XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat’ challenge has come around again. When waiting for something to happen, I find that it’s always good to have somewhere to sit. After all, one never knows how long the wait is going to be.
One of our local restaurants in Umhlanga South Africa, obviously wants to make their customers feel like royalty if they have to wait for a table.
In Costa Rica we had these two beautifully-carved wooden benches to choose from whilst waiting for our river cruise.
I prefer hard suitcases rather than the canvas ones. Not only are they stronger to withstand the harsh manhandling they have to endure, but they also make a good seat whilst waiting for the taxi to the airport. We were embarking on a two month round-the-world trip and as you can see, I haven’t yet mastered the art of travelling light.
Happy weekend to you all.
To take part in this challenge, just click the link and post your seat photos.
I never made it to Harveyβs in Umhlanga but I love that couch. Fit for a Queen!
Those benches in Costa Rica are works of art! If I had a backyard, I would want to Turtle Bench in mine too remind me of all of the Turtles I have met along our way.
You crack me up with your ‘excess baggage’ for your round the world adventure. When I moved onto Amandla 6 years ago, I brought 1 (albeit large) suitcase – and It included a set of bulky foul weather gear! That said, I think I have managed to collect a bit more since coming aboard and may need to return home with as many suitcases as you have here.
Teehee……..”Everything but the kitchen sink” is my motto; just ask hubby. π

You traveled around the world with all those suitcases? Wow! You really are intrepid! I always try to get away with just a carry-on, but of course I tend to stick closer to home these days.
My problem is deciding what to leave behind, rather than what to take with me. π
π₯΄
Wow, you do travel with a lot! Dave and I prefer the soft cases as we have found our hard ones got damaged too easily π
Well travelling around the world to both hot and cold climates, plus our son’s wedding on the way, meant we had to take quite a variety of clothes plus wedding presents. π
Nice seats but you’re the star of the show sat there looking all relaxed and elegant.
Thanks, Gilly. I try. π
Love that gold sofa! And you have a lot of suitcases…
Haha. I was so tempted to sit on the gold sofa. As for the suitcases, two months away in different climates ranging from hot to freezing, plus the fact that we were attending our son’s wedding in Tahoe half way through our trip, necessitated packing for all seasons plus wedding attire as well as presents from family and friends. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. π
That’s the thing with travel. You just never know what you may need. I do the very same thing and groan about taking too much. LOL LOVED your photos. Have a great time, Sylvia!! π¦π¦π¦
Luckily my hubby is very patient with my luggage and sometimes even finds a corner in his suitcase for my hairdryer. π
πππ
for a two-month around the world, i wouldn’t mind lugging those suitcases. i’d probably donate half of my clothes here and there and replenish with small items from everywhere. lol. hope you had a wonderful weekend dear Sylvia! π
Yes, weβve done two of those trips and to different places. We definitely came home without a few things and bought some on the way. π
Anyone would be tempted to sit a while on that gorgeous golden seat.
Maybe that’s why there’s sign saying it’s for customers only. π
You have the best adventures!!!
Thanks, Rebecca. We try. π
No long distance travel for this fella.
Coming soon however, I feel in my ‘bones’.
Keep on smiling Sylvia!
I will. π
I definitely would like to try to sit on the golden seat above. It might make me feel like king. I do not think I’ve sat on any suitcases (perhaps I did), but definitely I like putting my legs on them while waiting for plane at the airport.
Haha…….King YC. π I also put my feet up on my cabin bag at the airport.
The suitcase seat was smart, and the model beautiful
Thank you, kind sir. π
You seem beautiful dear Sylvia, have a nice and safe travel, dear, Love, nia
Thanks so much, Nia. xx
You’re having to much fun, my friend.
One can never have too much fun, Dan. π
I’m a bit the same with the suitcases…….I love the carving on the benches at Costa Rica.
I think you and I have quite a few things in common, Gerrie. π
Great photo of you!
Thank you. π
I KNEW those suitcases couldn’t all be yours Sylvia! Have a fabulous trip – look forward to your posts!
Well, actually not ALL mine. One is hubby’s π
Happy weekend! π
Thanks, Lynette. Hope yours is going well. π
Travelling light!
Funnily enough that was my favourite Cliff Richard song. ππ»
ππnever listened to him!
I think the first pop song I ever remember hearing was Cliff singing βLiving Dollβ. π
HahaΒ‘
I like those Costa Rican benches, but then I have wonderful memories of the five days our older daughter and I spent there a few years ago. π
janet
It’s an exciting and interesting place to visit, Janet.
I’d love to go back some day.
You look so cute! β€
Thanks, Jill. π xx
Happy travels.
Thanks, Ruth. We’ll be off on our travels again mid May. π
OMW you have to carry those suitcases in and out of each place you visiting.. π
Well, not me personally. π
