Woody wood stork has become a frequent visitor to our backyard and I’m always so happy to see him. Today his feathers were looking particularly pristine and well groomed.
It takes a lot of effort, to look this good.

Just before he left, he called out to me, “Wow, look at me now! I hope you’ve got a good photo.”

Then he strutted away, no doubt on his way to impress his buddies, or maybe a young lady wood stork.

Wishing you all a very good weekend. It’s been raining such a lot here in Florida, but I can see “enough blue sky now to make a sailor a pair of trousers”, as my favourite childhood author Enid Blyton once wrote. Now that was such a long time ago, but still sticks in my mind.
Woody the Magnificent is such a marvelous name. Look at Woody strut around with his white feathers. I am sure he will be back for more camera time soon π That is a funny quote by Enid Blyton. I loved reading her books when I was younger. She wrote so many classics π
Thanks, Mabel. Youβre so right, he has been back a couple of times since for more photos. π
I’ve never seen one of this, such a wonderful showπ
Thanks, Christie. He was here again today and I got some more photos which Iβll post next week.
Such a joy, I love when birds are hanging around my place also, they bring so much joy and happiness. Have an amazing weekend!
Handsome dude, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen one. Sorry about the rain, but you can send it our way because we can walk over some of our reservoirs because of so little. Take care and enjoy your feathered friends.
It’s been quite a few years since I’ve seen a Wood stork! Thank you, this was fun.
Thanks, Lynn. He’s quite a character. π
Ahhh, I love Woody the Magnificent!
Thanks, Ally. π
My pleasure, Sylvia. xx
He seems very proud of himself. π
I think he takes great pride in his appearance. π
Ah, Woody’s definitely got the looks and the catwalk! π
Happy Sunday, Sylvia! xoxoxo
Thanks, Marina. Youβre so right. π€

I know that phrase but hadnβt associated it with Enid Blyton, though it must be where I came across it. I read everything! Woody is a cool dude.
Thanks, Anabel. So many sayings go back through generations.
That blue sky/ sailor trousers line coming to mind reminds me of how fun it is when pieces of literature stick with us and Surface at different times π keeps life connected and rich
Yes, you’re so right, Yvette. We have so many wonderful phrases lurking in our brains, just waiting for the right moment to show themselves. π

I like how Woody gaits. It looks gentle and confident. I am sure his buddies like that. Please have a great weekend too.
Thanks so much, YC. Yes, Woody does look very calm, collected and dignified. Happy weekend to you too. π
A super set
Thanks so much, Derrick. π
Woody does look fine, Sylvia.
In the third photo, I first thought he’d mastered the mystical art of levitation, but I spotted his other leg just behind there! π
Have a good Saturday!
Thanks, Tom. Woody is very good at standing on one leg, but I don’t think he’s quite mastered the art of levitation. π
Not that he’s letting on! π
He is so confident and seems enjoying being in the limelight π
Beautiful photos, Sylvia π
Now a days, I am behind birds and butterflies to escape from all the negativity around…
It is just amazing how soothing it’s to just watch them and photographing, right?
Thanks so much, Sreejith. I agree with you that nature provides welcome relief for the all the negative noise being pedalled on the internet. I wish that our politicians would take some time out to enjoy the beauty and wonders of nature. It may change their psyche for the better. π
Absolutely π
Handsome fella, Sylvia! I love that he visits your backyard often!!
Thanks, Donna. Me too. π
Quite the dapper looking fellow with his pink feet.
Have a nice weekend. π
Thanks, Lynette. Yes, those pink feet really add that special something, don’t they? π
a very handsome visitor, Sylvia! happy weekend to you, too! π π
Thanks so much, dear Lola. π
Itβs quite awesome that he posed up for you like that. Fabulous set of photos. Woodyβs looking good! π
Thanks, Lisa. I donβt think he knew I was there. π
Thatβs great! Got the rawest of behavior. π
Really fun post, Sylvia. The photo series of the wood stork is a true pleasure, and the fun words had me smiling.

Great captures, Sylvia! Enjoy your weekend. xo
Thanks so much, Jill. π
I’ve never seen a wood stork before but he’s quite attractive and also very inclusive with his white, dark grey, some black, and some orange. Quite PC! π Enjoy your weekend.
janet
Thanks, Janet. I’m glad you like his outfit. π
Woody reminds me of Beau Brummell, the legendary Regency figure of fashion. Beau noted that βStarch makes the gentleman.β And Woody is certainly a gentlemen with his starched white shirt and meticulous sense of what it proper. He is certainly up to his name, Woody The Magnificent. A wonderful way to begin the weekend, Sylvia!
Oh, you really made me chuckle out loud, Rebecca. I love your reference to his starched white shirt. He really does look quite the gentleman. ππ€
He seemed to be thinking ‘who ruffled my feathers?’ in the first shot, but it all came good in the end. Happy weekend, Ad! π π
Yes, I think youβre right, Jo. Allβs well that ends well. ππ
I love that saying Sylvia. woody is looking mighty fine I will say. Lovely conversation the two of you had as well. Wishing you a great weekend. you may have rain but we have LOTS of snow. Winter has made an early appearance. Have a great weekend!
Thanks, Sue. Snow already? π³ I canβt get my head around that thought as we swelter here in Florida.
Almost like living in a different planet! Too bad we canβt share a few degrees with each other. π
That would be so nice, Sue. π
Magnificent he is!
Thanks, Sue. Iβm sure he would agree with us. π
Iβm sure he would!
Have a great weekend, He looks rather handsome.
Thanks so much, Ute. π
He probably had to go deliver a baby.
π
I remember that quote too! When I was growing up our neighbour was a teacher and she always quoted it, I spent a lot of time working out if there was enough blue in the sky for a sunny day. Take me back.
Woody looks extremely well groomed and handsome.
Have a good weekend.
Thanks, Gerrie. I think itβs an old English idiom thatβs been passed down from generation to generation. π
She looks so amazing.
Thanks Marylou, he is very βknapβ. π
Love your close-ups that are sooooo clear as well as the term Feathers on Friday! You’ve made my day!
Thanks so much, Rusha. π
Hello Woody! Looking handsome and clean… for a pond date. Have a wonderful weekend, Sylvia!
Thanks so much, Liesbet. π
