BeckyB has challenged us this month to find all things spikey and to post square photos of same.
In a pot just over the waterfall in my fish pond, is this pretty spiky Tilandsia Cyanea, commonly known as the Pink Quill plant because the bright pink flowering bract resembles an old fashioned ink quill.
Hope you have a fun Thursday looking for spiky things around you.
The square challenge isn’t only for spiky things. It also includes bristly, pointy and prickly.
Such a wonderful plant with pink flowers
Glad you like this, Marylou. 🙂
I’d never heard of this one. That flaming pink is fabulous!
What an interesting looking flower!
Yes, it’s very unusual, Colline.

Almost shocking pink. 😃
Yes!
Love the pink!
Thanks, Fi. 🙂
Wow what a colourful flower, I wonder if it is a bit spiky too?
Thanks, Gerrie. The pink bract is quite pointy.
That is a strange looking plant and flowers. The flowers are pretty however!
Yes, it’s very unusual. I think it belongs to the bromeliad family.
Thank you for the name.
That’s a pretty plant.
I thought so too, Carol. It’s such a lovely surprise when the pink and purple starts to grow.
Wow! How pretty and unexpected! 🙂
Thanks, Lynette. Yes, the flowers were a nice surprise. 🙂
You really do see loads of lovely colours..
Yes we do. Reminds me of that hymn ‘All things bright and beautiful’. 😃
They’re rather miraculous, aren’t they? Pink feathery fans.
Yes, I agree with your ‘miraculous’. The tiny purple flowers, especially. 😍
It is gorgeous. Have a great Thursday
Thanks, Drew.

Thanks, Lola. 😘
Look at the color of that flower! wow! awesome!
b e a u t i f u l !
Thanks, Eddie. It always brings a smile to my face when I see it. 😃
I certainly see why
oh isn’t this a fabulous plant . . don’t think many of the English secretaries in the 18th century would have had quills like this though!!
And thank you so much for joining in with spiky squares 🙂
Thanks, Becky. No, not nearly such fancy quills then. 😃
I like spiky – but not much to see yet in this area.
Thanks, Frank. It doesn’t have to be plant. I’m sure a bristly chin would also do. 😅
