Pull Up A Seat And Wait

XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat’ challenge has come around again. When waiting for something to happen, I find that it’s always good to have somewhere to sit. After all, one never knows how long the wait is going to be.

One of our local restaurants in Umhlanga South Africa, obviously wants to make their customers feel like royalty if they have to wait for a table.

In Costa Rica we had these two beautifully-carved wooden benches to choose from whilst waiting for our river cruise.

I prefer hard suitcases rather than the canvas ones. Not only are they stronger to withstand the harsh manhandling they have to endure, but they also make a good seat whilst waiting for the taxi to the airport. We were embarking on a two month round-the-world trip and as you can see, I haven’t yet mastered the art of travelling light.

Happy weekend to you all.

  1. I never made it to Harvey’s in Umhlanga but I love that couch. Fit for a Queen!

Those benches in Costa Rica are works of art! If I had a backyard, I would want to Turtle Bench in mine too remind me of all of the Turtles I have met along our way.

You crack me up with your ‘excess baggage’ for your round the world adventure. When I moved onto Amandla 6 years ago, I brought 1 (albeit large) suitcase – and It included a set of bulky foul weather gear! That said, I think I have managed to collect a bit more since coming aboard and may need to return home with as many suitcases as you have here.

  3. You traveled around the world with all those suitcases? Wow! You really are intrepid! I always try to get away with just a carry-on, but of course I tend to stick closer to home these days.

    • Haha. I was so tempted to sit on the gold sofa. As for the suitcases, two months away in different climates ranging from hot to freezing, plus the fact that we were attending our son’s wedding in Tahoe half way through our trip, necessitated packing for all seasons plus wedding attire as well as presents from family and friends. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. πŸ™‚

  4. That’s the thing with travel. You just never know what you may need. I do the very same thing and groan about taking too much. LOL LOVED your photos. Have a great time, Sylvia!! πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹

  5. for a two-month around the world, i wouldn’t mind lugging those suitcases. i’d probably donate half of my clothes here and there and replenish with small items from everywhere. lol. hope you had a wonderful weekend dear Sylvia! πŸ™‚

  6. I definitely would like to try to sit on the golden seat above. It might make me feel like king. I do not think I’ve sat on any suitcases (perhaps I did), but definitely I like putting my legs on them while waiting for plane at the airport.
