One Word Sunday: Skyline

Debbie’s one word challenge for this Sunday, is ‘Skyline’.

I think this skyline speaks for itself. My photo was taken many years ago when Hollywood was really buzzing and churning out new films all the time. Unfortunately with the outbreak of Covid-19, the film industry and consequently the movie cinemas have really suffered. I saw this week that the much anticipated new Bond movie ‘No Time To Die’ has been pushed back to next year. I was so looking forward to watching Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond.

Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday. Please stay safe.

  2. It’s always fun to see the Hollywood sign, and you did a good job here of highlighting it. Unless you get pretty close, there are a lot of buildings all around it. Fun photo, Sylvia.

  3. Iconic, Sylvia. I understand they’re having a woman as the next Bond. Doesn’t work for me at all. A woman in that type of role, sure, but as Bond, no thanks. Always getting more and more PC.

  4. This is such a great hike! The kids and I used to do it every January. The views are amazing from the sign. There are so many great adventures California has to offer in addition to the movies from Hollywood. It’s a big industry here and provides jobs for a lot of people in movies and shows. They have a lot of stuff on the shelves I imagine and once this whole pandemic is over people will be able to see all the creative projects. Glad you can find movies that provide a little excitement for you. But I did have a question, was Craig your favorite Bond?

  5. Isn’t it lovely to have old memories of days gone by triggered by all the photos you took. Happy memories, I’m sure! (all except for the bejeweled fingernails!!!) 😉

  6. Yes, this sign doesn’t need a caption! We’ve never been this close to it, as we only briefly stopped in LA one year, with two dogs. We walked in the hills and on that sidewalk with all the stars. At some point when walking in that area, we noticed the sign up high. So many industries have been affected by Covid. Let’s hope the movie industry recovers!

  7. This is an iconic photograph , Sylvia. You have captured the essence of the “old Hollywood” feeling that comes when I remember Katherine Hepburn, Judy Garland, Lana Turner, James Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, John Wayne and the list goes on. I heard that there is a new James Bond – the rumours say it will be Tom Hardy!!! And time moves on. Happy Sunday. Sending hugs and love across the miles!

  8. That Hollywood sign was such a big deal when I was young, and then we took our girls on a Hollywood tour when they were teenagers and it looked a bit shabby and old. However, it was still lots of fun doing that tour, brings back memories!

  9. I don’t have much love of Hollywood anymore or California. But, I hear what you say about looking forward to that James Bond movie. We’ll just have to see whose left out there after all hidden things come to light. ❤️🦋🌀🙏
