Great Egret really believed he’d got lucky yesterday lunchtime. I could almost hear that poor fish thinking, “Uh-oh, I’m about to be someone’s lunch!”
He was a bit too big for Great Egret to manoevre and making a supreme effort, he managed and wriggle free.
But Great Egret wasn’t giving up so easily. “Not so fast, young fishie! Here I come again.”
Gotcha!”
Poor fishie really should have stayed home. Wishing you all a safe and peaceful weekend.
Amazing the beak doesn’t break..
It looks pretty strong to me, but that fish was quite a challenge. π
I can’t imagine that the determined Egret would ever be able to swallow something that large.
I think as my mom would have said, that his eyes are bigger than his belly. He did manage to get it down though. π
He a superb fisherman
Yes, he is. π
Awesome action shots, what a catch, for the Great Egret and you! π
(I still feel a little bad for the fishie that becomes the meal….)
Thanks, Donna. Me too. π―
Great shots Sylvia….ππ
Thanks, Gerrie. π
Good capture of his capture, Sylvia.
Have a delicious weekend!
Thanks so much, Nancy. π

I MISS FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time for another visit? Maybe not right now though. π±
I know….We have a routine now with grocery shopping here, etc. It would be a little nerve wracking trying to set up a new routine down there…we have much closer neighbors in our condo community and we also have workmen installing hurricane windows there on Tuesday. Better for us to just stay out of the way.
Weβre stuck here for the duration. π± We would normally be either in England or South Africa at this time of year.
You’re going to have to go through the heat! Stay in, stay cool and stay safe!
Thatβs the plan. π
Life is indeed full of risk and danger. Sometimes we are at the right time at the wrong place – but somehow it all works out. Happy weekend – hugs from across the continent.
Youβre so right, Rebecca. It worked out well for Great Egret. π
Sorry for the fish, but happy for Mr Grumpy.
Me too. π°π
His mouth might open wide enough, he would have to get it just right to go down.
What do you think?
It needs to be positioned very carefully. π
I wonder whether youβre able to see the fish slide down Great Egretβs throat the way you see a mouse move throughout the body of a snake… Happy weekend, Sylvia!
Yes, you can, but he turned his back on me at that point. π¦
Great photo story
Thanks, Derrick. π
Wow! That fish should tide him over until breakfast the next day.β€οΈ
Well, he was still looking for more on the other side of the lake. More is more. π
If he keeps eating like that there might be more of him too!π
Bwahaha. Made me lol, Jill. π
Poor fishie… but then… nature.
I love the shots, Sylvia!
Have a lovely weekend! π€π
Thanks, Marina. Yes, it’s the way of the world. π― Glad I’m not a fish in Florida. xxx
