One Word Sunday: Flare At Sunset

This week, Debbie’s ‘One Word Sunday Challenge’ is Flare. I’m taking a nostalgic journey back to Sunset Beach on the north shore of Oahu in Hawaii. We waited patiently  for the fiery flare over the ocean and were not disappointed.

Happy Sunday to you all and I hope you’re well and staying safe. We just spoke to  my mom-in-law Kathleen in England, who is going to be 107 in August. We were saying that we would love to be able to travel over to see her but unfortunately won’t be able to come over this year. She understands the situation though and said, “Oh well, in life, whatever we’re dished up, we just have to make the best of it, don’t we?” I’m thinking that her ‘laissez faire’ attitude to life may just be the secret to her longevity.

Feathers On Friday: Gentle Neighbours

On our morning walk, Muriel Muscovy approached me with that “Do you have any treats for me?” look on her face. Sad to say, all I had in my pocket was a tissue.

I invited her to come join the ducks under my bird feeder, where there are always lots of  seeds scattered in the grass.

She might even meet Mr Blue Jay who is also a frequent visitor, The more the merrier.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend, as peaceful as the wildlife in my backyard.

One-liner Wednesday: First Water Lily Flower

This morning when I went out to feed my three goldfish, this is what I saw. Out of the dark depths, a beautiful flower had risen during the night to greet the day.

Every day, nature has more miracles to show us and often to astound us.

Wishing you all a wonder-filled Wednesday.

I wonder if like me, they’re dreaming of ‘Far away places with strange sounding names.’

Hope your Sunday is going well. It’s pouring with rain here in Florida, so we missed our usual morning walk.

Feathers on Friday: Mr GBH Gives A Heads Up

Fishing along the water’s edge, Mr GBH is seen against the backdrop of the Coral Tree  flower reflections. (Photos taken through my bathroom window.)

Such elegance as he holds his head high on that slender neck.

Floral Friday Surprise

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”  ~ Lao Tzu

Our Cattleya orchid has been resting for so long, hanging high on the post outside the kitchen window. that I’d almost forgotten about her. She has however, obviously been very busy and yesterday surprised us with two exquisite twin flowers, just in time for hubby’s birthday. What a perfect gift.

Wishing you all a beautiful weekend full of pleasant surprises.

My Second Podcast With Rebecca Budd: The Joy Of Music

I recently connected again with Rebecca Budd a dear friend and fellow blogger from Vancouver, and we  had another enjoyable conversation via the wonderful world of Podcast. This time we spoke about the joy that music brings to our lives and I shared some of my memories of how I came to play the piano and the happiness it has brought into my life over the years. Some of you have said in the past that you would like to hear me play and when you listen to the podcast, you will hear me playing the lovely melody ‘The Way We Were’, a song made famous by Barbra Streisand. I hope you enjoy listening.

Just click the link below to be taken to the podcast.

Wishing you all a perfect Wednesday.

Monday Mutterings

“Hey young Al, haven’t seen you around for a while. It’s all very well sunning yourself on the bank, but actually this happens to be MY patch, so kindly hoppit.”

“Oh, is that so, Mr GBH? I know you think you’re the Mayor of this place, but I’m going with the idea of first here, first dibs and while we’re about it, haven’t you heard of social distancing? You my friend, are much too close.”

DSCN7960

“Well, I guess you have a point, but don’t let it become a habit or I’ll have to do something about it.”

DSCN7965

“You and whose army? I’m quite a bit bigger than you in case you hadn’t noticed and I have teeth.”

DSCN7963

“Hrumph! I didn’t want to stand here anyway. It’s much nicer further along. I’ll leave you to your sunbathing, but I’m sure it’s going to rain.”

DSCN7973

“Thank goodness for some peace and quiet at last. That show-off really can go on a bit, but I’m glad he realises that size does count.”

Wishing you all a happy Monday and a great week.

Silent Sunday: Remembering

“Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” ~ Elizabeth Stone

Remembering my darling Mom with gratitude for all her loving, devotion and sacrifice for the good of her children. She is forever in my heart just as I was in hers.

Wishing all mothers a very happy Mothers’ Day today.
