, soft beat, of a dying heart
As bits of fur, fly away in the dark.”
I know your love for animals. I doubt if any predator shows mercy on its prey. I still think ruthless was the wrong word – well, at least for me – Then again, I also recognize you were working within the constraints of symbols in the Haiku.
Very handsome, they’re the kind in the famous poem aren’t they?

Cute little owl to me, but the star of horrendous nightmares for a mouse!
Oh yes, and when he grows up, for much bigger prey such as Iguanas. 😳
Amazing!
Love this photo. Where did you see the owl?
Thanks, Colline. It was at one of our local 50 acre wildlife refuge which is free to the public. We love visiting these places.
I like that it is free to the public – it makes it accessible to anyone no matter what their income.
💕owls💕
Yes, it’s always a treat to see one. 🙂
A lovely killer. 🙂
A very cute little killer.
She (He) looks cute. You know every one needs to make a living 🙂
Absolutely, YC. Glad I’m not on his/her radar. 😃
Wonderful I had never seen an owl in wilderness
Thank you. It’s always a treat when one pops up.
Nice capture and writing … but a ruthless killer? Simply trying to survive.
I wasn’t judging him. Just saying that when he chooses a victim he shows no mercy.
