Floral Friday: Orchid Surprises

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” ~ Lao Tzu

I have several orchids in my lanai which for the most part seem happy to be just green leaves. I often engage them in a very one-sided conversation, encouraging them to please try a bit harder. They appear to ignore my impatience, but just when I’ve almost given up hope, they surprise me with gorgeous flowers.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

  1. Orchids certainly live by their own schedule in my experience. They seemed to thrive for me when I had a northern facing skylight with an windowed (lots of norther light) alcove facing north as well. The next place I lived and the current abode had/have next to NO northern exposure. Sigh. Had to give up on orchids. I’m just happy to enjoy seeing yours!!!

  2. One of the best surprises I can get at least! So beautiful! I don’t seem to get your posts in my reader anymore? Glad you are still blogging – I was afraid you had stopped!

      • The same is happening to me, and I know others as well. We have to remember we are still here ( even if we do not always show up )in this friendly blogosphere!

  3. I have just realized that I just don’t get email notifications anymore form your posts, and I thought you are not posting….well glad you are! Beautiful flowers they are!

  4. You must be whispering the right words dear Sylvia. No green fingers needed obviously πŸ˜‰
    Lovely joyous flower photos x

  5. Your orchids looks beautiful, Sylvia. I have two at my day job office. Everyone who knows anything about orchids constantly asks me what I doing to them. They are like super orchids. They bud, bloom, drop and bud again and again. I don’t do anything but give them a little water each day. They must like the freezing cold temperatures and city water. πŸ™‚
