Debbie’s one word challenge for this Sunday, is ‘Skyline’.
I think this skyline speaks for itself. My photo was taken many years ago when Hollywood was really buzzing and churning out new films all the time. Unfortunately with the outbreak of Covid-19, the film industry and consequently the movie cinemas have really suffered. I saw this week that the much anticipated new Bond movie ‘No Time To Die’ has been pushed back to next year. I was so looking forward to watching Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond.
Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday. Please stay safe.

Good pick, Sylvia. We’ve been watching movies from the library at a faster than usual clip. Maybe we’ll borrow some Bond Flicks!
Thanks, Nancy. That’s not a bad idea. I think you might find the earlier ones a bit corny. 😃
No doubt! But sometimes silly and corny can be a relief . . . especially in an election year. 😛
True. 😃
haha….a very popular skyline. Great shot for this theme.
Thanks so much. 😃

A sign we all know so well 🙂
😃
Nice pic and yes one of the most iconic skylines. Every industry has suffered great loses. 😊
Thanks, Lisa. Yes, there’s a lot of catching up to do.
Thanks so much, Jet. Maybe more buildings have sprung up since this photo was taken. It was quite a few years ago.
It’s always fun to see the Hollywood sign, and you did a good job here of highlighting it. Unless you get pretty close, there are a lot of buildings all around it. Fun photo, Sylvia.
Hollywood will find a way to keep making movies, that is for sure 🙂
Yes, I’m sure you’re right, Tandy. 😃
Iconic, Sylvia. I understand they’re having a woman as the next Bond. Doesn’t work for me at all. A woman in that type of role, sure, but as Bond, no thanks. Always getting more and more PC.
janet
I agree with you, Janet. Bond has to be a man. 🙂
People wanting a woman can start a parallel series, “Jane Bond.”
Or Janet Bond. 😅
I was afraid that might come up. I think not. Jane Bond would have to be a…is “manizer” the female equivalent of “womanizer?”…and that would NOT be me. I told my husband that James Bond is one of those men I wouldn’t care for at all (except for poor George Lazenby who married Diana Rigg, thus dooming her to death.) I like Daniel Craig’s Bond because it seems the writers are actually giving him some feelings other than lust. 🙂
Yes, Daniel Craig is my favourite Bond.
This is such a great hike! The kids and I used to do it every January. The views are amazing from the sign. There are so many great adventures California has to offer in addition to the movies from Hollywood. It’s a big industry here and provides jobs for a lot of people in movies and shows. They have a lot of stuff on the shelves I imagine and once this whole pandemic is over people will be able to see all the creative projects. Glad you can find movies that provide a little excitement for you. But I did have a question, was Craig your favorite Bond?
Yes, I can imagine how amazing it must be to hike up there and look down. Craig is my favorite modern day Bond. Sean Connery is my olden day’s pick. 😃
Will just have to watch old Bond movies
I don’t know whether I could bring myself to do that. 😅
So your a Daniel Craig then?
Yes, I’m a fan. 😃
In a year or so we aren’t going to see any new work because of Covid – which is a pity. Guess it will be time to go back to the classics.
How right you are, Colline. I feel very sad for those working in the movie industry.
nice take on the prompt, Sylvia. happy weekend and stay safe, too! 🙂
Thank you so much, Lola. 🙂 xxx
Final outing? Really? Is he done already?
Well, as James Bond. 😅
It’s one of those things when you finally see it for real it’s so exciting.
Yes, it was quite a thrill, just as was seeing Mount Rushmore for the first time. 🙂
Buckingham Palace is another one that comes to mind. I remember standing there looking at thinking Wow! I’m really here.
Did you do a tour? We did and also the White House. I don’t know whether it would be allowed now even after the virus is gone.
Beautiful picture Sylvia. Things have changed a lot with the pandemic.
Thanks, Lavinia. Yes, sadly so. I hope everything will come back again in time.
Isn’t it lovely to have old memories of days gone by triggered by all the photos you took. Happy memories, I’m sure! (all except for the bejeweled fingernails!!!) 😉
Yes, it is. Haha……….those bejeweled fingernails were rather gross, weren’t they? I should look for the photo again. It’s sure to fit one of the challenges here. 😀
Yes, this sign doesn’t need a caption! We’ve never been this close to it, as we only briefly stopped in LA one year, with two dogs. We walked in the hills and on that sidewalk with all the stars. At some point when walking in that area, we noticed the sign up high. So many industries have been affected by Covid. Let’s hope the movie industry recovers!
Thanks, Liesbet. Yes, I remember walking down the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and also Rodeo Drive where i tried on a swimsuit in a store called ‘Tight Assets’. 😀
It is a crazy time..let’s us hope everything will be beter after finding a vacin
Yes, we can only live in hope, Marylou. I’m not really where I would like to be at the moment.
This is an iconic photograph , Sylvia. You have captured the essence of the “old Hollywood” feeling that comes when I remember Katherine Hepburn, Judy Garland, Lana Turner, James Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, John Wayne and the list goes on. I heard that there is a new James Bond – the rumours say it will be Tom Hardy!!! And time moves on. Happy Sunday. Sending hugs and love across the miles!
Oh, I loved reading all those famous Hollywood Star names, Rebecca. Those were the days, weren’t they? 😃 I remember that Tom Hardy played Bill Sykes in Oliver Twist, way back. I think he’d make a good James Bond. 🤗
I must see that movie!!! The first time I saw Tom Hardy was in “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”. It was a brilliant film and Tom Hardy was very believable. https://youtu.be/VW-F1H-Nonk
So much in our life has changed…movies and TV series are all being postponed.
So true, Karen. We have to make our own entertainment or rewatch old stuff. 😅
That Hollywood sign was such a big deal when I was young, and then we took our girls on a Hollywood tour when they were teenagers and it looked a bit shabby and old. However, it was still lots of fun doing that tour, brings back memories!
Thanks, Gerrie. This photo was taken in 1995 on our first visit to America. We did an amazing road trip with our son who was 19 at the time. Great memories for me too.
I was looking forward to the new James Bond movie too, Sylvia. I suppose we all have to practice patience.
Oh yes, patience is something we’re all having to practise these days, dear AmyRose. 😉
🙏🏻😷
Thanks, Brian. 🙂
I don’t have much love of Hollywood anymore or California. But, I hear what you say about looking forward to that James Bond movie. We’ll just have to see whose left out there after all hidden things come to light. ❤️🦋🌀🙏
Absolutely, Sheila. Hollywood doesn’t have the glamour that it used to. I think we’re all waiting with bated breath for the new future to reveal itself.
Wishing you a peaceful Sunday filled with visits from your critters. xo
Thanks so much, Jill. xxx
Thanks, Sylvia, you too. 🙂
We’re staying in and staying safe. 😃
Nice one Sylvia!
Thanks, Aletta. 🙂
