One Word Sunday: Meat/Meet

Debbie’s ‘One Word Sunday’ this week, gives us a choice of ‘Meet’ or ‘Meat’.

I’m very fond of taking photos of memorable meals and remembered this outing to a restaurant in Johannesburg with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson, where we’d arranged to meet with two other friends. What a fun outing that was. The place was abuzz with chatter and laughter.

The burgers were a sight to behold and very delicious. Mine was chicken and bacon with lots of extras.

The others chose the more traditional beef burgers, but all contained meat.

I hope I haven’t made you feel hungry with my photos. Now, I’m just longing to go over to South Africa again and meet up with family and friends over a great meal.

Hope your Sunday is going well. If you’d like to join in Debbie’s ‘One Word Sunday’, just click the link and post your meat/meet photos.

  1. hi Sylvia
the food does look so good and also love the group shot!
i sometimes have forgotten to get a photo of past times meeting up with friends but the photos i do have are treasures to me! they hold the essence of the time together and i see that in your photo here πŸ˜‰

  2. This looked yummy. I imagine it was pre-covid. I seem to recall you got your shots. So did we and had our first large-scales lunch with friends last sunday. Also getting ready to fly to Paris in July, if event permit. I also imagine it is too soon for you to plan a trip to SA, right? Take care.

  3. Great post and pictures – and now I’m going to make a sandwich and pretend it’s like the ones in your photos!

  4. Always marvelous to recall those not too often very special moments with family
and/or friends. Looks like this was a special one!
Happy times are always special! Smile wide, Eddie

  5. Lovely happy photo Sylvia…it reminds me of the amazing food and generous servings we got as we travelled around South Africa. I’m sure there will be more happy memories to be made for us all!

  6. I took my grandson out for dinner just this evening and my fries were served in a little mesh basket like that. i had never seen that before…and then i see it a few hours later. Hmmmm…how about that?

  7. Oh Sylvia what a wonderful, heartwarming memory. Your meat/meet response was brilliant bringing both ideas together to create a celebration of family and friends. In the years ahead, when we look back at this time, I will remember friendships that sustained me during a time of social isolation. Our friendship over this past year has been heartening and encouraging. Thank you! Sending many hugs and love!

    • Thanks so much, dear Rebecca. Yes, long distance friendships are also very special, particularly during difficult times such as we have just been through. I always find your positivity very encouraging too. πŸ€—πŸ˜˜
