Pull Up A Seat And Relax
It’s time once again for XingfuMama’s ‘Pull Up A Seat Challenge’.
Here are a few images of relaxing places to sit a while.
Cats have purr-fected the art of relaxing, and Ravioli who rules my daughter’s house in Johannesburg, is no exception.
This Siamese had commandeered a comfortable place to spend the afternoon.
Watching the waves is a very relaxing sport and one which I’m hoping to do a lot of whilst in South Africa.
Sitting watching the sun set over Montego Bay is a very fond memory for me.
I’m so looking forward to seeing my Mom-in-law in England next week. She’s not looking too bad for almost 106.
Have a great week, everyone and if you’d like to contribute to XingfuMama’s Pull Up A Seat Challenge, just click the link.
Feathers On Friday: A Snappy Dresser
I was delighted to get my first sighting of a Green Heron whilst out at the Nature reserve last Sunday, What a ‘Fashionista’ is this striking bird, balancing on slender yellow legs, with his velvet-green back, rich chestnut body, fancy waistcoat and chic dark chapeau. Although he’s quite a small heron, that dagger-like bill looks absolutely lethal. Any unfortunate victim on the receiving end certainly doesn’t stand a chance.
I hope this has been a good week for you all and that the weekend will be most enjoyable. This is my last weekend here in Florida before we leave for England next Saturday.
Wordless Wednesday: How Many Birds On A Snag?
Pull Up A Seat In Thailand
It’s time again for XingfuMama’s Pull Up A Seat Challenge.
This week, I found some photos of places to sit in Thailand. A trip to Bangkok wouldn’t be complete without a trip to one of its floating markets. We were collected from our riverside hotel by boat and taken on a ‘shopping’ tour.
Fruit and vegetables were in plentiful supply at the market and the locals also shop there.
A great variety of goods are sold from boats and as we floated along, our boatman stopped off at many of these well-stocked booths where everything you could imagine in the way of tourist souvenirs was on offer at good prices.
Exploring the Khlongs and canals in Bangkok is done on one of the long-tail boats which are like tuk-tuks on water. The wooden seats are not the most comfortable, but my sit-upon survived the almost two hour tour and the scenery was so interesting.
In Patong I spotted these guys seated on the back of a truck advertising the Thai Boxing Stadium, a visit to which unfortunately was not included in our itinerary, Muay Thai is a traditional form of full contact kickboxing that utilizes kicks and punches as well as elbow and knee strikes, so definitely no sitting down involved. I think it would be quite fascinating to watch though whilst seated at a safe distance.

Mundane Monday: Just A Pigeon
“No, I’m not JUST a pigeon! My fancy name is Indomalaya Dove and by the way, don’t you just adore my new red footwear?”
Sometimes we forget just how extraordinary the more common varieties of birds are. Everything in nature is beautiful in its own way.
Wishing you all a happy week ahead.
Silent Sunday: A Peaceful Scene
Happy Sunday, everyone.
Feathers On Friday: Three of A Kind
For my ‘Feathers On Friday, I’m participating in Nancy Merrill’s ‘A Photo A Week Challenge’. This week it’s three photos of the same subject from different perspectives.
Mervin Muscovy duck is quite a striking looking bird who doesn’t visit our backyard very often,
When he saw me watching him, he turned his back, as if to say in his best Greta Garbo voice, ” No paparazzi please. I just vant to be alone.”
Some time later, I spotted him having a siesta just outside my bathroom window.
Wishing you all a splendid weekend.
