Pull Up A Seat And Wait

XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat’ challenge has come around again. When waiting for something to happen, I find that it’s always good to have somewhere to sit. After all, one never knows how long the wait is going to be.

One of our local restaurants in Umhlanga South Africa, obviously wants to make their customers feel like royalty if they have to wait for a table.

In Costa Rica we had these two beautifully-carved wooden benches to choose from whilst waiting for our river cruise.

I prefer hard suitcases rather than the canvas ones. Not only are they stronger to withstand the harsh manhandling they have to endure, but they also make a good seat whilst waiting for the taxi to the airport. We were embarking on a two month round-the-world trip and as you can see, I haven’t yet mastered the art of travelling light.

Feathers On Friday: Mr GBH Does A Photobomb

So, the wood stork community and a few of their Anhinga friends were just hanging out together having a casual get together and just as I’d got them nicely posed for their photo shoot………

…. all of a sudden, a very streamlined Mr GBH decided to flash past like a streak of lightning. What a showoff!

Cee’s B&W Photo Challenge: Wheels

For Cee’s B&W Photo Challenge ‘Wheels’,  here are a few random wheel pics from my travels.

In May 2010 we took a trip to Yellowstone National Park, starting off in Jackson Hole, where we rented a Dodge Durango SUV. Here it is outside the cute chalet where we spent our first night.

When we set off the next day, hubby realised that the power outlets weren’t working, which meant that we couldn’t use our GPS, so back we went to the rental office where it was swapped out for a Chevy Suburban which was very spacious indeed for just the two of us, but who’s going to complain about that? The weather was unseasonably cold for May, and when we arrived at Old Faithful, I noticed pretty icicles on the wheels.

Now for something completely different. A horse and buggy ride around Savannah in much warmer weather.

Last but not least, some ‘choo choo’ wheels in Chattanooga.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Too many steps in Rome.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge Stairs Or Steps reminded me of a staircase we encountered late one evening in Rome. On arrival, we were whisked up to the rooftop restaurant in an elevator and had a lovely evening of good food and live music. When it came time to leave, there was a long line of people waiting to use the elevator down again, so hubby and I decided to take the stairs. There were quite a few steps down to the street level, but I decided against sliding down the bannisters.
